Fox96 Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Schmeichel - 8, made some very good saves De Laet - 7, was impressed with him. Morgan - 8, good game and good goal. Moore - 7, again... was impressed Konchesky - 6, some good tackles and interceptions, above average. Marshall - 7, good performance from Ben again. Drinkwater - 7, good game. James - 8, very good passing and held the ball well. Dyer - 7, good runs at the opposition. Vardy - 8, incredible work ethic. Beckford - 7, some good passing and trying hard. Subs: King - 6, good goal, not much to say. Knockaert - 7, was impressed by how hard he tried, quick feet aswell. Nugent - 6, also looked good when he came on.
Legend_in_blue Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Schmeichel - 8 Two decent saves and two sublime kicks out to Marshall during the game. De Laet - 7.5 Definite improvement on Peltier. Looked physically up to the task as well. Morgan - 8 A tank and good header made for a solid performance. Moore - 7.5 One error but apart from that looked very good. Konchesky - 8 Coud have kept on going for another 90 minutes, great engine. Marshall - 7 Constant threat with free kicks and corners. Don't think I've seen a better corner taker since Guppy. Drinkwater - 8 Good performance from him, never gave anyone time on the ball. James - 6 Weakest player on the pitch IMO. Needs to react quicker to certain situations. Dyer - 7 The usual, if no end product, still caused problems. Beckford - 7.5 That was better, much better. Vardy - 8.5 My goodness me, what a shift this lad put in. Unlucky not to score as well. Constantly taking on and beating his man. MOTM for me. Subs: King - 7.5 Instant impact in replacing a subdued James. Great finish. Knockaert - 7 Technically excellent. He will rip one out of the majority in this league once he gets going. Nugent - 6.5 Needed more game time to make a lasting impact on the game. NP - 8 An inspired substitution in the second half easily saw off tinpot and their bus. Still not convinced about a flat 4 in midfield against tinpot and their bus but the quality from Marshall's set pieces finally gave us the breakthrough we needed. Ref - 9 Excellent.

Totally disagree - as soon as he went off we were opened up at the back - great midfield defensive shift, top performance
hornyhollthefox123 Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Schmeichel 7 - Kicking from hand was good, and one good save. De Laet 7 - Solid, good going forward. Good home debut. Moore 7 - Can't think of any errors, showed good composure and made some vital interceptions. Morgan 8 - Great captain's performance, and chipped in with a goal. Konchesky 7 - Solid as per. Marshall 7 - Looked slightly off today, but still a good performance and good corner. Drinkwater 9 - MOTM for me. Definitely bulked up and completely bossed the game for 50 minutes. Given they packed the midfield, makes his performance even more impressive. James 7 - Tenacious, worked hard, especially as NP said if he was ill. Dyer 7 - Frightening pace, just slightly lacking the final ball, especially first half, however the movement was poor from the front two in the first 45. Beckford 7 - Won more headers than i can remember him ever winning and linked up well. Genuinely impressed Vardy 8 - Better all round than i thought he may be. Worked very hard and looked a threat throughout, especially last 30, he linked up play very well. King 7 - Confident performance and what a finish. Hope he's back. Nugent 7 - Good running and we know what he brings. Knockaert 7 - Looked very eager, with numerous fancy touches and a couple of tackles.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Schmeichel: 8 - didn't have to do too much, but was ready and the saves he did make were great. One VERY iffy clearance, but overall great (as usual) De Laet: 8 - very acclompished. No nonsense, great addition to the defense, good positioning, good passing. Morgan: 9 - absolutely fantastic. Made some fantastic tackles, always passed the ball up in the right place, opened the scoring. MOTM well earned. Moore: 9 - I can't believe he is 19. What a guy! On par with Morgan, and will only get better. Some great tackles and clearance from the ground, I have complete confidence in the kid. MOTM material. Konchesky: 8 - as consistent as usual. Always working his hardest, causing problems for Peterborough at every opportunity. Marshall: 6.5 - I love Marshall, but definitely was not his best game. A few mistakes early on, 2nd half performance much improved. Drinkwater: 8.5 - great commanding play. He owns the midfield and gets stuck in as soon