the way the midfield played at pace and passed with a purpose yesterday was noticeable with out our so called playmaker from last season. I hope both he, and more importantly, Nigel noticed this and he doesn't get in as soon as he's back

you obviously can't argue the point, but if you genuinely believe he deserves/is good enough to come straight back in your a bigger moron then you often appear to be

Schmeichel - 7. Impressed, he was tested in fairness but handled everything well, loved his dramatics. lol

De Laet - 7. Defended solidly whilst being able to get forward too, his crossing is fantastic.

Morgan - 8. Beast, since the start of pre-season he's looked absolutely solid every time I've seen him.

Moore - 7. I pray to god, do NOT waste this lad, three clean sheets with him there in a week, he's a very steady player and I think he's our best defensive youth product in years. Whitbread's got real work to get in here.

Konchesky - 8. He was quality, literally not a thing wrong.

Marshall - 7. Quiet game but got an assist in fairness.

Drinkwater - 9. What the hell has happened to this lad over pre-season? I'm not one to go "HUH HUH WE DNT NEED KOREN NE WAY" but I honestly think if he keeps playing like this then we really have got our creative midfielder. His distribution was brilliant, picks a pass very well and retains the ball exceptionally. He's been fantastic all pre-season like Morgan and looks to be carrying it in, delighted.

James - 7. Quiet display but hearing he was ill makes it excusable and a credit that he still started the game.

Dyer - 7. Impressive but not amazing.

Beckford - 6. I'd say worst of a very good bunch, he wasn't even bad either I just think Peterborough's style of play was exactly the sort he hates coming up against, more a game for Nugent but in fairness I don't think anyone expected Posh to line up as defensively as that.

Vardy - 8. Very impressive. Got better the longer it went on and had a real eye for a pass, his awareness of what is around him is amazing, there were obvious flaws at times, lacks the technique a little but coming from non-league that was always going to happen. Great assist for the goal.

Subs;

King - 8. Fantastic. The old King. Didn't concede possession once, tactical masterstroke bringing King on when we scored as they would not have picked up on him - that's exactly why I knew he'd score. He had the space and his Prem quality finishing showed yet again. Love the man when on form.

Knockaert - 7. I don't how anyone could not love this lad, I'm still yet to see a single aspect of his game that's not good, you tend to find players like him are a bit one dimensional and although they're entertaining, they're limited - Knockaert isn't, his defensive work rate is actually unreal, absolutely racing back every time we lost posession. I genuinely do worry though that someone will clatter the lad and I do think he'll get sent off this season, he's a bit too aggressive at times and once he catches someone he'll be fvcked.

Nugent - 6. No complaints from me, brought on to do a job and did it.

I don't think any player should get straight back into the team, but he obviously isn't as bad a footballer as you like to make out, yes he has had one poor year (Although alongside Danns was still in the best CM partnership) but prior to that he has been a very good player for us, he's being written off far too early by a lot of our fans and everyone on here constantly having digs at him is getting really tiresome.

I wasn't impressed with Dyer he was our weak link yesterday pace with no end product which sums his game up, he would be better as an impact sub, where he can run at tired fullbacks in the last 20 minutes of a game but as a starter I wouldn't bother at all.

Nobody's saying he should be starting, we're just getting a bit ****ing bored of hearing people moan about him.

He's clearly going to be behind James, Drinkwater, King, Danns and co'. He's nowhere near the squad, he isn't even fit, just forget about him and stop bleating. We won, mellow out.

It's good to see people behind our academy graduates but those giving glowing reviews of Liam Moore need a reality check. They penetrated the defence in earnest about three times and they were all down to his errors. A creditable performance, but let's not get carried away, individually conceding three chances on goal against a team as toothless as Peterborough is concerning.

If we're being honest those 2 of those chances were when the game was won even NP commented on the fact our defening wasn't great in the last 10 but to pin that all on Liam Moore is harsh.

Only real mistake I can remember him making all game was letting Taylor get past him at the start of the 2nd half when he could have been a bit stronger! But I'll let him off.....

You're right we shouldnt be trying to encourage the lad. Can someone call the phone in tomorrow and point this out? I'll start a Facebook to organise the next time he puts a foot wrong, we boo him and start chanting, 'Sol, Sol Bamba'.

That ought to do it.

That's more like it, I'd hate to see the lad grow in confidence.

I'm sorry, I wasn't aware he takes his motivation from this thread, where we discuss how the players played.

He was well received in the ground and rightly so, may it long continue (particularly given I'm by no means in opposition to the idea that his display was decent), but his performance was relatively error stricken and I'm merely surprised that people are getting carried away, may I quote "We don't need a new centreback" from somewhere in this thread.

Still, don't let the true state of play get in the way of a good sarcastic dig, I'm all for them

Schmeichel- 7 (Little to do but when required was reliable)

De Laet- 8 (Had a potentially tough afternoon against Taylor and Boyd but coped well and supported the attack)

Morgan- 8 (Gave little away and notched a goal)

Moore- 8 (Same as Morgan without the goal)

Konchesky- 7 (Again, showed excellent stamina throughout the game)

Marshall- 7 (Quiet first half, second was good)

Drinkwater- 8 (Pressed the Peterborough players and moved the ball around the pitch quickly)

James- 6 (Quiet)

Dyer- 7 (Mixed bag from Lloyd, prepared to run but shooting was wayward)

Beckford- 7 (Effort was increased and showed some neat touches)

Vardy- 7 (Still new to this league but not afraid to take people on)

Subs-

King- 8 (Lovely goal, got stuck in more often)

Knockaert- 6 (Will be a fans favourite. Skill and effort)

Nugent- 6 (Didn't threaten a lot but held the ball up well)

Haha yeah, agreed with every decision of his today. If only all the officials in this league were as competent.

I was level with him and many around me thought our first goal should have been disallowed

Kasper's distribution a recurring theme again then? :(

Could really do with him going hell for leather improving his development areas

It wasn't too bad some of his low goal kicks found a teammate although that was more to do with luck than anything!

Couldn't disagree more ..... thought his distribution was excellent as usual.

Ratings for me - 8 all round as a few have said already .... Thought we were completely dominant and thoroughly enjoyed the game. My fear of us playing hoofball hasn't materialised and in fact I loved the fast flowing pressing style of play we've adopted.

We gave them absolutely no time on the ball and pressed hard and high up the pitch when we didn't have the ball, and when we had it fizzed it around with pace.

I was really impressed with the new guys, the performance and most surprisingly the style of play. I can't wait to see us again!!!!

Moore looked slightly lacking in pace for a modern and young CB.... but that could have been the pace of the forward that he was racing.
