bluesbrothers Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 I want Cardiff to go up, simply because we always lose vital games against them. Oh, and being playoff specialists and my hopes being a top 6 finish next year (lets not go stupid, we all know what happened this year) we'd be bound to end up in yet another penalty shootout with them. Actually, I might put a bet on now that we meet Charlton in the play-offs and Kermogant gets to take a penalty in a shootout.
Webbo Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 Because everyone who finished higher than us this season are irrelevant aren't they. They stand no chance. 24 teams in this division finished higher than Southampton last season and they still went up. We stand a chance.
Daggers Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 24 teams in this division finished higher than Southampton last season and they still went up. We stand a chance. I don't believe I typed anything contrary to that. I simply took issue with the glib notion that, before knowing how clubs have traded during the summer, City are going to be one of the Top Two candidates.
MC Prussian Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 Shhhh... Don't mention anything in the way of Leicester being favourites for promotion next season. I want a quiet and unspectacular summer with little talk of LCFC. Be it from the manager, the players or the owners. This season, too many people have promised too much and held so little. (We've done really poorly in past seasons to live up to the hype - we always do best as some sort of underdogs)
carlhltid Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 Depending on the teams that come down from the prem. If the current bottom 3 come down i think we will be 2nd faves behind Blackburn. and villa and prob wolves prob brum west ham maybe also bolton maybe its gona be tough next year
flowwolf Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Brighton , Leeds , and piss poor Wolves above us in the betting ? If wet spam don't go up they will have to favourites but I think Chris Powels Charlton will be the surprise package.
8starstriker8 Posted 29 April 2012 Author Posted 29 April 2012 Because everyone who finished higher than us this season are irrelevant aren't they. They stand no chance. I think thats where the bookmakers will put us. not my personal opinion.
Daggers Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 I think thats where the bookmakers will put us. not my personal opinion. Surely you can only state this after the summer spending & squad restructuring/manager firing and hiring has been carried out by all clubs? Up to this point it's nothing more than guesswork. Also, bookies odds reflect where money is going - not realistic chances of promotion. This too will be dictated by action over the summer.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Middlesborough and Leeds are not bad odds, can see them both being up there
burni Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/next-season Leeds and wolves are favorites above us, we are on par with Brighton. The three teams that wont get through play offs i predict will also be ahead of us. I'm quite surprised to see us so low but after last season this is welcome

Guest Bilo Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 How the actual fvck are Leeds 10/1 second favourites? Anyone who has a punt at those odds should be supervised with all purchases.

Guest Bilo Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 A fool and his money springs to mind if that's the reason.
Guest Bilo Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Brighton will fade next season. I agree, they fell away towards the end of this season and will do well to finish in the top half next season in my view.
Corky Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 A fool and his money springs to mind if that's the reason. HE GUARANTEES YOU PROMOTION!!
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 Certainly not going to be favourites, in any shape or form.
Guest foxestalkisfullofidiots Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 With Wolves down and possibly 2 from Bolton, Blackburn, Qpr and Villa (wigan should stay up) and if Blackpool go up in the play offs that would leave West Ham, Cardiff, Birmingham down plus Charlton (last 2 seasons the winner of League 1 has gone up) Sheff U and Sheff wed come up and I think Forest, Ipswich and Middlesboro will all be stronger then next season the championship will be frighteningly strong but I would make Birmingham fav.
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 I really hope we are NOT favourites, less pressure. These tags of favourites do you no favours!
Guest MattP Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 I really hope we are NOT favourites, less pressure. These tags of favourites do you no favours! Any squad worth it's salt wouldn't feel pressured by being faves, didn't do QPR any harm. It's a pathetic excuse to be quite frank for failure.

Im not using it as an excuse but i personally dont think it helps. To be quite honest i couldnt care less, actions speak louder than words!
HEGGSY Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 I think thats where the bookmakers will put us. not my personal opinion. I think you've missed the point of having an opinion.
Turtles Head Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 We were favourites last season before spending a penny, along with west ham. Purely down to the money and rumoured signings. Wouldn't surprise me if we were in the top four favourites. Undeservedly, but the bookies have to cover themselves. Leeds 10/1, joke.
