fox ache Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 I will be ripped apart for saying this but......................... I think Kasper Schmeichel has also played a big part in a lot of the defensive errors this season. Yes, he is a fantastic shot stopper, and yes he will become a Premier keeper one day, but, far too many times this season, when he has the ball in his hands, he has chose to slow down play by waving players to push further up the field and then `HOOFED` the ball as far as he can. This has now made the possession of the ball a 50/50, and if their defence win it (and most times they do) ,it usually ends with Beckford not even bothering to run back, whilst Wellens, Gallagher & Konchesky who have all pushed up, are way too slow to help in any counter-attack made by the opposition. Why can`t he just throw it to our defence in order to keep the flow going and maintain possession??? As i said before, he is a great Keeper.....But a lot of goals this season have been down to that long kick

kingfox Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Im quite the opposite on his long kicking, his long kicking is good and accurate. Kasper is the best, and an incredible goalkeeper, he has been a massive part to our season and hasn't made errors, only in the last two games. Only one thing which frustrates me about Kasper, is when he decides to throw or roll the ball to the defence only to have it passed back to him, which is frustrating and pointless. Apart from that Kasper is the man, and your post is utter rubbish, I think he throws the ball to the defence too often especially at home.
Soar Fox Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 I'm not arguing with your general point but that line is fantastic. That line is about as good as last seasons "all Yakubu does is score goals"
L4EV Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Schmeichel is a show off keeper, he chooses to hoof it because to him a long kick is a spectacular one. However I don't think his distribution is his main weakness, his distribution blows hot and cold but when hot it is fantastic. For me he's still prone to a mistake when it comes to dealing with crosses, partly due to height.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Yes It's Kaspers fault that when he kicks the ball on the opposite site of the pitch they score...
NeilyBoy Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 I will be ripped apart for saying this but......................... So you're aware of the myriad arguments against your point? You realise he's been our best player all season? Why say it then? As far as I'm concerned this is a non-topic and this is the last visit I'll make to here.
davieG Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Every goalkeeper we've had in recent years has started off by throwing the ball out more than they hoof it and I say to myself and others finally a goalie that wants to keep possession and build from the back but no after a while they all end up hoofing much more than they throw it and that now includes Kapser, I don't know whether it's our manager of the days fault, Stowell or the goalkeeper but I must learn to reserve judgement until they been with us for a few months.
ScouseFox Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 An interesting opinion. It's an incorrect one, but interesting all the same.
paddy Agyemang Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Top keeper but for the last few weeks. Has failed to control his area
fox ache Posted 22 March 2012 Author Posted 22 March 2012 I'm not arguing with your general point but that line is fantastic. ,.......I meant goals conceeded

Schmeichel never threw the ball at Leeds. Feel lucky that you ever got to see such an amazing event.
cc_star Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 If you look at some of the 8 goals conceded in the past 2 games, he could have done better in more than half of them. He stays rooted to his line when he should collect, he comes in no man's land when he should stay rooted, he doesn't boss/advise the defenders consistently, he's piss poor on corners & yes his kicking often seems to concede possession... Could go back before these couple of games too there's plenty more he should have got. Yes he's the best keeper at the club by a long way (although I personally haven't seen Smith) but he's far from the legend he's made out to be on here. Also, I don't know if Stowell has a hand in that.
m00nie Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 kicking the ball can lose possession so its not as closed case as people are making out.. just because hes been a good player dont mean he dont have his faults..
Haydos Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 ,.......I meant goals conceeded I know. You hear what you're saying, right? That our goal kicks have lead to us conceding goals...
DorsetFox9 Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 i agree he has is partly to blame RECENTLY. but hey, hes having far too much to do every game. look at Weale, we got into the Play-Offs with a great defensive record with him between the sticks, 1 season later and he is on par with Paul Henderson!!
DorsetFox9 Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 Ohh and btw incase some of you didnt know, Kasper is back on twitter! so im sure some one will soon question him about many things & tell him where he is going wrong...
Kitchandro Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 Kasper has two weaknesses: One is his kicking, which can be erratic. A lot of his long kicks go out of play or barely get off the ground and a player intercepts it on the half way line. The other is he struggles with crosses. But I can't agree he's a big part of our defensive errors. He had a poor game at Chelsea admittedly, but I don't think he's cost us too many goals this season at all.
Dan Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 He's been a tad disappointing of late. You've got to think to yourself though - Leeds had a defence that underperformed with him in goal, and now we do too. I'm not necessarily blaming him, it's just an observation. Shot-stopping wise, absolutely excellent, except when it's Torres.
Guy Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 Kasper's not perfect but is a very assured keeper overall, especially with shot stopping and saving pens! He is easily better than Weale was two years ago (when he was at his best) - and many times better than Weale was last season when sharing the goalkeeping duties with the equally hapless Ricardo! I don't want to tempt fate but I coudln't see Kasper conceding a goal like Weale did at Forest towards the end of last season!
LcFc_Smiv Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 Have full confidence in him dealing with most things that can come his way, more than I can say for any keeper I've seen at our club in a long long time, however I do feel he's going through a rough patch as of late!
Saxondale Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 All 'keepers have the odd rough spell. Overall, he's been brilliant all season and I'm sure he'll continue to be.
