What achievements are we expecting this season?

Hope your wrong on that one MrspaM, i really do.

As for what im expecting this season, well not entirely sure yet, but just want better than last yr,cos lets be honest, anything would be an improvement on that. I want to see more passion and commitment from the players, and some decent football, i just hope its not bloody hoofball all season.

Maybe another couple of signings to bolster the team, specially if Pelts goes

And id love to see Wellens ang Gallagher on the bench all season lol:scarf:

Ooh and on a side note, fear not my fellow foxes, all is not roses at the city ground, alot of fans are very unsure about this take over, and it appears 2 managers have now turned down the job, cos the owners want a say in buying players, so its not all bad lol:thumbup:

I expect top 6, we have to improve on last year and I would be amazed if we didn't.

With the owners, personally I think they have put too much into the club (purchase and infrastructure improvements) to walk away if we don't, but that depends on the costs this season.

The way we spent money last season on multi-million pounds signings, new pitches, TV screens etc etc, I'd say that the owners took a sizeable punt that we would go up straight away, and they would almost instantly get a return on their money. We didn't, so now its a longer game plan, with a more controlled cost base, especially with the FFP rules coming in. Have faith, I like the Thai's, I think they could be around for a while.

I think 6th is a good aspiration for us as fans, (not players). If we are in the pursuing pack, people will, (hopefully), be cheering us on to catch up. If we are doing better than that, people should be ecstatic. Sadly my suspicion is that many will still expect us to get automatic promotion at a canter and will then be apoplectic because we are not in those top two positions from the first day onwards. Managing our own expectations is important, and we can always re-adjust at the turn of the year !

As usual a very sensible post Trent.

I think us fans will be prepared to give Pearson more time than Sven. Reason being haven't spent the same amount of money (yet anyway), we don't have the same massive expectation that we had pre season last year AND we know that Pearson is building a new, young squad.

However, if some have suggested, we go on to demonstrate that we actually do lack quality at this level, and Pearson starts off struggling, you watch the nature of some of the posts on here change in the blink of an eye.

I hope this doesn't happen and that his young prodigees come good. But if they struggle and continue to do so, the forum will change. I've seen it happen time over.

That's why I fully agree with you... It's about managing our own expectations that is important.

I personally see this forthcoming season as a rebuilding one.. Anything more will be a bonus IMO. It's the following season I expect us to look like title contenders.

I don't know about expect, but I hope we:

a) Finish a season with the same manager that started it

b) Finish the season without needing major team rebuilding

c) Not finish the season top of the disciplinary table, last season was very disappointing in that respect

d) Challenge and compete in every game

e) Still be in the mix at the end of the season

f) Feel proud of the club and players like we did after the Cardiff play-off semi

Doesn't seem like too much to ask.

I expect this to be another tough year, however if we can hang around the top 8 for most of the season and we see signs that, vardy, fuctas, marshall etc are all able to hold there own at this level and look like they have something to offer and that andy king starts scoring goals again, beckford strikes up a partnership with anyone....... then I would be ok with it taking one more season to get up. So long as Nigel lasts the season and is allowed to build.

What I expect may happen is, we start poorly in the 1st 2 months, resort to chucking fuctas on for the last 15 and lump it in the box in the hope of snatching a point.

the owners get as fed up with this as the fans will and pearson is gone before christmas, in time to let someone else try to rebuild a squad again in jan and that failing as well.

I want promotion. Don't care about a cup run, obviously it is nice...but does anyone feel last season went great because we did well in the FA cup? No. Top 6 is fine, and if we fail in the playoffs so be it, I would keep Nige if he got us top 6 for certain. If not...well then he would probably have to go. Hope he gets a full season regardless.

I think they will give him until Xmas to sustain a respectable and challenging position (top 8?). If not then we may see him go. Harsh perhaps, but the owners are expecting a promotion pushing season. Bringing someone else in gives them half a season to turn it around including the Jan transfer window.

It will be an acheivment to resist the urge to play 4-3-3 with our glut of strikers.

Seriously, I want Vardy chucked out on the left Wing and Nugent and Beckford alternating as Futacs' strike partner. Looking at that lad's pace, he'd make a great makeshift left winger.

Based on the squads, the favourites HAVE to be Bolton right now. Not losing too many players and buying some good ones (Mills inc). We should be around the 5/6th mark for me.

Unless I'm wrong I've not heard that Wolves have lost many have they?

Doyle, Jarvis, Johnson (Roger, not fatty) still there? They must be considered strong if this is the case surely?

And Blackburn have been linked today with Mackie....

Wolves had a championship squad last season for me, Bolton did not. Bolton are starting from a stronger place. Wolves haven't signed anyone major I haven't noticed. Blackburn should be considered one of the favourites too I agree.

Anybody? Still baffled about this?

Even if we played well all year, I'd hold off raising promotion pints even if we had an 11pt cushion on 3rd spot with only 4 games to finish off the season especially if those games were against relegation teams. It's not easy supporting this club but oddly love the anguish.

simple for me, progression, and pride in the team.

If Blackburn, Bolton and wolves are the top 3, you just have to put your hands up and say it is impossible to compete.

IMO on paper it looks as if its a solid squad but nothing more. I predict we'll finish 6-10th. Cup runs are inconsequential for me.
