Finnegan Posted 23 June 2013 Posted 23 June 2013 I can't offer my star players new contracts because I can't afford the wages they want. I've already lost a central midfielder (leaving on a free at the end of the season) because I can't offer more than £15,000. My star player Vada, currently on like £10k, is asking for over £35,000pw (well his agent is, who apparently hates me) which I've got no hope of meeting. His contract expires in 18 months but I really don't want to lose him. Hopefully he will have reduced his demands in the summer and I can offer a bit more money. Anyone else had problems like this? I understand that unfortunately this is a very natural problem in the footballing world Have you tried locking the actual wage at the highest you can offer and seeing what the agent negotiates? Can you lump on a **** load of bonuses to persuade him? Without bankrupting the club, can you offer a per game / goal bonus that compensates the wage drop? Twenty five grand's a pretty big gap but eh well. Lost 2-0. I don't think I've ever won a derby. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJaGS-Q5Tn4
shen Posted 24 June 2013 Posted 24 June 2013 Then they won't pick up shoots with power. Don't listen to this 'human'. Shoots with Power can be a fine trait, especially if it's a central striker with fine Finishing and Technique. Composure further ensures he'll hit the target. Not only will you get spectacular goals once in a while, but against opposition with a poor reflex keeper, the striker can virtually shoot through him and score. Sod the boring 'places shots' I say!! I've got some questions about the FM2013 Editor: If I make a change (i.e. add a player or change a team's kit) with it, can I put that in a game that's already started, (and if so, how?) or would that only take effect in a new game? Like in previous editions, I'm pretty sure that will only take effect in new games.
Finnegan Posted 24 June 2013 Posted 24 June 2013 Shoots With Power is the worst ppm going. I'll take my thirty placed goals a season over your two worldies.

Finnegan Posted 24 June 2013 Posted 24 June 2013 Fair point, actually. Antoine ****ing Griezman pay attention.
Libertine Dream Posted 24 June 2013 Posted 24 June 2013 I spoke too soon... we went WWWDWW in the last six games (including back-to-back away wins to end the season) and got some unexpected help from the two relegated teams to sneak into 2nd place by one point and win promotion I've got some questions about the FM2013 Editor: If I make a change (i.e. add a player or change a team's kit) with it, can I put that in a game that's already started, (and if so, how?) or would that only take effect in a new game? There is the real time editor that's free I think but I'm not sure what exactly you can edit on it
Ozwin Posted 24 June 2013 Posted 24 June 2013 Got itchy feet, want to start playing again. Need game ideas though. Can't be anyone amazing as I'll get bored, needs to be scope for improvement.
shen Posted 24 June 2013 Posted 24 June 2013 Got itchy feet, want to start playing again. Need game ideas though. Can't be anyone amazing as I'll get bored, needs to be scope for improvement. Borussia M'Gladbach? Toulouse? Espanyol?
Dan Posted 24 June 2013 Posted 24 June 2013 Wow, here's a cracking screenshot that fully backs up every word you said Finners, I had Huntelaar tutoring Maupay and literally couldn't find anywhere that made him stop. But, I've signed Vossen (funnily enough) and got him tutoring Maupay immediately, the results are remarkable
shen Posted 24 June 2013 Posted 24 June 2013 It's when you right-click the tutor, you'll have an option saying "cancel tutoring"
Finnegan Posted 24 June 2013 Posted 24 June 2013 Got itchy feet, want to start playing again. Need game ideas though. Can't be anyone amazing as I'll get bored, needs to be scope for improvement. Okay, the La Masia challenge (I'm making this up as I go along, bear with me.) Pick a team you like, but are largely crap, in a country with talented regens (France, Spain, Brazil, England, Argentina, all pretty good, Croatia and Czech Republic not bad.) Go in to the editor and set Youth Recruitment, Youth Training and Training Facilities to 20 each for your chosen club. Make Alexandre Ceolin your Chief Scout and Wolfgang Dremmler as your Head of Youth Development. Start the game. Sign no player over the age of eighteen in the first two seasons, after that sign no player over the age of 17 and wherever possible aim for 14/15 year olds with no professional contract (IE, pay compo.) Gain a point for every full international. Gain a further point for every full international from your home country. Gain a further point for every full international from a top 20 rated country. Gain a further point for every full international actually generated at your club. Gain a further two points, per player, for every international trophy won by your products. Gain five points, per player generated at your club and in the first team squad, for every Champions League victory. If someone could be actually bothered to work out how many points Barcelona would have under this system then that'd probably actually help. As it is, I can't.
JoeyB Posted 24 June 2013 Posted 24 June 2013 Half way through a season with Spurs challenging for the Title, and just signed Falcao for 28M in jan, put him up top with Lewandowski! gonna be a dream partner ship!!!
Ozwin Posted 24 June 2013 Posted 24 June 2013 Borussia M'Gladbach? Toulouse? Espanyol? I've never been a fan of starting in a top league, I don't know why, feels like I haven't earned it or something I'm gonna end up starting as Leicester...again...I just know it.
Frost Posted 24 June 2013 Posted 24 June 2013 No clue who to start as, someone throw a suggestion at me. I nearly got enticed into starting in the Icelandic league from what I read. That youngster game save didn't sound too bad, bit of effort though (and feels like I'm cheating a bit). Started as so many teams on FM & the only game I've ever done well with on the last 2 FM's is with Heidenheim (German 3rd div). Back to back promotions on both occasions, reached CL final & won the Bundesliga twice in the first save. Other than that, no-one. I'm seriously tempted to start in the Icelandic league, how bizarre.

