marty78 Posted 25 September 2012 Posted 25 September 2012 It really doesn't pay to lie around like this: That is one fvcking seriously cool Kangeroo. Just needs a cigar.
OzFox Posted 25 September 2012 Posted 25 September 2012 That is one fvcking seriously cool Kangeroo. Just needs a cigar. Yeah, but not as cool as this one
ozleicester Posted 25 September 2012 Author Posted 25 September 2012 Any evidence to prove its accuracy? I see a lot of hearsay and sensationalism in this thread but personally I'm more a fan of cold hard facts backed up with empirical evidence. There are uncountable numbers of cold hard facts, but im not going to waste my time getting them for you, if you are foolish enough to believe there isnt cruelty then nothing i say or show you will be evidence enough. By the way... whats with all the "I ate this " etc.... I asked what you WOULDNT eat..and why. Considering the wondrous brain power that has been given to us as a "result of eating meat", you would think that most people are capable of reading, understanding and responding to a simple question. Im sure many people have eaten many things, and some feel proud of being able to do so...(lets face it, of all the things ive done in my life...being able to digest food rates SO highly on my pride scale) but really, if you think its that interesting and important, perhaps you should make a topic?

There is nothing I wouldn't eat if the situation called for it. I don't recall my exact response to your question but I used the fact that I've eaten dog to answer it through implication. I felt this was a lot more succinct than making a long list. I'm sorry you aren't able to process information which isn't presented in a very basic black & white format.

You are right, that's quite a lengthy list isn't it, It must have taken you quite some time to put it together As for answer through implication, i can therefore assume that you will be happy with a chunk of human meat on your plate?
OzFox Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Kind of ironic that my pooch pictures have been Webbo'd for being "unnecessarily gruesome". The process itself is unnecessarily gruesome and in my opinion should be put out there for all to see. Same goes for all other forms of animal slaughter. If you want to eat meat, at least don't be ignorant about it. Open your eyes and see how it's prepared.

If those pictures are offensive.... then... how do you reconcile EATING ANIMAL CARCASS. :dunno: Do people not understand that you have to.... kill, skin, mutilate, and then incinerate animals in order to eat meat??????????????? As an aside, i find all of the pictures of dead animal (in the form of roasts, burgers etc) offensive...can they please be taken down?

They were quite grim, I see your point, and it is in some ways no different to having pictures of diseased lungs on cigarette packets. But you have to understand that is a forum for all ages and those pictures could be distressing to younger members, I think linking them with a suitable disclaimer would have been better, it wasn't what I wanted to see whilst having breakfast yesterday, which was a bowl of fruit and fibre and not puppy sausages and cat bacon.

Why hide the truth? (God I'm sounding like Zingari) I think younger members should be exposed to it, then they're more likely to do something about it when they're older. Like eat fruit and fibre for instance.

I could've deleted your whole post but I let you make your point, you must have expected them to be deleted anyway.

Fair point and im opposed to diseased lungs and "horror" road accident adverts as i think they are cheap shock value and just turn people off the intended message, lets face it, all those folk smoking have seen the pictures and they are still not stopping, the human mind is able to block/justify many things in order to continue doing what we want.. But, it does run the risk of claims of "PC gone mad". How does anyone decide what is offensive to others? Lots of things in life are gruesome doesn't mean we all want to see pictures of them. To be fair, I don't think many people on here eat dog on a regular basis, or become Korean dog farmers, so I don't think it is necessary to dissuade them from doing so.

You are right about the human mind being able to block/justify/qualify those images, like I did, in saying I don't eat dog, so it doesn't apply to me. If anything those kinds of images desensitize us to those kind of issues if over used, and the more extreme they are the more sanitary and humane the mass killing techniques described earlier seem. They can certainly stimulate debate, and raise issues, but not when shoved, unbidden in people's faces.

You're dead right, if people can't cope with those pictures, then maybe they should think about trying to change the way they're contributing to the problem, rather than deleting them and burying their heads in the sand.

Agreed, and as i think youll have noticed i have refrained from using them during my discussions here, however, i understand and agree with Ozfox's decision to place them, shock is often the only way to react to complacency and the people who were comfortably discussing the eating of dog etc... i think we can assume they had not considered how those animals were raised, kept and slaughtered. Still the question exists as to what is offensive or shocking, a skinned dog is to me...barely different to a lump of animal on a plate

Still the question exists as to what is offensive or shocking, a skinned dog is to me...barely different to a lump of animal on a plate Well if you think of a burger as an animal, skinned and butchered having it's body ground down into a mushy paste, then squashed together and burnt, it is not offensive, but it is killed before all of that. Once an animal is dead, it is not important to me whether it is carefully laid to rest in a grave, or hacked into fleshy lumps to be eaten raw by savages. Dead is dead and that is the end of it, what concerns me more is the way it is treated while it is alive, and how it is killed, and that its preparation for consumption is sanitary.

You are starving, and you know that rescuers are on their way, but you need to eat something. Would you? Could you? And what would you eat first?

I think eating my own meat would be easier than eating somebody else. Not sure if there would be any health complications though. If it was safe and effective, I'd probably start with a nice slice of rump.
James. Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 I the arse is definitely the best place to start (that's not a general point by the way, I'm specifically talking about eating myself)

Like I said the more people that are exposed to disgusting practices like that the better. Otherwise it's never going to change. Look how many tourists go through China, Thailand, Korea etc and try dog for the "cultural experience"
