DJ Barry Hammond Posted 15 March 2012 Posted 15 March 2012 Thehillofuisneach in the 2nd - can stay all day at a decent cruising speed. 6 lto surprised me, but his form before that reads a lot better. Gergahty on board and Jonjo O'Neill has a good strikerate in Festival Handicaps. Niceonefrankie in the 5th - Viennitta Williams is yet to have a winner this week, despite her horses having been in red hot form running up to festival. This is one that has been performing admirably in its last few starts and could still be well handicapped - definitely in with a shout in this ace. And in the 1st, small each way on Red Tanber I expect. It'll be a 100-1 or more, as despite a load of 1's in the form line, they have all been obtained in lowly class 4's. However, I will take the view that winning is a habit and that this horse may well be able to keep in the grove despite the increased class In opposition - you never know! That said Peddlars Cross should be hard to beat.
General Smuts Posted 15 March 2012 Posted 15 March 2012 Who is getyourtips out backing today? I can't fault the lad for yesterday seeing as I know **** all about horses he got me to within 1 place of a win. Should have stuck with Flair's tip of Call The Police which I'd originally selected as well.

With regards to the Byrne Group Plate (4:00) Nice One Frankie is also strongly fancied and I've had an ew single on it.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 15 March 2012 Posted 15 March 2012 Big bet on Big Buck's? Tempted. I'd avoid it Listening to the people down there quite a bit of money is being moved off big bucks just as Paddy Power and Sky bet are bigging him up... can see an upset, My friend dropped 100 on Hurricane fly and i think anyone can learn a lesson from that. Theres never a banker in horses
goose2010 Posted 15 March 2012 Posted 15 March 2012 Big bet on Big Buck's? Tempted. it is tempting but seeing the likes of grand crus and hurricane fly this week i am staying away from it!
Matt Posted 15 March 2012 Author Posted 15 March 2012 Yeah I don't normally do big stupid bets done one in the past and it lost, and followed the favourites this week and lost, am slightly tempted still, gonna consider it.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 15 March 2012 Posted 15 March 2012 Trust me £20 on Oscar and Riverside can bag you £140 and both are easy EW Contenders
marko Posted 15 March 2012 Posted 15 March 2012 Yeah I don't normally do big stupid bets done one in the past and it lost, and followed the favourites this week and lost, am slightly tempted still, gonna consider it. Remember your life lesson from yesterday, young Matthew - go with your instinct!!!
adam1 Posted 15 March 2012 Posted 15 March 2012 Stat attack. Malcolm Boyles placepot analysis on sportinglife is good for a quick reference of stats. 2:05: Seven of the last eight winners of the Pertemps Final have carried weights of 10-9 or less, as have 23 of the 32 horses to have claimed win and place positions since 2003. Just one five-year-old winner has emerged during the 37 renewals of this event. The last eight renewals of this event have proved to be a bookmaker's bonanza with all eight favourites being beaten with just one market leader finishing in the frame, which from an each way perspective in a fiercely competitive hurdle event, is particularly important for the layers. Going back further in time, it's worth noting that just one favourite has prevailed in the last 15 years. 3:20: Fate of favourites: 19 market leaders-7 winners-5 places-7 unplaced First three in betting: 51 representatives-12 winners-18 placed-21 unplaced Last nine years: 9 winners-12 placed-9 unplaced 4:00 Although eight-year-olds have 'only' won four of the last 13 renewals, win and place investors should consider that vintage representatives have secured 21 of the 41 available place positions during the study period. Horses carrying 11-2 or more have claimed just three victories and seven place positions, leaving horses lower down the handicap to run riot. The last favourite to win this race was Majadou for Martin Pipe and Tony McCoy back in 1999 4:40 Nine-year-olds have long since held sway in this event and with eight of the last 13 renewals having been secured by vintage representatives, the trend shows no signs of stopping. Nine-year-olds have claimed 19 of the last 44 available win and place positions 11 of the last 14 contests have been secured by horses carrying 10-13 or more as have 30 of the 43 available toteplacepot positions. Three favourites have won during the last decade, whilst the other winners were sent off at odds ranging between 9/1 and 40/1. Six of the eleven market leaders finished in the frame during the period.
General Smuts Posted 15 March 2012 Posted 15 March 2012 Wahey - winner on the first of the day. 25p stake on each way to get me a massive £1.59.
StanSP Posted 15 March 2012 Posted 15 March 2012 Another great start. Had a few quid on Sir Des Champs to win, and Champion Court to place. £25 returns .
Simmo86 Posted 15 March 2012 Posted 15 March 2012 Another great start. Had a few quid on Sir Des Champs to win, and Champion Court to place. £25 returns . GYTO is on fire... Sir Des Champs in my Yankee!
adam1 Posted 15 March 2012 Posted 15 March 2012 my ppot looks dead edit: at least the horse is ok (son of vic)
adam1 Posted 15 March 2012 Posted 15 March 2012 Stats were correct (ish) with that race. Seven of the last eight winners of the Pertemps Final have carried weights of 10-9 or less, as have 23 of the 32 horses to have claimed win and place positions since 2003. Just one five-year-old winner has emerged during the 37 renewals of this event. Apart from the winner (10-11) the others in the first 5 were weighted at 10-9 or less.
Bluefoxtim Posted 15 March 2012 Posted 15 March 2012 Maybe I should have put more than £3 on my Lucky 15
General Smuts Posted 15 March 2012 Posted 15 March 2012 Alberta's Run wins me another £1.63. Lovely stuff. Though I have Riverside Theatre in my placepots I had VLV on an each way.
