HankMarvin Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 Yet the vitriol and disdain for Mills is repetitious of the exact situation with SSL. Everyone has short-term memories around here. SSL has turned himself into a 1st teamer by hard work and graft. Pearson laid the gauntlet down by putting him on the transfer list, after SSL had the gall to claim that he shouldn't have been dropped for Mills. How the worm has turned for Mills. Whilst I understand why he might be aggrieved, I think there is something more to this. Maybe mills is on substantial bonus related pay, appearances, win, etc and this is the most cost effective way of putting him in the shop window
Fox1651 Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 Think loaning him out is the right decision, if he has had a "vile" rant at Pearson he deserves to go but to a potential play off rival? Not sure that makes much sense

Lee @lds120188 CloseJust speaking to Gwyn Williams. Matt Mills deal looks unlikely. All was agreed, but he won't move until spoken to Pearson. The initial Tweet suggest that maybe MM wants to sort it out with NP? It's interesting that when SSL and MM were both faced with loan moves away they may have realised how lucky they are to be at LCFC on the contracts that they have and subsequently haven't been all that keen on securing a move away.
Happy Fox Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 so personal greed comes first then - oh how typical of the attitude of most folk in life now ME ME ME Well what do you expect, some players are like that would be happy to collect wages and not be in the team.
Mack Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 I agree... Was having this conversation last night whilst rather pissed with mi mate in town. The 'Sven Legacy' has left the club with a couple of signings it's probably gonna be hard to get rid of even if we want to. Given their overall performances this season, I can't see many clubs sniffing after the likes of Mills and Beckford, given the transfer fees we paid for them and the ridiculous wages they are purportedly on. This could prove a major headache for Nige if he wishes to change the composition of the squad. Which I believe he will want to do. It's a good job we got money at present.. Allegedly... Why would you want to sell Beckford? He's been superb of late.

I'm sure NP never would have dreamt of spending so much money on players like Mills and Beckford. It's going to be difficult trying to recoup a decent fee for them, as they've clearly got attitude problems and haven't performed very well since they've joined. These sorts of players seem to fit in very well at certain clubs, but not every club. Whether that's to do with the manager, the rest of the squad or the fans, I don't know. Similar thing happened with Campbell. On a positive note, Sven didn't get time to get too many of this type of player in, and I'm confident that one more transfer window should be enough to lay the foundations of a really good squad for the future.
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 Why would you want to sell Beckford? He's been superb of late. Take a peek at the end of the Derby Post Match Thread Mack... Just opinions an all.....
Guest Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 joke. You can't pay a player to play for a playoff rival team.
Ozwin Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 What a train wreck of a transfer this has been.
Mack Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 Take a peek at the end of the Derby Post Match Thread Mack... Just opinions an all..... If you seriously think we should get rid of Beckford I would question your judgement. He was quality at Derby also. So nearly scored also towards the end of the game and was a constant threat.
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 What a train wreck of a transfer this has been. Not that I give a shite but it's hardly surprising we get little change from the national media. Whilst the likes of West Ham, The Saints and Brum have quietly gone about their business, our whole season thus far has been a fookin laughing stock. What could have been great has become at times, farcical It really has.
Jace Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 Lets not worry about it the Thais put massive pressure on Sven to spend big yeah this transfer didn't work it he cost £3.5 million but Sven also made some bargains in Schmeichel, Nugent, Bamba. You win some and lose some onwards and upwards.

Anyway, I promised Babs that I'll shut up about this so I will. Over and out on this subject.

Over and out on this subject. I couldn't give a tinker's cuss for the stats mate. I've been watching football since i was 4 years old, I'm 40 now and know a decent player when I see one. Granted Beckford was woeful for a while, but it clicked for him against Florest and he's been cracking ever since.

But some disagree too.. Cest la vie. Have a good day mate
JadeFalcon Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 dont think i have a problem with him being loaned out, just who he's loaned out to. its ****ing suicidal to say the least
Jace Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 Completely right mate to be honest. However, I think and hope that, in terms of signings, Pearson will 'win' more than he 'loses'.. So to speak. Definitely buddy Pearson will be far more selective I think this summer we are not going to see many signings which isn't a bad thing. My main concern and priority for the summer would be retaining Schmeichel and Nugent.

Happy Fox Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 I see no reason why Nugent and Schmeichel would leave.
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 I see no reason why Nugent and Schmeichel would leave. Elaborate a bit mate.. Nugent has been by far and away our best goalscorer and is up there in the list of Championship goal scorers. It could be that Prem league sides may well look at him, or the clubs who come down this season. Kasper has already been linked with Prem Clubs. Not rocket science Happy?
