Trav Le Bleu Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 I fully expect FoxesTalk to be the best football fans' forum on the internet.
MrAus Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 I expect a top 6 finish this year! Not fussed about the cups, rather concentrate fully on the league!
Corky Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 I want to see a commitment to playing football and for us to show fight in all away matches, especially at the clubs towards the bottom who the top teams usually beat. I want this forum to be a positive place due to good results and performances and the usual negative suspects (seenitall, DANGEROUS TIGER, TrickyFox) to be clutching at straws for criticisms.
bmt Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 Top 6, decent cup run in either cup (Quarter finals maybe) would be good for me.
ealingfox Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 I'm not expecting promotion, but I expect a pretty significant challenge for it. 7th or below I will inevitably consider a failure.
5waller5 Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 I'm with Bert - I completely expect to be disappointed. I'd love it if Finnegan's hopes were realised - but i think that's less likely than the top 6 finish! I expect alot of "bad luck" and alot of excuses, alot of very boring games, then NP being sacked after 18 games as we languish around 12th place ..... And then a month's wait before another uninspiring managerial appointment, and a writing off of the season as we dismantle the "young and hungry" squad and replace with talented individuals, but then not giving them time to become a team and doing the whole cycle again. I need a holiday.
StarFox Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 Our club is in serious debt. Promotion must be achieved.
LCFCCHRIS Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 Although we have signed some young players and still have time for more, I don't stall think we will get automatic promotion this year, but hope I get proved wrong (obviously) I think we will finish 6th
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 Won't go up, Won't go down. Another scrappy, inconsistent season IMO. Such optimism as always.
ScouseFox Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 Just please don't let it be as miserable, boring, expensive and shit as last year. Not too hopeful on any improvement though. Another season of a few alright performances, a lot of shit ones and nowhere near enough good ones.
jonthefox Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 I think top 6 is achieveable. I did say this last season though.
Reynard Bleu Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 6th will do fine, automatic promotion requires real a long period of winning consistency that looked a long way off last season. Having said that if we make 50% less stupid errors than last season we have a chance. Good start important this season, lifts everyone erly doors and breeds some confidence. 6th will do fine, automatic promotion requires real a long period of winning consistency that looked a long way off last season. Babylon Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 We still have the players that convincingly took apart Southampton at their place last year (except Mills), the same playesr also produced several other excellent displays. We've lost some squad players, and gained some younger, hungrier ones with a lot more to prove. As well as Morgan and Marshall who both looked decent last year. If we can cut out the the inconsistent performances, there is absolutely no reason why we can't have a great season ahead of us. But only if last seasons problems have been sorted out.
ozleicester Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 http://www.oddscheck...nship/promotion Anybody know why? That we are favourites is incomprehensible. I fully expect FoxesTalk to be the best football fans' forum on the internet. Delusions of Grandeur? I'm expecting to be disappointed. Ladies and Gentlemen we have a winner For me...lets hope for a great season, winning more than we lose, playing some nice football and being in with a chance of promotion to the very end.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 I think if we'd have had Pearson in charge from the start of last season, we'd have just about made the playoffs. Now we have a squad which I think will be gelling better and stronger from last season's experience so hopefully we'll come in the top six. But anything 8th or above I guess is progress. Just praying we don't somehow have a string of awful matches that sees Pearson fired mid-season.
reynard Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 I'm not sure what to expect at this stage. There are too many unknown factors. Will Vardy be good enough? Will Jones stay fit? etc etc. If the squad stays as it is though without any more additions then I'm not especially optimistic that we can manage much better than 10th/11th. There's just not enough quality in depth to cover long term injuries and I'm not certain that our midfiled has really got the potential to deliver the necessary drive and invention we require to feed what is not the tallest stike force. Mostly though I'd like to come away from matches feeling that I've been entertained and that the quality of football matches the high wages these guys are paid. I don't enjoy losing but I can accept it if I think we lost trying to entertain but were beaten by a better side on the day. On this front, based on last season's tactics, I can't say I'm expecting much at all.
purpleronnie Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 with the current squad I'd be happy with a top half finish.

On this front, based on last season's tactics, I can't say I'm expecting much at all. Looking at last season as a guide to this season is a mistake, NFP had to manage someone else's bloated squad, many of whom both he and they knew had to go. Their commitment was, shall we say, somewhat lacking...... Much better to look at what he achieved in the 2009/10 season when he took a modestly talented squad to within a gnat's of promotion. I think that, even now, without any further additions, our current squad is possibly stronger than the 2009/10 squad but of course it does not have the benefit of a title winning season behind it. A decent start to help build a bit of confidence and we could be pretty competitive........
Babylon Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 I find people being happy with a "top half finish" amazing. We've got rid of many players yes, but only one of them was even close to playing in the team come the end of last season and that was Bamba. The players we were mostly playing with, and the players we are left with mostly showed playoff form post Christmas. Add to that Pearson has brought in people he wants, who he thinks will improve us. I expect better than last year.
Mark_w Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 Obviously we are hoping for a successful 2012/13 season! But realistically, what would we be happy with - League position, FA/Capital Cup, Etc. My expectations are for a mid table finish, with lots of boring, mistake ridden games. As I mentioned elsewhere, "the mixture as before", which will be uninspiring. So you're not going to call for Pearson's head if that is the case, seeing as you'd be 'happy' with that?
MrSpaM Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 I've already given my two bob on what I expect, but a more important question to ask would be 'What is the likelyhood that the owners are going to stay if we dont go up this season?'. I just get a funny feeling it's make or break.
TrentFox Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 I think 6th is a good aspiration for us as fans, (not players). If we are in the pursuing pack, people will, (hopefully), be cheering us on to catch up. If we are doing better than that, people should be ecstatic. Sadly my suspicion is that many will still expect us to get automatic promotion at a canter and will then be apoplectic because we are not in those top two positions from the first day onwards. Managing our own expectations is important, and we can always re-adjust at the turn of the year !
