VinceNoir Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Had a couple of games now (both as Manchester City) and my first impressions are good! - The AI is much, much better. In Fifa 12 it was incredibly boring watching them dribble all over the place and never being able to get the ball even though you were Vidic chasing down a winger from Accrington Stanley. - Attacking intelligence seems to work well. Often seen a few good runs being made which is pleasing. - The controls seem better, slick passing. I'm yet to experience a pass going in a direction that wasn't intended! Other things worth mentioning: - David Silva is ridiculously good! Every single pass you make with him almost always finds its way to Aguero or Tevez, but when shooting with his left foot it's almost as good as RVP in the previous game, which seems a bit daft? But maybe that's just the standard in Fifa 13. - So far, it's been a bit easy scoring from corners. I've scored from two out of three. Maybe Silva and Nasri are just brilliant set-piece takers though. I dunno. All in all though, I'm really impressed so far!
One Arm Babba Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 I've played about 5 games as Man City and then Arsenal. City seem about right, Toure is much improved on the 12 incarnation and Aguero is quality. I found Arsenal to be fantastic though, their passing and standard formation just works and seems very fluid. The shooting has been fine tuned and seems good so far. The runs that you force the AI to make are way better and a lot less frustrating than last year. Throw ins and free kick now work much better, if the ball has rolled away, another player may run over and kick it to the set piece taker.... A nice touch. I don't really understand The new dribble thing, it seems very similar to last year. I'll get to grips with it I'm sure. One thing seems odd though.... I scored with Giroud in every game!
Haydos Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Few things.... 1) The movement engine seems a lot better. Players' all round movement is more fluid and realistic, they turn, balance and are carried by momentum. 2) Attacking intelligence - Players now make better runs without being asked to. They also hold themselves in onside positions if they're ahead waiting to be released. 3) First touch - Bit weird, bit unpredictable, seems to bobble up or run away from you a lot. Not sure if that's something I'm doing or a feature. Either way I'm not sure about it yet. 4) Dribbling - Again, more unpredicatble, which i think is a good thing, balls no longer glued to your a feet and little nicks from a defender can do anything (win the ball/not win the ball/upset your rhythm etc.) 5) Shooting - Harder. Tried it on semi assisted and it'll take a bit of getting used to. Not sure if they're ever going to make semi assisted controls default. Most people that play fifa nowadays a pretty good at it and the tika-taka passing that assisted controls allow makes it much too easy, you just tap pass a load of times and you're up the other end. It takes no skill, no idea why they don't make semi-assisted default and let people actually control what they're doing. All in all, seems a decent effort, i'm sure more things will become apparent when the full games released.

Ashley Posted 12 September 2012 Posted 12 September 2012 Played this before work I have to say wow. Pace is no longer effective it's all about being sensible with the ball and not blowing my own trumpet but anyone who's played against me knows I love possession play. Sweeeeeeeeeeeet

Only by using an American PSN account and thereby downloading it from the US PSstore. EA just confirmed it will be on the European PS store at 4pm today.

VinceNoir Posted 12 September 2012 Posted 12 September 2012 Haha, I'm already getting a little bored by the "And today's home team are 4th in their league and today's visitors are 10th in their league" EA tend to put a lot of the commentators' focus on the new features and it gets boring very quickly! I think it was Fifa 10 or 11 when celebrating your goals was introduced, the commentators kept mentioning something like "Oh look, there he goes with the aeroplane celebration" . Doesn't annoy me really, but it would be better if EA were a bit more subtle about it and that the commentators didn't mention it before every match. Maybe it will be better in the full game
syston_fox Posted 12 September 2012 Posted 12 September 2012 Arsenal are 5 but Dortmund and Milan are not. Arsenal now 4 and half on mine.... Everytime I load it from the home menu, the formations are different and stuff like that. Sometimes Aguero starts and sometimes he's not in the squad etc.
