easilee Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Alas, 'tis true. Old Coventry, as poor Sisyphus, toil to little avail. But 'tis truer still that after nigh on fifty years, hauling but a solitary glittering prize, the vitality, verve and humour of the remaining thousands remains like a vestige, although sorely and bitterly laboured. An undying pride in an era where even the moon has barely shone. They question if the the sky was ever blue. Leicester's fortune has shone like the Orient sun, and they have bathed. They have fashioned wings in lust of more, but wax it holds their feathers. Legions have been attracted, tens of thousands watch them soar, and they watch, silent gaping mouths, and Leicester plunge, for the wings are still an awkward trial. Still...mouths agape...silence...Leicester ascend again, a slight mumour of the name is heard from the mass, seven times, but without tune, then seven again, and again, and again, as a spiritless prayer...and then silence. Never have so many mouths been so songless in such utopian splendour. Oyez, Leicester will know the sky as a powder blue, as they crash into the ocean. Thirty thousand sullen mouths will continue to hang wide. Is Stuart Hall Cov fan ? I take it this is from personal experience as a Cov fan.
Raw Dykes Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 I love it how you blank out the word f*** but leave c*** and s*** in Might not have been f*** - I like the idea that it was s*d off or b*g off.
wellyfox Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 I hate every team we play as a team I hate the trees more. And having worked in notts and cov the people of chaventry have a real problem. So the sooner that shit team stop bobbing about like that apple in water the better. 10yrs in the prem they stayed up by the skin of the teeth and most of the time in the CC has been the same. The sooner the go down and are bankrupt the better. Could not happen to a better class of scum. So plse chaventry do us a favour n fvck off
davelcfc100 Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Oh and Aston Villa, I really hate Villa! agreed
NewburyFox Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Might not have been f*** - I like the idea that it was s*d off or b*g off. With 4 stars?
Raw Dykes Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 With 4 stars? They might have spelt it wrong. S*dd or b*gg. Pedantic s*dd.
Kawwaah Kawwaah Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 it definately depends on where abouts you are as a Leicester fan. Im from Hinckley so sit half way between Cov and Leicester and i know a few Cov fans. So if there is any game I cant stand losing, then its against them. Derby and Forest i dont really have any hate for or anything. In fact id go as far as to say i wouldnt really want to see either of them go down. I suppose if your from North Leicester or something, then the same rule applies but opposite. IE Forest and Derby are the bigger games and Coventry is just...well...Coventry
RonnieTodger Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 I tend to rank them on who I like to see lose the most. I have family from Derby, so on a personal level I don't see a rivalry with them. I just hate everything about Coventry. Their shit support, their fans that do turn up, their songs, the constant mention of 1987, their "interbred" song and the white wall at the Ricoh. What's the point? For me it's: 1. Coventry 2. Forest 3. Birmingham 4. Millwall 5. Hull
GingerrrFox Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Because my first post got deleted I'm gonna put it again, people from Hinckley who try and drive this rivalry with Cov is pretty tedious, historically they've never been a big rival and they are just a backwards tinpot club that will be struggling to survive in the coming seasons. This might be controversial but I see people from Hinckley supporting Leicester in the same light as I see people who support Arsenal/Liverpool/Man Utd etc when they've lived in Leicester their whole lives. Go support your local team (Hinckley United) Hinckley is basically in Warwickshire, it takes you longer to get to Leicester from Hinckley than Coventry that says it all!

Don't know where you came up with this idea! Have always supported Leicester, never have and never will show any interest in any of the aforementioned teams. As for Hinckley being in Warwickshire, that's like saying Castle Donington is in Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire. At least Hinckley has a Leicester postcode unlike my area which for some unknown reason has a Coventry postcode depite us living 8 miles from the county border! I don't know which way you'd travel from Leicester to Coventry but the M69 passes close by Hinckley. Enough said I'll just fetch my Tin Hat.

Hinckley isnt in Warwickshire my friend, its in Leicestershire. There is no "basically" about it. I've supported Leicester my whole life, sorry if it offends you because im not born and bred right smack bang in the centre of Leicester! But i would hardly consider Hinckley (10 miles from LFE??) to be along the same lines as someone supporting Arsenal, Liverpool , Man U etc from all ends of the country. Your reply was wrong on so many levels I really didnt know where to start And to get from Coventry to Leicester via the shortest route you have to pass through a junction which is Hinckley! Dear god! Just let the blood flow through the Neurons before the fingers hit the keyboard next time and everything will come good.....
yorkie1999 Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 And coventry isn't in Warwickshire anymore!

I didn't say Hinckley wasn't in Leicestershire however it's what 2 miles max away from Warwickshire? Therefore when I said it's basically in Warwickshire is not far from the truth. I didn't say it offends me that your from Hinckley and you support Leicester, what I said was I see people who are from Hinckley and don't support Hinckley United as the same as any other person that doesn't support their local team. I'm from Leicester so I support Leicester, my cousin was born in Old Trafford and supports Manchester United, I don't see how people can support a team that is not their local team. If I was from Carlisle I'd support them, it's the principle of it.
Kawwaah Kawwaah Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 But Leicester is my nearest local professional team. Coventry is further away? I dont support Hinckley United because they didnt exist when i was younger. Ill go to the pub tonight in Hinckley and sit down for the Derby game and im pretty sure there will be 100+ people in there, all from hinckley who will be cheering on Leicester, should they all be supporing Hinckley too? Who should people from places like Earl Shilton, Barwell, Stoney Stanton who dont have proper football teams support then? By your theory they shouldnt be supporting anybody!
GingerrrFox Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Hinckley has a population of what 45-50,000? Hinckley United are two leagues away from the Football League they are hardly a shit team. The way I see it is I live in Leicester and have pride in my local team, Hinckley United are your local team and if they had the backing of all the football fans in Hinckley they could easily make League football look at a town like Burton which is similar to Hinckley in size they have a team in League 2 and back their local club. If I was from anywhere that had a decent standard of football (which the Conference North is) I would back my local team and thats my point of view and people don't agree but again everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I live in Blaby, should I be supporting Blaby and Whetstone u15s? Plus Andy Gibbs is a right twat. How dare he interrupt our matches with his gimpy voice.

Last time I checked there was a huge difference between a town of +45000 having a team within pissing distance of getting into the football league and a tiny village like Blaby......

GingerrrFox Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Yeh but still, come on, Andy ****ing Gibbs? Haha fair point he is an annoying B*****d but still I'm not digging anyone out from Hinckley that supports Leicester BUT for me football is all about local pride and saying this our football club, we will come to your ground and turn you over on the pitch and out sing you in the stands, whether that be away at Nottingham Forest or away at Nuneaton it's all the same thing to me.
