Jordan Posted 7 July 2013 Posted 7 July 2013 After I've spent a long while building up my reputation in this game, I may go on a "Sven-Göran Eriksson Challenge" of some sorts by trying to take as many ridiculous high-paying gigs in as many countries as possible before retiring.

Impossible to emulate Sven. You'd actually lose your reputation after constant failure (something he's seemingly immune to)
The Horse's Mouth Posted 7 July 2013 Posted 7 July 2013 Impossible to emulate Sven. You'd actually lose your reputation after constant failure (something he's seemingly immune to) Didn't Hartlepool reject him? I'm pretty sure his reputation is dead m8
Dan Posted 7 July 2013 Posted 7 July 2013 Fair point. To be fair his reputation over here is probably at an all time low.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 7 July 2013 Posted 7 July 2013 His time at us has completely ruined him, I don't know whether we should be proud of that or not
The Horse's Mouth Posted 7 July 2013 Posted 7 July 2013 True his time at County was a cry for help, I think we are the last chance he is ever likely to get.
Dan Posted 8 July 2013 Posted 8 July 2013 End of this season, absolute crock of shite really. Best thing was the fact Bayern didn't lose until the final day
Ozwin Posted 8 July 2013 Posted 8 July 2013 I love how into this game you're getting Dan Somehow I am 11th in January after scoring a massive 15 goals all season. dat brick wall defence
The Horse's Mouth Posted 9 July 2013 Posted 9 July 2013 End of this season, absolute crock of shite really. Best thing was the fact Bayern didn't lose until the final day shame, least you've got champions league footie in the bag.
LCFC FOX Posted 10 July 2013 Posted 10 July 2013 Neil Danns is an absolute mercenary. I have him in my league 1 season at Rotherham, good player for me to be honest
Ozwin Posted 10 July 2013 Posted 10 July 2013 I'm in my 3rd season and he's still bloody here, 30K a week going out on loan to Crawley Town in League 1. I'm paying him 30K a week for that! Madness.
LCFC FOX Posted 10 July 2013 Posted 10 July 2013 Hes on 3k a week for my Rotherham team in league 1 Weird thing is I signed him on a free at the start of the season?
Dan Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Why is he still there third year? I swear his deal's up at the end of the second? 30/6/2014 on FM13 is the best day ever if you manage Leicester. The day you literally free up about half a wage budget. Started well with Schalke this year, won my opening 3 in the league very comfortably although haven't really been tested. Won my cup game 11-0 and my opening 'Champions' League game starts with a thriller at Fenerbahce, 3-1 down with half hour left and won 3-4.
Ozwin Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Yeah misread it, he's gone now. Wellens retired too. Praise the lord.
Fox92 Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Yeah misread it, he's gone now. Wellens retired too. Praise the lord. There is an error on my game. Rangers agreed to sign Wellens for free ('approach to sign'), completed the deal, but it says on his profile 'joining Rangers on 01.07.1900'. So basically, I'm in 2024 now, Wellens is about 43 and in Leicester reserves, earning 20k a week. (I don't manage Leicester either).
Dan Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 Sigh. We're still really unconvincing. Can't see us winning the title back for a good 3 seasons.
Jordan Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 I'm tearing through this Þróttur save like FM2014 is gonna come out tomorrow. Ridiculous fixture congestion took my 4th season (2nd in IPL) completely off track. I was top 2, in the Icelandic Cup semis and won 2 Europa League stages to reach the playoff round... Then we fell apart, got knocked out of both tournaments and finished 6th out of 12 in the league. But I signed on for another year in charge. Things turned right around the next season, though: I won the preseason "Upper League Cup," and followed that up by winning the league--both firsts for the club. I actually cut down on numbers in my first-team squad and was finally able to loan out youngsters to teams in the top two flights, so everyone was getting playing time and was happy. I was on $1.1k/week there, and with my contract running out, I was thinking about a new challenge. The board came back with an offer of 3 years at $775/week, so I just flat-out rejected it. After a week or so, I realized I'd have to build my reputation up a bit more, but when I went back to the chairman to ask for another deal, he gave me all these asshole passive-aggressive reasons why he wasn't giving a deal They eventually got back to me, we haggled for a few weeks, and I was able to turn their $775/week for 3 years into $1.3k/week for 2 more years. And then I was a little embarrassed for myself for making such a big deal about fake job contract negotiations... I think my squad is good enough to repeat as champs, with a couple of new depth additions and some younger players finally ready for 1st team action. I just have to negotiate potential fixture congestion a little better this time. I can't scout Europe, but I've got perhaps the 3 best young Icelandic goalkeepers in the league (a 21-year-old that's 3rd choice on the national team plus two u-21 keepers), the Young Player of the Year in defense, and if not the best Icelandic midfielder in the league now, what will be the best domestic midfielder in a season or two. The Champions League qualifying is going to be hilarious... It seems like sometimes, you can get lucky and play a team that's completely lacking in match fitness, but I'll probably get smoked.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 There is an error on my game. I had that error to with my Toon save, was signing Metzelder as a coach from German team, and hes coming in 1900
LCFC FOX Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 3rd season won the league with Rotherham! Going into my 4th season now and heading into the Championship. Got a few old players leaving and have no idea to bring in. What doesn't help I still have the same wage budget I had when I was in league 2 and can offer 3.2k p/w max. I have never managed in the championship so far in before so no clue who would be good enough. Jesse Lingard will probably be my first new signing

Jesse Lingard will probably be my first new signing I used to always sign young lads on frees usually released by top clubs that could be sold on in that scenario.... I would often generate 1m a season when in league 2 or 1 just doing that... every now and then they even gave me a couple of quid to spend because of it!
GLC Posted 14 July 2013 Author Posted 14 July 2013 Wanted to try something new, so I started with TNS in the welsh league, First job, get them in to the next round of the champs league!
GLC Posted 14 July 2013 Author Posted 14 July 2013 Wow, came up against Zeljeznicar (champions) in the Bosnia & Herzegovina league, drew the first leg 1-1 (both teams scored in injury time) I went very defensive in he second leg (5-2-2-1) and won 1-0!!!
