Cats are very popular pets among gay men. Hence they're also popular among vegetarian men.

I thought that was gerbils?

Became a pescatarian over the past months, started out as a trial to see if i could hack it, but it's going pretty well. Don't think I could ever go full veggie or vegan, as I do a lot of running and it's hard to get the same benefit from some food as it is from fish. I used to eat more chicken than the average Jamaican, but haven't really missed it one bit. The only downside is the lack of available food in just about every supermarket.

Why have you become pescatarian?

If there's a moral element to it and you want to find alternatives to eating Fish whilst remaining healthy, there are plenty of options. I've never looked far into it myself because I don't particularly care about my health. But a quick google search throws up this https://www.vegsoc.org/fatscholesterolomegas and I'm sure Ozleicester or OzFox, or some other Australian will know a little bit more about the alternatives.

I've been a vegetarian for 35 yrs; I run, and weight-train, and have never found it difficult to get the right nutrition - you just need to be a bit more thoughtful about eating a balanced diet.

It was basically because I tended to eat a fair amount of meat prior to the decision, so I thought an immediate swap may be a difficult transition; the aim is to eventually become a vegetarian, and I know it can easily be done. I've just spent a month in rural Spain where just about the only veggie food you can find is pizza and fruit though, so had to stick with fish a little longer.

As the post above says though, it is possible to be healthy and super fit without meat/fish. There are plenty of veggie, and even vegan, weight lifters around for example. If Mike Tyson can manage it, i'm sure most people can.

Yeah, Spain is a nightmare for veggies; they don't even have a word for vegetarian (they just stick an 'o' on the end).

Ask for anything sin carne and you just get a puzzled look.

lol.

I love Spain - away from the Costas, at least.

I just end up living on bocodillos quesos.

I don't think Evander Holyfield's ear counts as vegetarian food..

Seeing as they also enjoy being trampled by rampaging bulls, selling puppies in boxes that are half the size of them in shop windows and have thousands of disease ridden stray dogs rambling around the streets, I don't think stacking veggie food is top of their agenda in the near future.

Always come in land, I prefer the North of Mallorca these days, very untouched and peaceful, no police needed. Beautiful scenes, great food and fantastic people.

There's still some nice places on the Costa's to be honest, just stay away from the Torremalinos/Fungirola type places

Agree completely.

I spent a couple of weeks hiking in the mountains around Orient last June. One of my favourite parts of the world.

Two questions - 1) Have you ever actually tried Quorn products? 2) You are aware that other alternatives exist, right?

That spelling change really stamped your authority.

To be honest though I sympathise with the vegetarian message and I would become one but meat is too delicious.

I have tried Quorn yes, it's rank.

It wasn't used to stamp any kind of authority, this is an internet forum, not the Six Nations.

I get that meat has a good taste, I ate it for 22years, but I don't think that's a good enough reason. Especially considering the 1000's of alternatives. I'd imagine the vast majority of meat eaters wouldn't eat dogs & cats if they enjoyed the taste, so why cows, chickens, pigs etc? "All animals are equal, except that some are more equal than others" and all that.
