Guest ttfn Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 Oh look, nobody's telling us what a bad player they think he is. I suppose they'll just wait until next time he doesn't score twice. Except Freeman's Wharfer's just done that. In the post above yours. Beckford's strengths and weaknesses have been well-documented in about 10 different threads, this being one of them. It would be unnecessarily facetious of me, Col City Fan or others to re-post about Beckford's numerous failings in his City career to date on a day when he's scored twice. Bit of a childish comment really.
cambridgefox Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 Of course I don't want him to fail, never would want an LCFC player to fail. But I want him to do more and shall not be changing my views on him after a handful of good appearances. I didn't want Beckford to fail when I travelled all the way to Reading on Saturday to see him not give a jot for 45 minutes. I didn't want him to fail when he got the hump at West Ham after doing nowt, only to give us the stare. I didn't want him to fail when I went to Brighton to see his stupid decision-making see us a man down and lose in the final minute. I've not wanted him to fail the countless times at the KP when he's looked either distinctly uninterested or distinctly lacking in a touch, any vision, any quality, any saving graces. The point is, Beckford's done a lot of harm to how he might be perceived by large sections of the LCFC support. He's only just starting to look like being worthy of a place in our team, and it's going to take more than a couple of games in isolation for me to be heaping credit upon him. We've seen it before and all know that in one, two or three games time he could be back to his usual self. As for Schlupp 'arse-licking', yes I'm perfectly willing to give Schlupp more praise than Beckford. I can't remember a time in his career so far where he's failed through a lack of effort and tonight he showed the quality he's got. In his all round play as well. My main motive, and my main message, is this: the adulation for Beckford is all a little premature. Hands up,well answered.
Babylon Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 As a player he sums up our team perfectly, brilliant one game, woeful and uninterested the next. So frustrating.
Babylon Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 I suppose they'll just wait until next time he doesn't score twice. Or once... considering that's most of the time.
whoareyaaa Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 stop the hatin, Pearson has brought the best out of him and if he continues to work hard each game then the goals will come, if he plays like he did under Sven then people have a fair point.... yeah he may not have scored a bag load of goals but he has hit the woodwork quite a lot which shouldnt really be taking into consideration but still hes getting into the postions and working his socks off all game.. lay off him jesus. his first touch aint great 80% of the time but he aint as bad as some make out. A partnership of Nugent and Beckford is one of the best in the division.
wellyfox Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 Oh look, nobody's telling us what a bad player they think he is. I suppose they'll just wait until next time he doesn't score twice. I never have and never will. If getting him to score means we have to play for him unlike others I think we should leeds did n look what he bagged. He could be our greatest scorer since sir lineker. So if we have to play to suit him then so be it others will still score n other and bigger teams do it. Surely it is what MON did play to your strenghts. What the fvck is wrong with that

Bit of a childish comment really. Not really. They only jump on his back when he doesn't score. It just highlights the how many people judge players without giving them a chance. If you're going to make snap decisions on a player then whatever, I don't agree with it but, whatever. The bit in bold isn't really my point, I don't expect that, It just gets irritating when they harp on about it after every bad game and never give any praise after a good game.
tickler28 Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 I agree he needs to put in more effort but he scored 2 goals tonight and played half decent and your all moaning....what has he got do....have Lineker on the back of his shirt....from what I remember he was a lazy goal poacher to!
Happy Fox Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 Just about playing to his strengths I cannot comment if we did that tonight as I wasn't their but he must have done as he scored 2 goals?, since NP has come he has improved alot and his confidence under Sven was at all time low, I would be absolutely livid if he left in the summer we have to keep him at all costs.
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 wheres col Read my post earlier.. I said I wouldn't mention him again and I haven't. Pleased for him and more importantly for the team. I'm first and foremost a City fan and if Becks keeps on doing well I'm more than happy.

Look up and stop trying to make a point which is invalid. I'll criticise when I feel it's warranted and praise when it's due. Won't apologise to you or anyone for that. And if you read back through the match thread you'll notice there were many people suggesting Beckford shouldn't have played tonight. I wasnt one of them and actually said I felt he would score. So back off
wellyfox Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 I agree he needs to put in more effort but he scored 2 goals tonight and played half decent and your all moaning....what has he got do....have Lineker on the back of his shirt....from what I remember he was a lazy goal poacher to! Wenger has played his teams around Wrigh Henry n now RVP all they need to do is score. Oh but we are the famous Leicester City we can't do that. Just one Q ? How many cups n prem titles n europe. Nahhhhhhhh fvck that we are the famous leicester City we can't do that

That would be the greatest loss to this club since Lineker. He's finding form now n he will be a great. N I really will take pleasure in saying I TOLD YOU SO to the doubters. play for him he will play for you.

Won't apologise to you or anyone for that. This isn't directed solely at you or even just the Beckford-moaners. It's aimed at everyone who whines and whines and doesn't back the team or the players. When we're shit, and I mean consistently poor then fair enough. When a player is awful, fair enough. But when they're great one week and poor the next it doesn't warrant 'he's shit' every time a player has an off game. 'He's frustrating' or 'annoyingly inconsistent', sure, but selective moaning really grates.
Guest ttfn Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 the greatest loss to this club since Lineker. I,I,I... I just don't know how to deal with this statement. You're basically saying he's our best player for 30 years?!

I've stated frequently that I would love Beckford to prove me wrong and if he does so I'll hold my hands up and praise, as I have done tonight. When he's not putting in a shift I'll become frustrated with him. However, I was aware that I was becoming excessively focused on Beckford so posted earlier that I wouldn't mention anything else which I haven't. Anyway, again well done Jermaine and well done City
marbelladave Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 I was only watching on a (quite decent) stream but i thought Beckfords contribution to the game improved significantly when Schlupp replaced Nugent. Anyone who went care to put me right........
Happy Fox Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 Did Schlupp and Beckford potentially look good as a partnership?

wellyfox Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 I,I,I... I just don't know how to deal with this statement. You're basically saying he's our best player for 30 years?! No not player but goal scorer yes there is a difference. Player would go to walsh even over Lineker and yes I was at all of his games for us. Best players are not just goalscorers. Big difference in my book. Or are you one of them that a keeper can't be player of the season. Guess Kasper won't get your vote then.
Lobsterboyuk Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 He definitely put in a shift today, in other games he's been a bit lazy for me, tonight he played a bit deeper and got in the game a bit more - not just waiting for the long balls in
Legend_in_blue Posted 13 March 2012 Posted 13 March 2012 He put a decent shift in tonight - especially in the second half. I think his performance merited Nugent being replaced by Schlupp, rather than him being replaced - which has to be a positive. He was unlucky a couple of times, he could have had four goals. People need to get off his back though. It's quite clear he has talent and is a force to be reckoned with in this tin-pot league. Next season we will see the best of him imo. Name one side in this division that would say no to him if they had the chance to play him.
