Walker Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 as they felt they had many other priorities which could benefit supporters What a load of rubbish. Never felt so alienated by this club in my whole life, won't even entertain an idea which a good proportion of the fans would welcome with open arms.
1964FOX Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 There is an article in tomorrow's mercury, page 21 I am told.
Simmo86 Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 Excuse me for being a bit dense but why does going to unreserved seating mean the capacity suffers a 10-15% drop? Don't Derby have unreserved seating at some home games Rams69??

Poakey Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 I also found that a very confusing comment. Maybe a few spare seats are required incase somebody can't find one?
m00nie Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 Excuse me for being a bit dense but why does going to unreserved seating mean the capacity suffers a 10-15% drop? Don't Derby have unreserved seating at some home games Rams69?? maybe have to sell less due to odd numers of people?? sinlge seats can be filled up when planned
Foxes_Trust Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 Excuse me for being a bit dense but why does going to unreserved seating mean the capacity suffers a 10-15% drop? Regulations set by the Safety Advisory Groups - not sure on the exact justificiation for this, we were aware there was a ruling like this, as were a number of the other fans involved in te FCC last night. Certainly agree with DavieG's point, that if the club looked to make ground alterations to increase capacity, that would be the time to incorporate a modified area. We had a long chat with the Mercury today who picked up this thread, given the length of conversation, we are not sure what elements will be published

Don't Derby have unreserved seating at some home games Rams69?? No we dont mate unfortunately. Dont think it would ever happen for a home supported area for a league game. We do tend to have unreserved seating for pre season friendlies if low/middle crowd expected and also for the recent cup game v Palace we did. Glad that your paper has picked up on this thread. I suggest you get someone to just organise an event and go from there.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 14 January 2012 Posted 14 January 2012 It needs to be done. I'll ask at the Kaz bar later
Raj Posted 14 January 2012 Posted 14 January 2012 As a 40 year old (albeit very young and good looking for my age!) who used to stand at Filbo and very much enjoyed it,i'd be interested to see how many folk really would stand. As football crowds have evolved over the years i doubt it would be as high as people think. Having said that i still think people should have a choice if they want to,as long as City fans realise it is a very low priority in the LCFC agenda and best not get too excited about it happening.
davieG Posted 14 January 2012 Posted 14 January 2012 Today's Merc Leicester City fans have made fresh calls for a standing area at the King Power Stadium. Supporters' group the Foxes Trust asked for the idea to be discussed at a meeting of the fans' consultative committee, which liaises with the club on supporter issues, on Thursday. • • At present, all stadia in the top two divisions of English football must be all-seater. Ian Bason, chairman of the trust, said: "There has been lobbying from fans about looking at safe standing and some clubs have agreed to look at it. "I think primarily younger City fans would like to have a standing area and the next challenge for the club is to engage with supporters aged 18 to 25." Ian, who said he preferred to sit at games, believed designated standing areas would prevent tension between fans. He said: "Part of the problem is there has been conflict between groups who want to stand and those who want to sit. Last summer we asked trust members their views and they were marginally in favour of standing." Legislation making stadia all-seater was brought in following the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, in which 96 Liverpool fans died in a terrace crush. However, in Germany, many grounds have areas with seats which fold up or down, but also have safety rails, which double up as crush barriers. A Safe Standing Roadshow is on a tour of clubs, and the trust hopes to bring it to the King Power Stadium. Jon Darch, who runs the roadshow, said: "I would be delighted to take the roadshow to Leicester. I've found most football clubs I've visited are open-minded and willing to see how it might work." City fan Simon McCarthy, 20, from Syston, has first-hand experience of safe standing areas in Germany. He said: "I never felt I wasn't safe there. Fans wanting to create an atmosphere can easily congregate together, which would improve things dramatically here." Many of Leicester's travelling fans stood in an all-seat stand for the duration of the game during last Saturday's Cup tie against Nottingham Forest. Tom Moore, 22, of Barrow Upon Soar, said: "Standing in seated areas can be dangerous and this is a solution to that. The club seem to care more about barcode entry on turnstiles and pre-match funfairs than something which is so in demand by the fan base." Tom Hancock, 27, of North Kilworth, said: "It would be a positive move as this would attract more fans if pricing was reduced for standing areas." A Leicester City spokesman said the conditions for the King Power Stadium's safety licence required all parts of the ground to be all-seater.
James. Posted 14 January 2012 Posted 14 January 2012 Such an annoying response from the club. Either intentionally or unintentionally missing the point entirely.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 14 January 2012 Posted 14 January 2012 Intentionally James I'm sure. It's what people do when losing an argument
SMX11 Posted 14 January 2012 Posted 14 January 2012 I am sure the Taylor report said that the disasters weren't down to the fact they were standing. It was down to bad stadium design, policing and stewarding etc. It will happen eventually but I just hope that Scotland introduce it and make it sucessful to show us lot that there is nothing to worry about.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 14 January 2012 Posted 14 January 2012 It's already been introduced in jockland hasnt it?
purpleronnie Posted 14 January 2012 Posted 14 January 2012 It's already been introduced in jockland hasnt it? No, its been given the go ahead though, depends on whether the clubs want to bring it in, but it was always going to be a lot easier to bring in up there than here due to the fact that scottish clubs arent bound by the same laws, thats why I dont think it will ever happen here.

Oh, I thought I saw a few things on Twitter that's all. Does anyone have a link to the mercury page davieg quoted from? Can't find it on thisisleicestershire and i wanted to put it up on my Facebook to try and get a bit more awareness

Ozwin Posted 14 January 2012 Posted 14 January 2012 Why do clubs fear merely discussing the possibility? Annoys me so much, we're the fans, we're the ones who keep you people in jobs, at least look into it and give us a reasonable response instead of shutting it down immediately. It's not like Liverpool fans are going to march down here and give a good kicking for being disrispectful either, it's like clubs fear merely mentioning standing because they'll get bad press for it when the majority of fans would be up for the idea and would help towards financing it with donations and whatnot if it came to it. It would seriously improve everything about the souless pit we currently call 'home,' at the minute it's generic stadium plan B, this would add character and get so many fans on side.
1964FOX Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/18012012/58/premier-league-villa-look-bring-terracing.html It will happen, might take a few years but momentum is gathering
