Voll Blau Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 The Fosse boys were also incredibly boring, one time I literally heard them singing the same song for a whole half. So all the 70s/80s songs they were singing with old school lads, new chants they came up with (admittedly which never caught on), traditional Leicester songs that got airings every single game - they count for nothing?
Vlad the Fox Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 I always remember at Filbo getting covered in torn up newspaper every single game as the players game out it was great, when did that stop, I only noticed on Boxing Day we had stopped doing it, nobody had any balloons either, I blame the bloody liberals, save the trees and all that crap. I used to take a paper with me every game for this reason, and an handful of balloons quite often as well. It seemed the norm but like you i cant remember when i stopped doing it. Probably taylors doing.
Smudge Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 Oooh, racist. Are you a pole vaulter? No I'm German but how do you know my name?

In the 90's myself and my mates used to take a carrier bag with old newspapers in to away matches and then spend about 15 minutes frantcally tearing the papers up into pieces in the carrier bags. We then passed the bags round about five minutes before the players ran out telling everyone to take a hand full and then as the players ran out it looked great as we threw the paper into the air. Great at away matches to really let the team know we are here, would be good to start this again .
Daggers Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 A mass release of Chinese lanterns has never been done before and would have the added effect of killing off a few cows. I hate cows.

Can we just get over the ****ing Fosse Boys? Please? They tried it with the best intentions, it was lead by a couple of really nice lads, but it didn't catch on and flopped. Let it go, eh?
jonlcfc1990 Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 A mass release of Chinese lanterns has never been done before and would have the added effect of killing off a few cows. I hate cows. It would be pretty hard to launch Chinese lanterns when we have such a big roof plus in a closed atmosphere like the top of L and K you couldn't guarantee they would rise up and out although I share your hatred for cows
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 Bangkok Mick... Re capacity in the 80's, I belive that some people forget or are to young to know what it was like, standing in a seated area is fine as there is room, standing on a packed double decker you are just part of a mass, you move with the mass, in some cases you piss with the mass. Also you need to be in the stand an hour before the kickoff. Mind you, you didnt have to go out for a smoke, and if you did go out it was hell to get back to your mates. Maybe being part of a packed crowd is more important, did you go to the Athletico Madrid match, at times that was like a lench mob. Maybe there was more groups who would start the chants, with out a doubt vocal moaners did not exsist, I really loath these people. What I do belive is a major difference is that then it was a major focal point of the week and if you did not go to the game you did not see any of the match. Don't forget the Saturday evening sports papers, pools check are all part of it. No replays, stats, Pc games, just the big game ever other weekend. Thinking about it was more important, a bigger run up, more expecation. The pitch was a bog, the PA sucked but we didn't care. And there is oone issue that always is ignored the trouble, that had to be part of it as well.
crisp packet Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 It's simple really just move your seat nearer the away fans ??? All be it block L K N etc the only way our ground will have an atmosphere is with willing singers too move ? The Kop at filbo was awsome , as I've stated before I used to be in the ground for 1 o'clock ..... The k.p 'Kop' is only that in name .... Just move your seats ? It's not rocket science ......
jonlcfc1990 Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 I really hope we get a bigger following in N Block i think if you got a few voices in the family stand singing and waving the scarves more people would move
Reynard Bleu Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 Seems to me that you can't manufacture real atmosphere, its a spontaneous thing, just happens when everything clicks and everyone is up for it. Team responds to the real thing too, you feel it as much as hear it.

Team responds to the real thing too, you feel it as much as hear it. You can't manufacture it but you can manufacture conditions to help it grow. Giving away flags at the seats Scarves Lowering the price of the shirts Giveaways for younger kids All these have helped the atmosphere gradually grow and helped fans show their support for the club by wearing the colours which is great. As for manufacturing we all seem to agree that Changing acoustics in the ground Better pre match build up Better music Switching the Kop nearer the noise If these things were "Manufactured" it plants seeds for a better atmosphere to grow surely?
clare Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 The thing that stands out for me at the minute is how the players are responding positively to the increased noise. This can only be a good thing!

I thought by looking back you could see how we have arrived at our present situation. I was solely talking about `atmosphere` and nothing else. Not the merits of Filbo, the capacity, standing, sitting the PA system, taking a piss or anything else. I didn`t realise age was a barrier to an intellectual discussion? But if it is then "yes" I do remember the Ahtletico Madrid game, having gone home and away. Do you remember Peter Shiltons debut and were you there?......I was!

yorkie1999 Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 How about embracing technology and put a microphone on the back of every seat connected to a million watt amp and 20 foot high speakers on the roof. That should get the kp rocking.

purpleronnie Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 Be good to start this up again!! Do it!! (Y) I used to do the same back in the days where stewards didnt take them off you because of fire regulations.

Genius, you could have some effects buttons as well, such as clapping for those that don't want to take their hands out of their pockets, or vuvuzela for those that want to be really annoying but don't have a plastic trumpet to hand. Then you could get images of fans celebrating and cheering projected onto a screen covering the stands. Et voila an atmosphere.
Leicester_lad_92 Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 I used to do the same back in the days where stewards didnt take them off you because of fire regulations. Haha be class with every one doing it again, I tore up Jonathan Greening poster in the forest programme to do use when we pld them . Might take my newspaper to next one and do it or just buy blue ticket tape always looks good
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 Bangkok Mick...... Maybe i did drift of the main point a touch, but I do feel to many fans harp on about how good it was, I am just trying to bring a blance in, if you ever went to wembley as a standing stadium you know what I am saying, This season is some what strange with the high expectations and the pressure that went with it. In more recent years the Mercury did a bit to help handing out balloons and O'niel signs which helps to get things going, but this season in particular fans have had little to get excited about which is all we ask for. Dropping the post horn a few years back was never a good idea and maybe the ticker tape shower will return . All we need is a goal and we will sign. Young and old. So you know all about the wheels on the bus then? And I didn't see shiltons debut but when queuing one night for tickets, no online stuff back on the day, I heard a great tale from some guy who had come up from southampton about how stilton used the play outside where he worked using the wooden delivery doors as the goal. The whole game is different now, could you even bring a banner in the ground now, I am sure that this current generation will find what they are looking for, maybe they can learn from the past but it would be best for them to do there own thing and I don't see Ultras as part of it. And don't forget where we have been over the last 5 years.
Daggers Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 Do Chinese lanterns really kill cows or is it just one of those myths like swans breaking your arms ? A myth eez in the rheum...
adam1 Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 Do Chinese lanterns really kill cows or is it just one of those myths like swans breaking your arms ? They fly over head. Cow looks up. Looks too far. Neck breaks... seriously They land in fields, are not biodegradable and cows eat them. Metal in stomach = fatality They also kill owls therefore Chinese lanterns are not to be used. I like owls.
The Doctor Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 If they kill cows then good news, I hate cows.
