Happy Fox Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 He will be the long term replacement for Wellens and perhaps will go in ahead of him anyway the way his performances have been (over the season). I am pretty sure he will replace him straightaway, I am glad NP has recognised that the central of midfield needed a rejig, Drinkwater alongside Danns looks a very good proposition.
norfolkfox222 Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Who do u think he will drop Danns or Wellens to fit this guy in??? I pray its the latter
Jobyfox Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Who do u think he will drop Danns or Wellens to fit this guy in??? I pray its the latter Admittedly Wellens has been poor for a number of games now but, the Forest game apart, I can’t think what Danns has done to be considered a shoe-in. The central midfield has been poor in general: Wellens out of form, King absent, Danns and Abe very average. Yet it’s always Wellens who gets the stick.

Completely agree..........and all this adulation over Danns is rediculous ........he's got a lot more to prove !!!
Phil Gee's Mullet Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 "Young Man Utd reserve / youth players always make good signings without exception " You're obviously not old enough to remember Brian Carey! Oooo Scarey Carey, what a player nearly as bad as Jimmy Willis!
Ric Flair Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 I think in the short term he'll be played on the wing with Wellens and Danns in the middle or Abe coming in. Eventually he'll move inside, or he'll rotate with Danns. I still think we need to sign an out and out winger as well, possibly two of them.
mod hero Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Think he will be wasted out on on the right, he can tackle and pass. Would expect him to be on the bench for soton game though, don't think nige will change a winning team.
burni Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 would be the right purchase as he doesnt feature in his parents first team plans unlike everyone else we try sign! young and hungry from what i've seen of him he would be a good signing for us

Why play him out wide it would be an utter travesty? we are looking at wingers David Cotterill is still on trial with us, Cameron Stewart isn't quite dead according to James Nursey.
Callabinho Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Maybe this will see the likes of Abe leave, I'd like to keep him for the rest of the season at least! for cover.

I think he and Danns will alternate between operating on the right, but tucked in. That's how Pearson likes to set up. From his performance on Saturday it was evident that Drinkwater was comfortable out wide or through the middle, albeit it's the only game i've seen him play.
Happy Fox Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Maybe this will see the likes of Abe leave, I'd like to keep him for the rest of the season at least! for cover. If Abe leaves we would need another central midfielder, signing Drinkwater is only happening because of Kingy's injury.

I doubt it unless there are 2 or 3 more arrivals. Currently we have 3 fit central midfielders, 1 winger and a ghost in Paul Gallagher.

Seems quite a versatile option, I still think we will sign at least one winger perhaps it will be Cotterill.

chili_con_carne Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Chant - ooooo Danny Danny, Danny, Danny, Danny, Danny drinkwaterrr.

I agree. As much as we are desperate for wingers a central midfielder would be top of my list just so Wellens (the rot) is displaced.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 The Barnsley fans are not happy!! http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=50&fid=41&sty=2&act=1&mid=2115510598
bald reynard Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Chant - ooooo Danny Danny, Danny, Danny, Danny, Danny drinkwaterrr. Goes well with - "Sssccchhhluppp !!!" - if we ever get the chance to sing that !
Lambert09 Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Actually feel quite sorry for Barnsley, must be so frustrating knowing that they cant do anything about this. The fact it keeps happening to them as well but tbh the club should look to find there own jems instead of loaning players as you always run that risk.