Finnegan Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 That's an interesting one, see if you can produce the entire Czech side!!
darko2k7 Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 Crewe Are a very good team to start with, very good youth set up and some cracking coaches already at the club . Have a Notts county save going atm . Got them up as champions of league 1 my first year with none other former city player Billy Mckay as my star striker (16 goals) . Currently top of Championship 6 games gone P6 W4 D2 L0 and have just beaten Everton away 2-3 in the league cup 2nd round My team is not even that good Just seem to have made a very good tactic which i used when the game first came out to guide City to the top, have just had to tweak it a bit for updated patch . David Davis is a very good loan CM if any one league One standard needs one .
Fox92 Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 Had a very good start to my return to the Premier League. Beat Manchester United 3-0 and drew 0-0 away at Arsenal. Just beat Luton 3-0 in the Carling Cup as well. Wish I would keep this form up all season, but I know I won't. Still, played two conceded none and scored three
darko2k7 Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 Just beaten Forest 1-3 away from home then Davis got sacked
Richard Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 Not managing City but kept track on them and this is what could have happened last season: Pearson sacked in December with City in 19th. O'Neill in to replace him, but city slide down to 23rd by January. A 3-0 loss in the FA cup 4th round to Liverpool and the Thai's announce a transfer embargo as the club is up for sale, just after the Liverpool game. The morning after new owners take over (less than 24 hours later) buying the club for around £10m and promising an extra £15m to be I be injected. Day after (Monday) the new owners announce they're spending £3m on new training facilities. Then a week after that the plans are "sensationally scrapped" as the new owners see it as unviable. I've never seen anything like it in FM before, in fact I've never seen the Thai's leave in the 1st 5 seasons on FM13
Dan Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 I'd love that to happen on one of mine simply because I'd love to take Leicester back up
Libertine Dream Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 Apparently you can have your son come through if you have a player play for you for 10 seasons and then retire, has anyone had this happen?

I've got one with Crewe, loved it for the first few seasons but then I got taken over by a Korean tycoon and it seemed to ruin it for a couple of seasons as I had all the money in the world and the pressure that goes with it. I've now gon back to focusing on the youth team and everything but still that's been ruined by the investment
