gazrjohnson Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 Obviously we are hoping for a successful 2012/13 season! But realistically, what would we be happy with - League position, FA/Capital Cup, Etc. Are we counting and confident on promotion this season - Bookies seem to think its a sure thing http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/promotion Last season was disapointing by all accounts, surely we are going to improve? Automatic promotion? Play off? This league looks tough this time around!
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 Top 6 would be fine with me, and if we lose in the play-offs, keep him and try again season after
sphericalfox Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 Most Irresistible Force Your team scored a goal in 30 consecutive competitive matches
MrSpaM Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 At least the playoffs this year, i think anything else would be considered a failure by pretty much everybody, I'd like to think were putting together a squad who can at least challenge for automatic though
Fox92 Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 I'd be happy with anywhere between 1st and 6th place. I believe we can achieve this position as well.

Danno Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 Anywhere above 8th and maybe do pretty well in the capital one cup or the fa cup. If we win the capital one cup/ Fa cup and not get promoted i'd still be very pleased
Happy Fox Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 Promotion will do don't care how it is done whether via the playoffs or automatic.
Harry - LCFC Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 I expect a very stong challenge for the play-offs at the very least. I won't accept another upper midtable finish like we've had the last two seasons - if that happens I'd perhaps start to believe that perhaps Nigel isn't the man for the job.
gazrjohnson Posted 17 July 2012 Author Posted 17 July 2012 To be fair, there are about 8 or 9 teams capable of promotion this term, we definately need to pick up our game! Better than last season is a given, playoffs is a realistic goal
Guest nathan. Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 Top 6 and if we lost in the PO keeping the manager would be a success
gazrjohnson Posted 17 July 2012 Author Posted 17 July 2012 Lets look at this closely: The 3 relegated teams - Bolton, Blackburn, Wolves - look strong The 3 playoff beaten teams - Brum, Blackpool, Cardiff - set to challenge again Just missed out - Boro, Hull, Brighton - will be up there Underachievers - Burnley, Ipswich, Leeds - cant be overllooked Surprise dark horses - Forrest (Yuk), Charlton, Huddlesfield, Watford. Looking at it, its going to be really tough! We need to set our stall from the off! Can we push for promotion based on this?

Every year in the championship is tough nothing to get worried about, as long as the players actually give a shit, and work their asses off we should be challenging imo.
Finnegan Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 Please god just let it be entertaining. The premiership isn't the promised land if it means paying twice for my ticket only to have to watch Nigel Pearson's best impression of Stoke. I'd rather we finish seventh, win more games than lose and do so scoring **** loads of goals than have to sit through a season as soulless as last year again. Someone needs to desperately step up and fill the gap Bombscare has left, too. I reckon it can be Ben Marshall but we'll have to see. Someone gotta be capable of a little va va voom, just ideally not a central defender.
gazrjohnson Posted 17 July 2012 Author Posted 17 July 2012 http://www.oddscheck...nship/promotion Anybody know why?
ARM1968 Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 I expect better than last season. I expect top 6. No idea if that will happen as we've got a lot of tough teams around this year - Brighton won't be easy - even Forest. 14 or so teams all capable of something. We're just one of em.

If last season was anything to go by, we'll struggle for a top half finish! Is that harsh? I agree tho Finnegan, entertainment is an achievement

There will be a lot of strong teams but we knew that already, the championship doesn't change that much - personally I don't think any of the relegated teams are better than West Ham were last time out. Plus, not all the teams you've named will be good, some will just have bad seasons e.g. Cardiff have got worse each year since they eat us in the POs.
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 I'm a Pearson fan but I'd be surprised with a top six finish.
davieG Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 I expect nothing, not success, not exciting football I've been disappointed too many times. As for what I'd like to see, what Finnegan wrote.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 My expectations are for a mid table finish, with lots of boring, mistake ridden games. As I mentioned elsewhere, "the mixture as before", which will be uninspiring.
gazrjohnson Posted 17 July 2012 Author Posted 17 July 2012 As long as we finish higher than Forrest and Derby
