Daggers Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 Where do I stand when advertising for "A bird with big tits"?
acooling08 Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 Of course it is breaking the law, whether or not there should be a law against this type of advertising is open to debate. Imagine the outcry if they said 'Whites only'
Nick Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 Lord, please give me the strength not to post what I really think about the comments made by Acooling in this thread.
Leicfox Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 Of course it is breaking the law, whether or not there should be a law against this type of advertising is open to debate. Imagine the outcry if they said 'Whites only' How do you know it's not White landlords wanting ethnic tenants.
davieG Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 I preferred it when people knew their place in society. Bloody dogs!
21st Century Fox Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 Jesus, does acooling have some kind of bat signal that goes up for threads like this.
Tom17LCFC Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 How do you know it's not White landlords wanting ethnic tenants. I don't really see how that makes a difference? Regardless of the tenants being white, asian, black or whatever, if they put up an advert saying 'whites only', there'd be uproar.
I am Rod Hull Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 The latest Barratts survey shows that you can get upto 14 Asians into a 1 bedroom flat but only 4 whities, thus making the landlord more spondoolies per square metre of flat. Its simple economics.

Smudge Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 Where do I stand when advertising for "A bird with big tits"? Back of Kings Cross unless they've moved on
Rincewind Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 If anyone who objects wants to actually apply for houseshare with Filpinos or Muslims and don't mind living by the house rules then they are right to object. Maybe they should word the adverts different like it said. Four Muslim students seek fifth yo share flat an and accompany to mosque four times a day. Who will apply? In the same way room to spare for anyone who doesn't mind sharing with someone that wears union boxer shorts and T shirts around the house and is not offended by a skinhead haircut. Female looking for a flatmate. Applicant must not have a penis. Is that discrimination?
Captain... Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 are adverts in lonely hearts columns sexist? Yes you must advertise equally to both men and women. I would rather know that I am ruled out when I see the ad than go to the house look around, meet the tenants and then not get the room because I am white, or a satanist. The article doesn't really focus on the rampant age discrimination, smokism or petophobia that is prevalent in flat ads, not to mention the way the exclude poor people by charging rent. Just look at spareroom.com it is just full of elitism and oppression, they even have a category to exclude DSS, they might as well say no scroungers.
cambridgefox Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 Where do I stand when advertising for "A bird with big tits"? Erect.moved on from your semi.
Parafox Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 14 Asians in a 1 bedroom flat, pah! You can get like 30 clowns into a Mini. Of which acooling would be one
Guest Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 Erect.moved on from your semi. Are rentals for a semi more than for a terrace?
Parafox Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 Are rentals for a semi more than for a terrace? Only if you've got 2 up, 2 down
Lamby Posted 3 July 2012 Posted 3 July 2012 "House for rent… only Asian families" So them and their 32 children then? Pesky people get everywhere
acooling08 Posted 12 July 2012 Posted 12 July 2012 So them and their 32 children then? Pesky people get everywhere Haha! If I'd have said that, I'd have been crucified by many on here.
The Doctor Posted 12 July 2012 Posted 12 July 2012 So them and their 32 children then? Pesky people get everywhere Substitute pesky for stupid, everywhere for on to the internet, and you can accurately describe a disappointingly large section of this forum.
