Stay Positive Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 ...do you think NP would be daft enough to break up the successful Mills/SSL partnership? And if not, do you think the owners would be happy splashing out nigh on a million pounds on him if they knew he would be backup?
Salieri Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 I think we should definitely stick with Mills/SSL. We do need decent back up though and we have that in Bamba and Tunch. Let's spend the cash on wingers please!
Stay Positive Posted 28 January 2012 Author Posted 28 January 2012 Agreed. I don't think Morgan would be keen on being on the bench all the time either...
MPH Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 The purchase of Morgan could be more about replacing the Tunch or Bamba than anything else.....
Stay Positive Posted 28 January 2012 Author Posted 28 January 2012 Good point. That wouldn't surprise me one bit.
paddy Agyemang Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 SSL has been our top performer these last few games and mills is quality. Sell Bamba if the money is right (3mill)
iancognito Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 Morgan's back-up. They went in with a 500K starting bid and have only nudged it up slightly every other day, there's no way that's being offered for someone that you rate or need as a starting CB. About a month ago I would have said it was nonsense to even consider selling Bamba but tbh with the form Saint and Millsy have been in and with Morgan and Tunch as back up, it'd be right to cash in.
foxes2011 Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 for me i cant see why we are trying to buy defenders when bamba and pantsil come back we will have too many, but i think st ledger and mills have cemented a place for now. maybe bamba can go into midfeild. I really still thin we need wingers badley, id be pleassed to see us sign david cotteril on a free and maybe marshall or cameron. maybe one more attacking option as well but we have waghorn and others etc back soon. danns and drinkwater will make a good cm or wellends so he bamba mite not fit in but we need wingers. gallaghers not good enough, dyer is ok but we could have better.
Spudulike Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 All it takes is one bad or mistimed tackle from either (or both!) of our current centre back pairing resulting in a red card plus 3 match ban and everyone will be questioning why we didn't strenghten when we had a chance. Bamba will not be back for a while yet and Tunchev isn't fit.
Walshy5 Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 This does concern me. Mills and St Ledger are forming a good parntership and now its going to be broken up because i cant see Morgan coming here to be a bench warmer!
Libertine Dream Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 Tunchev cannot be classed as backup, he's never fit. As much as I like Mills, it won't take much for him to get sent off again which may put us in trouble regarding CBs. Dont like Morgan as a player though, too Wayne Brown like
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 Bamba to get sold for a good sum of money and I also can see Tunchev going out on loan to get match fitness
MikeyT Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 Mills and St.Ledger should remain the centre back pairing until an injury occurs or a massive error of some sort happens. Would be very unfair if St. Ledger was dropped after the last 3 games he'splayed. We look much, much better with him there, in my opinion.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 Tunchev cannot be classed as backup, he's never fit. ithuriel Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 Wes would have to wait his chance if we buy him, the current two have those spots on merit and Pearson will not change them on a whim. Bamba will have to bench sit when he returns and Tunchev i can see leaving at the end of the season if his fitness remains as it is.
Guest Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 hopefully he'll play the two best - that could be Bamba and Morgan.
Jace Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 Bamba is a great player but does anyone else ever look at him and think he is not a centre back? To me he has always had the attributes of a defensive midfielder or even a centre foward
yag101 Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 Why don't we just use his ball-playing attributes to our advantage? Better to play with more footballers on the pitch, surely. Especially as against teams who sit back or mark our midfielders and forwards tightly and stay compact, our defenders will see more of the ball. So surely they need to be comfortable on it in order to build attacks against sides like this?
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16755706.stm Also you can never have to many defenders and is NFP looking at playing 3 cb's or is morgan more versatile ?
Saxondale Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 I just hope that the club set him realistic expectations. He must know he can't just walk into the side.
dobbylcfc Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 According to Leicester pro on facebook forest have accepted our bid
beryllind Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Looks like that he is coming, SO which central defender IS going to make way for him.
cc_star Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Looks like that he is coming, SO which central defender IS going to make way for him. No one straight away, but there will be drops in form, injuries or suspensions so he'll get his chance, just like SSL got his (and has seized it)
beryllind Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 What about a 5--3--2 line up NP likes his defence to be strong, Wellens, Danns, Drinkwater, in midfield, sounds good to me
