ithuriel Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 The Barnsley fans are not happy!! http://boards.footym...&mid=2115510598 Not their player, just borrowed and obviously if any good they should have realised they could always lose him. One of the main problems with loans, as we found out last season.
lcfcadam Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Apparently moving to us is a step back... The only step back from Barnsley would be this:
Jimmy Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 rely on loan players and this is what happens, Barnsley fans should be asking why they don't sign some players instead of loaning them, Man Utd always a have a recall clause in loans for this reason and players will want to have a permanent club to settle and develope
mod hero Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Judging from what the barnsley fans are saying he must be quality. Good job jacob butterfield is injured we probably would have gone for him as well.
Happy Fox Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Barnsley manager Keith Hill told BBC Radio Sheffield: "He's more than likely going to sign for Leicester. "We live in this football food chain that we can't compete with Leicester and they've nicked a player we've been developing. "I wish him all the best in the future because he deserves the opportunity and it will be a great financial package at Leicester. "I believe one day he will be a Premier League player. It's football, it's a shame, but we move on."
Jon the Hat Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Some sensible and not so sensible comments on their forum. They are right we probably don't offer the same nurturing environment right now with the lads all pulling together. But wrong to think that league position makes any difference, or that Pearson is not known for bringing on young players. Loans are a vicious circle that ultimately pay off in some ways but not in others, no doubt Barnsley have benefited from having him, but they have no control over his future. Sounds like a good move to me. For us and hopefully for the player.
kingfox Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 According to BBC Sport this deal looks all but done. He had a loan spell at Watford aswell, but I wasn't keen on him. Done well at Barnsley though, so hopefully he can do well here.
Happy Fox Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 TheNewStatsman Mark Charlton Danny Drinkwater is understood to be having his medical right now at #lcfc - see tomorrow's #Leicester Mercury!
Criggers Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 So according to "a Barnsley fan" we're a step back because Pearson doesn't develop young talent. Hobbs was on his way to U21 with us, Waghorn was 10x the player under Pearson than after and he's had Mark Davis and Tom Cleverley on loan in the past. Not to mention the players he had on loan from ManU at Hull. Brady & Stewart, were there any more? Also Tom Kennedy from P'boro, anyone think of any more? I also like the bit about being embarrassed because we're buying him after Drinkwater ripped us apart and he doesn't earn our players wages. Well How many contracts has Pearson given out since he came back? Morons. Besides, for all we know he may havealready had an eye on him and if he didn't have the likes of Koren already at Hull fancied taking a chance. He's had enough man u (and other top teams young players) players over the last few years. **** off Barnsley. He isn't even your player so get over it.
Babylon Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Pearsons tactic at Hull and Leicester.... buy the Man U youth team.

davieG Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Barnsley manager Keith Hill is in the hunt for a central midfielder after Manchester United accepted a bid from Leicester for on-loan Danny Drinkwater. Drinkwater, 21, has been outstanding for the Tykes in Hill's first season in charge since arriving on loan in August but the former Rochdale boss was forced to concede he could not compete with the resources of Leicester, who are scheduled to discuss personal terms with the player on Thursday. Hill told the club's official website: "There's nothing I can do. He's Manchester United's player. While the window's open if they accept a fee he's more than likely going to sign for Leicester and I can understand him. "They've really nicked a player that we've been developing. He's been absolutely superb and he's been instrumental in what we're trying to achieve. It's a shame we won't complete our journey together but that's football. "But it creates an opportunity. It's there for another player to snatch. We're actively trying to recruit to replace Danny. We're not going to panic. "We have tried to persuade Danny to stay until the end of the season but you can't deny the deal that will be on offer at Leicester, never mind the fee."

Bryn Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 I can sympathise with Barnsley, a decent club, but that's the trouble with loans at the end of the day. It's happened to us, it's happened to all clubs at this level. They've got some talented players under contract, so they'll be ok. We're certainly not a step backwards though. We're not light years ahead of Barnsley at the minute for sure, but the prospects here are good if Pearson can get a few more players in.

Corry Evans, James Chester, Daniel Ayala, Cairney and plenty more. It's what he does best! Pearson struggles to get the best out of established players but works better with younger players in my opinion.

lcfcsnow Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Pleased with this but can understand the Barnsley fans same thing happened to us a few years ago with Mark Davies. Hope Sky aren't right about Morgan though.
