Jace Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 I was reading this review on the Ricoh today and came across this story which made me laugh, anyone have any further info about this or knows if it is true or not? As some of you know I am not a big fan of Coventry so I am hoping it is very much true, If it is then bloke involved should be given a season ticket for life at the KP http://www.footballg...ans_review5.htm When The Ricoh Arena was being constructed twelve months ago there was a rumour circulated in the local media that a Leicester supporter employed as part of the construction firm had buried in the foundations a Leicester City shirt in order to jinx the Sky Blues at their new stomping ground and to bode ill for them in derby matches against the Mighty Foxes. This only added spice to the game and antagonised the natives further to whip up anti-Leicester sentiment.
Guest parky0607 Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 I dunno but if its true the lad deserves a pat on the back
Webbo Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 I thought it was the other way around a Cov fan had buried his shirt at the KP. Probably an urban myth said about all new grounds.
purpleronnie Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 What's strange is that even if someone did do that its meaningless. Bottom line is they're just shit.
jonthefox Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 I think they cursed themselves moving to that dump. When construction started, it was the first time the pikeys went quietly.
Guest Bilo Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 We didn't win there till this season, so the 'derby' jinx didn't exactly work did it?
Guest Bilo Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 Yet another near sell out at the Ricoh there They'd better get used to it. Tuesday night games against Yeovil aren't going to be well attended to say the least.
Austin Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 I heard this ages ago, been told by so many people that it's true. Agree though, zero impact on our games, Cov are just SHIT.
ozleicester Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 Im pretty sure this is true, i think there is a photo somwhere.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 You hear this all the time, remember Spurs fans saying they did that at the Emirates.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 A couple of years ago I was playing poker in the G Casino, hey I was wearing a White Leicester shirt, and I got some right stick about a LCFC being at the bottom of the stadium, myth it not they believe it, but then again never listen to what you here at a poker table
foxer Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 My Dad is a tiler and him and his work partner were tiling the home dressing room and spray painted LCFC forever onto the walls in there before they tiled it. When I saw this thread it jogged my memory so I just called him to check. They didn't bury a shirt in there though unfortunately, that must have been someone else if that's true, but its a fact that the dressing rooms are 'cursed'/cov are shit!
J.Lisemore Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 Definately true, I remember seeing a photo in the Mercury a few years ago.
MrAus Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 Definately true, had it confirmed by a bricky i work with, he was working on the stadium and knows who did it !
1964FOX Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 I know one of the lads who did it and it wasn't just one Leicester shirt apparently a Liverpool fan also put one (of theirs) in a wall cavity as well.
Houdini Logic Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 Blaming a curse is giving them way too much credit. I'd say shit city, shit club, shit management, shit players and shit fans is more likely the cause
flowwolf Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 Blaming a curse is giving them way too much credit. I'd say shit city, shit club, shit management, shit players and shit fans is more likely the cause Suppose they should change their name to Coventry shitty then.
Matt Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 Blaming a curse is giving them way too much credit. I'd say shit city, shit club, shit management, shit players and shit fans is more likely the cause Irrelevant - They have none.
glen parva fox Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 I heard when they built the ricoh a Leicester brickie put a Leicester shirt in the foundations!
acooling08 Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 Even if an LCFC shirt is buried there, anybody who believes that it makes Cov shit is a fvcking moron.
