martin7 Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 I no steve howard has been a good servant to leicester but i feel at a time when leicester are looking for the prem he isnt good enough. We are giving him appearances for the sack of it because he doesnt offer an attacking treat. I dont no what everyone else things on the subject
Christoph Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 I think he'll stay until the end of the season then Pearson will look for another target man type he can use for a plan b. I do agree though, I don't see much point in him on the bench, I understand the whole "he offers something different" but he doesn't offer goals and surely that is what we need from a striker? He doesn't really hold the ball up well anymore either.
bmt Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 No idea. Futacs from pompey looked a real handful against us and they could do with loaning him out if we offer a small fee. Offers so so so much more than Howard and may help a dying club!
Lobsterboyuk Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Depends, I don't know the answers to these but Nigel would? 1) Is he taking the piss with his wages 2) Is he a useful influence on the younger players in training 3) Is he steadying the nerves late on in the game because he's been around a bit and says the right things to the players around him He doesn't impress me but sometimes being the fastest, fanciest player isn't all that is needed?
Webbo Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Why do people care so much? He gets 5 or 10 minutes every other game. Stop looking for something to moan about.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 I think he'll be gone at the end of this season, thankfully.
MANFACE Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Why get rid of him ? he's a great target man for last 20 mins of game if we are losing.
Babylon Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 He's getting appearances because we have Vassell and Waghorn out injured. He's out of contract in the summer and will be gone soon enough.
bmt Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Why do people care so much? He gets 5 or 10 minutes every other game. Stop looking for something to moan about. It's not looking for something to moan about, it's constructive criticism. He offers nothing: doesn't hold the ball up, loses headers, can't pass, isn't mobile. Bringing him on for the last 10 minutes each game invites pressure from the opposition because they only need one defender to handle him. A few years ago when he was more mobile he was more of a handful but those days are long gone. Why get rid of him ? he's a great target man for last 20 mins of game if we are losing. He's a terrible target man. Never holds the ball up or finds the short pass to another striker as a good target man should.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Why does so many people hate him? He loves football and shows great passion for the game, what's hard about letting the players have a rest for 5 minutes and let him come on? He's 35 years old, not going to be brilliant This will be his last season playing football probably, stop moaning people!!
leicesterisme Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Why get rid of him ? he's a great target man for last 20 mins of game if we are losing. Is he? All I ever see with Howard is him giving fouls away and giving shit to the referee. He's an awful target man IMO.
Black country fox Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Why do people care so much? He gets 5 or 10 minutes every other game. Stop looking for something to moan about. Well said
davieG Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 With a lot of games coming up it gives Pearson the chance to 'rest' Nugent & Beckford. I'm sure if Waghorn or Vassell were available they'd be on the bench and I doubt he wants to end up with 2 rookies, Schlupp & Hopper up front for the last 10 to 20 mins.

He's 35 years old, not going to be brilliant This will be his last season playing football probably, stop moaning people!! This. It's not as if he's starting games, he's coming on to the closing stages of the game to see it out, I think if you look back to earlier parts of the season he's played his part in a few goals as well. Don't really see why people have such a problem with him, he doesn't cost us games, and he doesn't really do much wrong. He's out of contract in the summer isn't he? It's just respect from Pearson to let him see out his playing days, we don't really have many other options to bring on in attack. Some people will call for players like Hopper and other young lads, but there still fairly inexperienced and have youth team duties as well. Why is it we always need to moan about something?

Don't get me wrong as a bloke I love him, and has been a great servant to the club. But I see no advantage to him coming on whatsoever, and that should be all that matters.
SaM 12 Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Why do people care so much? He gets 5 or 10 minutes every other game. Stop looking for something to moan about. Because I and many others would rather give hopper or schlupp a chance instead of Howard! i know he is still a fans favourite but his time has come now and he doesnt offer anything.
Walker Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 He's been there and done it. As others have eluded to his experience in the last 10-15mins of a match could prove to be vital. BTW, at Burnley away this season he was MOTM and played the 90 I believe. Can still bully the opposition given the right opponents.
Webbo Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Because I and many others would rather see somehis time has one like hopper or schlupp a chance instead of that useless thing! i know he is still a fans favourite but his time has come Schlupp came on yesterday, before Howard, after a long injury lay off so he hasn't been keeping him out of the side. Nobody had heard of Hopper before he had about 10 minutes game time and now every knows for a fact that he's brilliant player. Pearson sees much more of the players than we do, I'll trust his judgement on who'd make the better sub.

mhs123 Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 we keep Howard because Pearson likes him and I can imagine he is a very positive influence in the dressing room.

UpTheLeagueFox Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 I think, by and large, he's been a terrible signing - considering what we paid, how good he was before he joined us and what he's actually done for us. Not being "picky" - just giving an honest assessment. He's not been good enough aside from a few occasional performances. Overall, a waste of transfer fee and wages and will be glad when he finally moves on. His worthwhile "moments" haven't been anywhere near often enough when you take the above into consideration.
