You're criticising a keeper for not saving penalties? Seriously?

Can someone ban this guy, his views on football and Ireland offend me.

Not to mention that he supports Villa and his fvcking managerial polls.

As has been hinted at by others...

To get to the cusp of the semi-finals (our joint-best showing for 16 years) without three first choice players (Walker, Wilshere, Cahill) and a couple of very good squad players (Lampard, a Champions League winning captain and Barry, a virtual ever-present for the Premier League winners), the ex-Captain about to stand trial, a manager who had been in the job six weeks and our best player banned for the first two matches, was nothing short of remarkable.

Ashley Young can fvck off though. I hope Pizza Hut don't even do him the courtesy of the offer of an advert. A spineless penalty, capping a spineless display.

Ashley Young was appalling through out the tournament, where was Adam Johnson?

We were in a group with Sweeden and the Ukraine, I'd hardly call it remarkable. More a case of getting as far as we should have.

Seen Logan get stick too. Remember picking someone up on it.

Total joke to expect a keeper to save penalties. The only penalties that are saved are bad ones.

The important thing is to not overreact.

We didn't play thrilling football. We did though look organised and the players knew their jobs.

2014 is the time to really judge Roy. He'll have had a tournament, plenty of friendlies, several qualifiers and hopefully an overhaul of the squad.

If the football is still defensive then we can really criticise. But in the month or so he's had we've done ok. We had a tough group, got through it and took Italy to penalties. We can learn from it, and I hope we will.

I like Joe Hart, and I think he's had a good tournament, but I think it's time that the goalkeepers started to take a share of the blame for our penalty failings.

Since 1990 we've had 7 shootouts. How many penalties have we saved in that time? 3? 4? I'd be willing to bet that every other major footballing nation is averaging at least one save in each shoot-out.

It's about time our keepers started to take some responsibility.

On the plus side, I do feel more optimistic about the World Cup now.

A less than challenging qualification group if we're honest, good young players likely to be given a run out and new found defensive organisation likely to improve as Hodgson really makes his mark.

We might actually be able to look forward to a tournament rather than have a sense of foreboding for the first time in a while.

Scotland were so embarrassing at the World Cup in 1998 that they refused to qualify for another for 16 years at least.

Sweden comfortably beat a French team that had previously gone 23 games unbeaten (including a win in Germany) and Ukraine were the host nation.

It wasnt the hardest group in the world, but it was far from a walkover, particularly in the circumstances.

The only reason they want the 2020 bid is because they know, it's the only chance they have on qualifying!

Yes but that doesn't make it remarkable really does it?

Only penalties that get saved are bad ones. Keepers aren't meant to save them. Other nations save them because the takers allows it to happen.

We need to improve our bottle if we're going to go to shoot-outs. You don't miss, you don't lose, simple as that. We always bottle it.

Well, when you only manage to qualify for a tournament once in a generation and your national league is set to become the laughing stock of Europe you have to be inventive in deriving pleasure.:D

I thought Roy got it wrong tonight to be honest. Our midfield 2 was being completely overrun by their middle 3 and he didn't do anything about it. I appreciate that he didn't have too many options due to injury but he could have moved Milner inside or brought on Jagielka to protect the back four.

Thought he was wrong to take off Milner and Welbeck who were having decent games and to play an unfit and out of form Rooney for two hours was criminal - he never looked likely to produce anything and didn't. Same for Ashley Young - its like starting with 10 men with him in the side. Totally ineffectual.

Rant over.

Its always hard to take for a footballing nation of our stature but we all knew this was coming. I feel people around the country are getting a little carried away with their anger and frustration.

I now believe the FA truly realise what changes are needed for the very roots of English football, however we will probably have to endure 3 or 4 more tournaments like this one until we see the fruits of the these changes.

However it is ridiculous we will never be able to implement the changes the Germans made at the start of the 00's thanks to our footballing structure being completely weighted in favour of our clubs, their mercenary owners, the Premier League and Sky, all of which couldn't give a flying **** about our national side, which is the direct opposite of the German attitude.
