Webbo Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 It's very unlikely that any European team can win a World Cup in South America. That's our chance of winning a tournament gone for another 4 years.
Guest ttfn Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Only penalties that get saved are bad ones. Keepers aren't meant to save them. Other nations save them because the takers allows it to happen. We need to improve our bottle if we're going to go to shoot-outs. You don't miss, you don't lose, simple as that. We always bottle it. So you think that other teams' penalties are better against England than other countries? Because our goalkeepers are not saving them at the same rate as other countries, regardless of our players' penalty quality.

Captain... Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Can't really criticise anyone as others have said an average squad to start with, weakened further by injury and arrogant players not wanting to be on the reserve list. Very little time to prepare, a credible campaign a disappointing end on penalties but two years to build this team and we may even qualify for the world cup.
Webbo Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 How is that relevant to this match? It's not, how anyone can blame Hart who has had a good tournament is beyond me.
MooseBreath Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 I think serious questions need to be asked about our fitness. There's really no reason why we should have looked so tired after the 60 minute mark and Wayne Rooney should have been in absolutely top shape given that he only played two games.
BlueSi13 Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Scottish Facebook (now former) friends: "Yesssss" "Get it up you" "SOOOOOO happy" etc etc. Such delight in a neighbour's misery. Small-time.
purpleronnie Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 When is Wayne Rooney ever going to be dropped! nope.

To be honest, Spain and Germany are so far ahead of the game in Europe you could just as easily say that about our opponents tonight. A quarter final or semi final in two years' time would represent a success realistically. 2016 and 2018 are what we should be aiming at now.
Libertine Dream Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Also even Gally beat him on a pen Hardly that bad, Gallagher takes one of the best penalties you see

Jimothy Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 So you think that other teams' penalties are better against England than other countries? Because our goalkeepers are not saving them at the same rate as other countries, regardless of our players' penalty quality. I think you're plucking an idea that other teams keepers save more penalties out of thin air when you have no idea if it's true. Penalty shoot-outs in major tournaments are quite rare really, and I bet other nations keepers don't really save at a higher rate than ours, until they play us where we take shit penalties. As you brought it up you can check your facts cos I can't be arsed. At the end of the day if we took better penalties we'd have progressed, we didn't.
Tom17LCFC Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 It feels like there's a new bond within the squad. Most of the players genuinely want to play for England (Carroll especially, chased everything tonight). the only downside is ashley young and his dirty little pricky face, can't stand him.
Tielemans63 Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 I think serious questions need to be asked about our fitness. There's really no reason why we should have looked so tired after the 60 minute mark and Wayne Rooney should have been in absolutely top shape given that he only played two games. As I've said in my post above, Hodgson should've changed things to give Parker and Gerrard more support. They were swamped in midfield and he did nothing to try to level things up in midfield - no wonder they were both fooked.
Webbo Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Reality check folks. http://www.dailymail...ies-cancer.html 23 is no age. Such a shame.
acooling08 Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Was written for Young to miss that penalty. Poor all tournament, terrible tonight, and missed the penalty to put us on the back foot.
Guest Bilo Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Reality check folks. http://www.dailymail...ies-cancer.html Dreadful. Evil bastard of a disease.
HEGGSY Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Cheering on Italy purely because I have the shirt. Although they knocked us out and in reality, I couldn't give a shit who wins it now. Its Germany's all day long, IMO.
Smudge Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Can someone explain the merits of passing back to Hart when it's as easy to pass to an outfielder? Hart is immediately put under pressure and inevitably the ball comes back at us. Time and time again that happened and we lose possession. Add that to the fact that no-one up front could control the ball, made for a very frustrating watch. Milner looked knackered in every game, beats me how he started every game.
Leicesterpool Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 We need a fresh midfield I think Gerrard's time is up, Lampard missed out on the tournament but I don't think he would been much anyway plus his age. Chamberlin looks positive in the centre midfield, fingers crossed the same with Jack Wiltshire for when he joins us.
