foxesfan1989 Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Simple poll, really interested in what fans want. I believe his contract is up, and Pearson has openly said he wants us to be more physical up front. So simple Q, do you want the Hesk back at LCFC for next season?
Father Ted Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 I have watched Villa's last 3 games and he has been fantastic for them in all 3. He's still got it without a doubt and would definitely do a job for us. YES
Fox92 Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 We need a target man. A player who can hold the ball up and bring other's into play, without always needing to score himself (take a look at Jason Roberts who hasn't scored many for Reading, but contributed so much). Heskey is this sort of player. Would I take him? Yes.
glenny_fox Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Complete city legend, but unfortunately he's just to similar to Howard, except he falls over more. Would give everything he had to our cause though.
Burmesefox Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Neither Nugget or Bex can win an aerial ball. Both are very similar in the way they play and the more I see of them the more I believe that they shouldn't be played together as the sole strike force. It's imperative that either or both of them are played with a forward that is good in the air, strong, and a target man. That man could be Emile.
Happy Fox Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Absolutely but whether NP would want I am not so sure, but his experience and his hold up play would be right up their in this division.
foxfanazer Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Not too keen on him coming back although I have heard he will be coming as a player/coach
foxesfan1989 Posted 29 April 2012 Author Posted 29 April 2012 You can't really see Nuge not leading our attack next season, so it would have to be a Nuge-Heskey partnership. For me that works, Heskey holds it up, wins it in the air, and Nuge gets the goals. For this to work though we would need Nuge to score 20+ and Heskey to chip in with a few. I think he could also compliment strikers like Waghorn well too, because of his size. I definitely want him back as he would show some much needed passion, even if he is getting on a bit.

Jace Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Pearson won't want him I don't think and he will get a higher offer elsewhere even if he did ask to return
Trav Le Bleu Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Complete city legend, but unfortunately he's just to similar to Howard, except he falls over more. Would give everything he had to our cause though. So, like Steve Howard then?
Haydos Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 No. 34 already and would more than likely want 30-40k a week to come here.
Happy Fox Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 No. 34 already and would more than likely want 30-40k a week to come here. Age is hardly relevant look at Kevin Phillips etc. Heskey has played 26 times in the prem this season? so Fitness is hardly a issue.
Guest parky0607 Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 No. I dont doubt his ability and have so much respect for the guy but I think he would just be an expensive Steve Howard. When we are targetting young, pacey players, I cant see him fitting in.
Father Ted Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Believe me, Heskey could comfortably cut it! In his last two games he's given Wheater and Ollson headaches! He would be such an asset at this level. Edit: He is also a million times better than Howard because he has pace and can use the ball at his feet.

I mean it's a short term fix. I think everyone will be happy that Steve Howard's going to call it a day for us but everyone's chomping at the bit to get a like for like replacement it. Yeah he'll obviously be an improvement but he's not going to get us goals (which people aren't happy with about Beckford or Howard), he's going to be on a hell of a wage (which people aren't happy about Beckford) and he won't run around a lot (which people aren't happy with about Beckford). I don't think it's a step forward, that's all. And if it wasn't Heskey I don't think people would be as keen.

Guest DavidJCW Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Yes and no for all the reasons stated above... I'll leave it up to Pearson though as he's got a much better idea of where the team is going.

Mate you are missing the point how about Heskey/Beckford Partnership? likewise with Nugent I mentioned it before that throughout both Nugent's and Beckford's careers they have both profited from a target man.
katieakita Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Leicester lad and think we can agree he is not broke so lets see if Nigel wants him on a sensible wage. As for comparing him to big Steve, have a word with yourselves.Owen and Rooney rated him as a strike partner so dropping down a division and a few years on he will do for me.

Edit: He is also a million times better than Howard because he has pace and can use the ball at his feet. He has 9 goals in 90 games for Villa (only 1 in 26 this season with 0 assists). Only 3 goals and 1 assist the season before. You can't want him here that badly. I'm not saying it's all about stats but when he directly offers this little. I'd even take Beckford 100 times out of 100.

You're missing the point about how much Heskey actually contributes. 4 goals and 2 assists in the last 2 years. Not even a hard decision. Unless you think Nugent and Beckford are going to score 40 goals along side him.
