The Leicester City Ultra's

I even remember just one person would bring in a Saturday paper, then just taking a couple of sheets and passing it along, so that everyone on the row had 2 handfuls of confetti to throw.

The sporting blue was good for that.

Away from home the Stewards can't do much i'm well up for getting some balloons confetti and ticker tape pass it around? I had a thought that if it is Brum away we might just get the top and bottom of that block imagine blue and white tape dropping from the top to link with the bottom ;) and balloons all rising out of the stand

But it's not OUR football culture and most of our fans don't relate to it, in Leicester or elsewhere. A fractional minority of, mostly, kids (and you ARE a very small minority) won't succeed on pushing this on everyone else.

Stop being so grandiose and trying to convert old school, English football fans to whom colourful scarves and flags belong more at Pride than the Kop.

You want a better atmosphere you need to think smaller and work your way up. FBs got it horrendously wrong by setting out their stall too early as a set in stone concept with a 'join us or don't' philosophy that alienated them.

Start with the basics, get a simple group of your mates together in a tight block of seats and just keep starting chants. But good ones, simple ones and ones that will appeal to the average 35 year old, not just teeny hipsters that desperately wish they'd come from inner city Hamburg and nit Western Park.

Bloody hell Finnegan, nail on head

I would have thought that the club would have given some of these ideas serious consideration. Why? A good atmosphere = additional points. If the atmosphere at the KP gets us an additional 6-12pts a season, it would be worthwhile.

As to the name 'Ultra' - it will be difficult to 'sell' a group with the word ultra in it.

I suggest a 'rebranding exercise.'

I don't think it's the clubs job to help with the atmosphere (though they could have thought about how the stadium should be designed and if it could be redeveloped to help it in such a way).

What they should be doing is not getting involved. They should let the fans create an atmosphere instead of trying to be awkward and oppose them. They are supposed to work with the fans, those people are the real football club, but no, they'd rather assert their control over them.

Jobber is a leader he starts chants and bangs the drum. Your talking ultras you need

A) flags

B) big flag to go over fans

C) leaders at the front to co ordinate the chants

D) a name

and thats just the beginning i'm up for it if it starts in L and K blocks i mean it's the loudest part of the ground so lets sart it there

E) The right mentality

F) An understanding of the Ultras scene

Personally would love to see some kind of organisation dedicated to sound, colour, and most crucially, upholding and promoting a fan culture unique to us. You can't just use the Ultras tag without knowing what you're on about and ensuring everyone is switched on to those ideals first though. Fosse Boys made that mistake.

All for organisation and unity, it only makes us stronger as a fanbase in my opinion. It needs to stand for the right things though - not just continental wackiness for the sake of continental wackiness.

Yeah, for me a decent model to follow is that of Bristol City's East End. Not Ultras but clued-up enough to promote unique chants, creating banners, stickers, grafitti etc.

As a result they've got probably one of the few decent sets of home fans in the division.

Just needs a few lads switched on enough to carry it out and it trickles down from there.

Would love to see a banner at the back of L going through K something blue and white maybe and the emblems through history could get the whole block to sign it

Colourful flags were part of British football culture during the 60's and on into the early 70's when Mods (and Rockers) were the fashion.

You've been here since 06 and your asking for this question? Really?

Yes.

It may have been discussed 2,017 times before but this time it may be decided upon for once and for all time. This could be it, the ultimate poll.

Plus, let's see who makes the most noise, what colour the kit should be and whether or not we should sack the manager.

not forgetting the big heavy old gas rattles that we used to twirl :)

they strengthened your wrists up for other things

edit

are gas rattles banned now ?

Actually, that would look decent.

So the answer is easy several people need to take flags and banners, others a handful of confetti and the odd balloon. Wouldn't take too many for it to look good and reinforce the current improvement in atmosphere we have but people have got to do it, not just talk about it on a forum.

I thought flags (or rather the pole that comes with them) are banned?.
