Big changes NOT required in the summer....

They already have two strikes against them in NFP's mind.....

They are expensive,................ and they are Sven's signings...

I wouldn't agree with that otherwise why would NP play them? To soften the fans reactions when he gets rid of them in the summer?, I would be very surprised if they leave the only Sven's signings I can see leaving are Mills and Bamba, the rest of Sven's signings I hope stay on for obvious reasons because with them we stand a greater chance of getting promotion.

You might not mind as much, but for the same reasons Mills and SSL could be on their way too!

I agree that we don't need to change too much personnel wise.

The players of the calibre that we're realistically going to be able to sign are not not going to be a great deal better than what we have.

IMO - A class winger, a serious midfield boss and I would still like another centre back.

But this is all pointless unless we sign players who are better than we already have.

A starting line up of Kasper, Peltier, SSL, Morgan, Konch, Stewart, Danns, Drinkwater, Kebe, Nugent, Beckford given time to hit form and become consistent would be devastating in this league. A bench of Bamba, Marshall, King, Schlupp and Smith or Vassell would be top notch as well.

Realistically Mills could well leave, Moussa should certainly. Weale, Howard and Logan will be released. Waghorn is a possible leaver too.

What about Gally? Or the younger players pushing through like Moore and Hopper, at who's expense should they get chances? Four players ahead of them means they'll very rarely get a game.

Not sure why everyone raves about Cameron Stewart. Yes he's a talented player but he's not been starting for Hull recently and he's scored 1 goal in the league all season!!! Dyer has more than that!!

We'd end up paying way over the odds from Hull when we'd be better to get a talented Prem winger on loan

Agreed with all this apart from getting rid of Dyer. He's be useful to have in some games and to stretch sides late on

Agreed totally. Look at Reading. They lost Mills and Long in the summer and have gone from strength to strength

I can give you a clue why!!

There will be a big defensive overhaul in the summer I am sure of that.

Mills, Bamba and Tunchev will all move on in my opinion with new centre halves arriving.

I noticed a few here suggesting Dyer should be sold and replaced.

What on earth is that about? He has been superb.

Our biggest problem is the mentality that is instilled in to this club, the biggest culprits are the players who have been here the longest likewise the manager and his coaching staff. There is no way that this squad isn't good enough, bar the midfield and a bit of competition elsewhere. The big earners have got to go if they aren't going to play, likewise the old guard like Wellens, Howard, Gallagher and Dyer.

Build a team around Kasper, Peltier, SSL, Morgan, Konchesky, King, Danns, Drinky, Marshall, Nugent, Schlupp and hopefully Beckford.

The rest are all disposable for financial reasons and ability reasons.

I think Kasper will be leaving us in the Summer  So make that 2 GK we need

If he did leave we will probably get good money for him, I'd go for Fielding from Derby, Westwood isn't getting a look in at Sunderland do maybe this summer he might like a move elsewhere.

I don't think Kasper will leave us and I don't see the point in bringing a back-up, unless we bring in a good back-up keeper like Cardiff have Heaton and they used him for the Carling and FA Cup.

I will be sad to see Pantsil go but who can blame him though if he does? Never plays! So we will need to get another RB

Tunchev, Mills and Bamba will also be defenders who will go, Tunchev never really fit again, Bamba wants to start games so get a big profit from him and we all know the Mills situation.. Well kind of..

Gallagher I think won't most likely go but I hope he does, he's not a natural winger and I wouldn't mind seeing someone like Cameron Stewart coming in.

Need another CM aswell I think aswell, 4 isn't really enough.

Another Left Winger is needed to give Dyer a challenge.

For the strikers I can see Vassell not signing on a new deal, he's done it all before so what's his motivation? He only came for Sven lets be honest people.

Beckford is another one that might be gone but he's a 50/50.

Howard I think will stay on for another season because him and Pearson get on well I think but still would like a target man, a younger Steve Howard basically.

They will be changed, Bamba/Mills/Tunchev/Pantsil in defence. Gallagher (I hope) in midfield and then probably Beckford (50/50) and Howard to leave up-front but I can see Howard staying for just one more season.

Howard has too go no question about it a replacement I would like to see albeit on loan would be Connor Wickham.

If howard goes we need a target man, also Connor Wickham won't go on loan to anyone as Sunderland play him

We had a target man last season. Albeit, he wasn't very tall, but he held the ball up well and scored goals. Although, thats all he did. Does anyone remember him?

We need to buy Team Spirit and Work Ethic!!

http://www.guardian....-talk-interview

Robbie, that Leicester City team you played in was brilliant. Why don't we get teams like that any more? There are some teams I'd compare to that Leicester side, like Swansea City and Norwich City, who have fantastic managers and like to pop the ball around. With us it was really the work ethic. The work ethic of that team was unbelievable, we played for each other. These days with the amount of egos it's different. And you have a situation where one player's on a hundred grand a week. We had nothing like that. We just had unbelievable team spirit.

Beckford won't leave and even if he does clubs are going to have to bid £4-£5m for him so no chance that is going to happen, Mills on the other-hand we will be lucky to get £2m!

This is absolutely spot on......

There is a malais that runs very deep indeed and a substantial clearout is required to get rid of it. Without the clearout it will be near impossible to build a new squad with a proper team ethic, the basis for success.

The poor deluded souls who just want 'a winger or two' simply haven't got a clue, massive restructuring is required and whether NFP and his assistants are the people to make this happen remains to be seen......

The kind of 'minor tinkering' that appears to be the concensus in this thread and will leave the core of the squad untouched will lead to another frustrating and ultimately fruitless season..... :(

OUT (of the first team): Wellens, Gallagher, Dyer

OUT (altogether): Howard, Tunchev, Paintsil

IN: Koren, Powell (Crewe), Vardy, Chester, Stewart

Main midfield Options of Marshall, King, Koren, Danns, Drinkwater, Wellens, Stewart, Dyer and another young player like Powell to develop sounds good enough to me

Re Powell, a great shout - but if he were brought in with a view to developing him (he's only 17, so doubtful he'd be given an early introduction to the team), would he be happy to spend a long time waiting for the opportunity? Currently he's a regular in the Crewe team.

There does seem to be a lack of team ethos, but I'm not convinced that a massive turnround in personnel is needed to fix this. It's often the case that one or two bad apples are the main problem; get rid of those, replacing them with players having the right attitude, and the problem goes away. I trust NFP to know what's needed in that respect.

Why do people think Beckford will leave? Saw him today and he said he's 'loving it' here at the moment. Can only be a good sign?

Im not suggesting that he will leave, or infact that he isnt loving it here, but what makes you think he would open up to a complete stranger in the street?

Dave... You keep on banging on about this supposed 'malaise' that exists within the squad.

What 'malaise'?

Do you think that our players aren't trying hard enough? And have you been to many games recently mate? Blackpool for example, there is no way that you can suggest our players weren't busting a gut to try to win that game. IMO St.ledger or Becks were our best players on the night and put in a shift from start to finish, as they all did really.

Which players do you suggest are not wanting to wear the shirt or are playing for a move elsewhere or are just not bothered?

I just don't see it.

I just cannot agree you can put the major blame for our league position on players not trying. I still think its because, pound for pound, (no pun intended Johnno) we are where we are because we are a squad of pretty average ability. Not much worse, but no better, than the bulk of the teams around us.

A central midfield playermaker of real quality, a midfield stopper and a pacy winger or two I still think would make a major difference to this team.
