cc_star Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 In the furore over Danns' 4 match ban, it may have been missed that King is back in contention @dannzy1 misses Forest as no appeal against his Hull red card, but @10_kingy could return. Pre-match build-up soon at lcfc.com #lcfc will NOT appeal the Neil Danns' red card picked up against Hull City so a 4 game ban. Andy King will be in the squad @10_kingy Personally, would like to see him eased in a bit more, he's had a long while out & wasn't in great form by his standards when he got injured. Also his playing style isn't really a great replacement for Danns anyway as most of King's work is done off the ball and in counter attacks, whereas Danns likes to be on it all the time including winning the ball. This could leave our sometimes open midfield, even more open. Hope we stick with the 4-2-3-1 too, very flexible with attacking options & a bit of extra cover at the back.
Raw Dykes Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 I thought we were expecting King back in a couple of weeks. I'd start building up his fitness by bringing him on for the last 20 or 30 minutes for a few games. I think we should keep the same 4-3-3 used against Hull, replacing Danns with Wellens if fit, but if not then Bamba.
Houdini Logic Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 Am I the only person not overly excited about King's return?
AdamN Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 Am I the only person not overly excited about King's return? Understandable going by this season's form, but if he recaptures his form from last season then I'll be delighted to have him back in the side. Plus, with this current shortage of CMs it's always nice to have an extra option.
Stevosevic Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 We all know he is a good player who hasn't had the best of seasons. I also find it great that he is in his 5th season with the club, played over 200 times, scored many goals and has never played first team for another club. Whatever happens to him, he should always receive a warm reception. Leicester City Young Player of the Year (1): 2008–09 Leicester City Player's Player of the Year (2): 2009–10 (joint winner), 2010–11 Championship PFA Team of the Year (1): 2010-11 Good player, let's hope he gets back to his best.
Langston Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 I think he could be quite useful in the system we used Saturday, playing a more defensive role than Danns so Drinkwater can move forward.
Tom17LCFC Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 I think he needed a rest, which he's got now. Reckon he's gonna come back and be a big asset for the remaining games.
Austin Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 Really like Kingy .. hope he does well if he's reinstated in the starting 11
Out Foxed Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 Am I the only person not overly excited about King's return? i can see why you're saying that but the optimist in me is thinking "it's a different team from the start of the season so hopefully he'll come good"
topharry123 Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 He has arguably been one of our best players over the last few years so to say we don't need him back is ludicrous. He had a bit of bad form this season granted but it happens to all players at some time. He's had a good rest now, so hopefully we'll see him come good. He could be a really useful asset towards the end of the season if we win the next couple of games and really bring ourselves back in contention !
cc_star Posted 26 March 2012 Author Posted 26 March 2012 Am I the only person not overly excited about King's return? i can see why you're saying that but the optimist in me is thinking "it's a different team from the start of the season so hopefully he'll come good" I get that But looking at it, he was pushed aside by new signings... 433 formation didn't work for the whole team so was changed to a diamond which temporarily worked for the team, but not really for King, then there was the manager change and the players took ages to respond to him and the 442 with Wellens+King is an awful combination. Wellens needs to be forward tapping balls down the channels or out to the widemen, this means if King ghosts forward into the box our defence is exposed... they just don't compliment each other. Yes, they worked in 09/10 but the whole team had a stronger attitude than this team. King + 1 other could be absolutely fine, we just don't know Personally I think we're going to miss the industriousness of Danns... it's a huge amount of work to be missing from the middle, regardless of the formation & other personnel we play
ian the fox Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 he might recapture his form playing alongside Drinkwater or Danns or both ,
RonnieTodger Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 I must admit, until I seen King outside Stamford Bridge, I'd completely forgotten about him.
Jace Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 How come the red card was not appealed when so many people on here said it was a yellow card? strange.
Captain... Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 I would be concerned about his fitness, I've not heard of him playing in a reserve game or anything and he may not be up to match fitness and other injuries may be forcing him back too soon. One thing I am not concerned about is his quality, how anyone can say that he is not good enough at this level when he was in the championship team of the season and our top scorer last season, and our player of the season the season before. He may not be as eye-catching as others but he certainly has the quality to play in our midfield for years to come, and those that don't believe just take the time during the match to watch him play, watch his runs and his play off the ball, he is class and with the right players around him he will be even better.
NeilyBoy Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 Yes Kingy! I'll be surprised if he starts, but I'll be applauding the computer screen when he makes his triumphant return to the pitch. Anyone apathetic about his return should get their GP to assess them for Alzheimer's.
StanSP Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 Well, for me, this definitely softens the blow of missing Danns for 4 matches. Hopefully King will be raring to go and like most fans, I hope he will settle back in to the squad straight away after so long out. Now is your time to shine, Kingy! (again).
acooling08 Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 It depends which King has returned. If it's last seasons then welcome back! It it's this seasons then he isn't good enough to start.
Foxhateram Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 Excellent news! King is a major asset to the squad on his day. If he can find his form then it will be like a new signing for us. Come on KINGY bag us a few goals!
davieG Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 It depends which King has returned. If it's last seasons then welcome back! It it's this seasons then he isn't good enough to start. He had good and bad games like everyone else in the early season, certainly there were plenty of topics re individual players being shite. i have doubts as to whether he should even be considered to be in the squad based purely on his obvious lack match fitness, no way would he be in the squad were it not for the injuries and suspensions.
Captain... Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 It depends which King has returned. If it's last seasons then welcome back! It it's this seasons then he isn't good enough to start. For one thing he won't be returning to the same team he was playing in before his injury, he will be playing in a confident team that is scoring lots of goals and are (defensive lapses apart) playing much better than 4 months ago when he got injured. Also Mills isn't in the team anymore and I heard he used to deliberately tread on King's toes and spit in his socks, when King confronted him about he just laughed, but later he offered Kingy a burger as a way of saying sorry, but it was only after eating it that Mills told him it was made from King's beloved dog, Gavin, and the special relish was actually Mills Faeces mixed with vinegar. How could he be expected to play well under those conditions?

burni Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 good chance for kingy to get stuck in and show his doubters hes capable, hope he takes it. He's a quality player no doubting that, just got to hope he doesn't go hiding behind the corner flag
