First couple of months I had a 15 man squad and somehow kept in distance to stay up. End of the transfer embargo I bought in a Aden Flint on loan (inspired if I say so myself), Obika and Chris Brown as well. Signed Hilario and a few other frees and despite being woefully inconsistent stayed up by 3 or 4 points. Agreed to sign this lad on a free as well;

Dan Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 Just had a bash on it for the new season. 2nd after 6 league games but embarrassingly drew at home to Freiburg who didn't have a point from their opening 5, and have just been smashed 4-0 at Barcelona in the 'Champions' League group. We're a good side but I don't fancy us to win anything this year. Board have completely fvcked me over this time. Only signed one player - Massimo Bruno. £5mil. That's what you get with a shit budget. There was no way I was sticking with Varela all season and whilst Bruno hasn't hit Farfan's level yet, he's been promising. The player really disappointing me though is Corchia. So prone to mistakes it's untrue. Practically gifted a goal in the last three games now, embarrassing stuff.
NewburyFox Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 Reached the end of our second season in Ligue 1, and finished in 6th place, just outside of European qualification. It's been a very good and productive season, but we're going to need to spend some money to hit the next level and I doubt that that money is available. Vada (or his agent) is now demanding £92,000 a week!! This would amount to roughly a 900% wage increase I really don't want to lose him but I'm going to try to shift him this summer and reinvest the money as we should get a sizable wedge for him.

I remember FM 09, I think, I had Genero Zeefuik who turned into an absolute BEAST while playing Toulouse. He scored nearly 1 a game in the first season, was injured for half a year and came back to score 1 (ONE!) goal in 21 apps for the second half of the second season. I could've sworn he'd been cursed. Just persist, Corchia's talent will shine eventually!

Destro and Muriel are free at the end of the first year, sign them, loan them out, sell them for £15m and £10m respectively at the end of the second. Honda is free at the end of the second, etc. Always check whose contracts are expiring.

I've always liked to take players from the academy and give them a chance but since my return i've focused a lot more of balancing the players correctly between the B team and u21's. I've actually just attended two of my u21's matches in the u19 Champions League during the winter break and watched them beat Real Madrid and Arsenal on their way to making the final

Europa League 2031 with Sparta, Bayern CL winners and Europa League winners consecutive years into the early 40's. I did a Chelsea. Pretty poor on the European front with Sparta given how long i've been with them

I've noticed that with this game, none of my players have attracted any interest from bigger clubs unless they're in the last six months of their contract.
Finnegan Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 Funny that, when I played in La Liga, my players' set values were very low but they sold like hot cakes - even at silly prices (I sold Jesus Corona, a fairly average mid table winger for 30m!) Playing in Ligue 1 at the moment and my players all have inflated values but nobody wants to sign them, even on frees. Clearing the rubbish from my squad was impossible.

Are you able to ask him to lower his wage demands? Although it's not likely to make much difference as long as that agent is there. You must've riled him up pretty bad for him to hate you. Hence why you shouldn't try to buy unrealistic targets or break off negotiations if you can actually make an offer that can be accepted (even if this means pulling out all the stops). You can always cancel the transfer later without taking the agent relationship hit. You probably left it too long until trying to negotiate a new contract with him and every subsequent time you've worsened it. I agree to be honest, but can't seem to get any interest in him.