as he can. Really looking forward to his development over the season. James: 7.5 - good passing work, although probably one of the players I noticed the least today. No mistakes that I noticed, and fitting in nicely already. Dyer: 8 - what pace, should be advertising stimulant drinks. As usual, his end product is often off-target, but this never causes a problem because he's so far up the pitch and everyone else is behind so no chance of an effective counter attack from the opposition. Vardy: 8.5 - great debut performance. Could not be more devoted, and if today was anything to go by, will be a very valuable asset for us. A brilliantly intelligent setup for King's goal - would have liked to see him scored one for himself but everything else he did was smart and made good quick decisions. Beckford: 6.5 - definitely trying hard, but didn't seem to be in the most fortunate positions and as such had little overall possession. Subs King: 7.5 - nice goal, nice tackling efforts - looking to be getting back to his better form. Knockaert: 8 - darted around the pitch like a flash to retrieve possession, good passing work, smart positioning. Hope he gets a start soon. Nugent: 6 - looked a bit flat from what I saw (which wasn't much), hopefully just a one-off Overall, really impressed. If we can keep performances to this standard throughout the season, a top-six finish should be in the bag.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Ref - 9 Excellent. Haha yeah, agreed with every decision of his today. If only all the officials in this league were as competent.
acooling08 Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Kasper - 7 De Laet - 8 Morgan - 8 Moore - 8 Konch - 7 Marshall - 7 James - 6.5 Drinkwater - 7.5 Dyer - 6 Beckford - 7 Vardy - 7 Subs: King - 7.5 Knockaert - 7.5 Nugent - 6.5
AKCJ Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Kasper- 7- Had **** all to do apart from a smart save in the second half. De Laet- 7- Much better than Peltier, faster, stronger, better on the ball and wants to bomb down the wing. Morgan- 9- Remember Mills' first home game as captain? No comparison. Moore- 8- He'll be a fine player with experience. Was left dozing a couple of times but his pace and strength helped him out. Konch- 7- Classic Konch, 7 out of 10 every week. Our most consistent performer. Marshall- 6- His worst (or one of his worst) displays in a city shirt. He looked far too arrogant and didn't track back. Couple of nice passes though, Drinkwater- 9- MOTM for me, absolutely bossed the game from 1st to last minute. A couple of sloppy passes which will go when match sharpness comes back. James- 8- Seems to compliment Drinks perfectly. Honestly can't see how Danns will get back into the side. Dyer- 6- Fairly shit really. Couple of real good chances that he wasted. Although his pace and willingness to run is always a perk. Vardy- 7- Will get yp to the speed of the championship soon although he will face better defenses that Peterborough's in this league I think he'll do well. He showed all the right signs. Becks- 7- Worked and led the line well IMO. We'll see if Nuge takes his place on Tuesday though. King- 7- Super goal and actually got into the game. Could we see the King we saw in Sousa/Sven's season? Hope so. Nuge- 6- Didn't really see the ball but his run set up King's goal as he took the defenders away. Always an outlet when things got a touch uncomfortable in defense. Knockaert- 7- His stepovers are laughable but his willingness to defend and win the ball back surprised me. Could be a Hero or a Villain for us. I'll bet it'll be the former.
Father Ted Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Schmeichel 6.5 - rarely troubled and when he was dealt with it excellently. De Laet 7.5 - Massive improvement on Peltier (who is now Leeds captain lol ), very good at getting forward and incredibly fast. Oh, and he sprints back when he loses the ball. Morgan 9.5 MOTM - Absolutely dominated the back, kept Moore in check, was calm and composed and got the breakthrough goal. Looks like giving him the captaincy was an inspired decision. Moore 8 - Impressive, read the game well, quick and athletic. Distribution was a bit wobbly at times though. Konchesky 8 - Always bursting forward, even in the 90th minute and wasn't caught out at all. Marshall 7.5 - Was frustrated at times as he attempted to cut in onto his left foot. Maybe should have swapped earlier with Lloyd. Delivery was good. James 6 - Didn't do much really. Drinkwater 8 - An excellent range of passing, short and long with accuracy too. Good pressing too, a right midfield maestro. Lloyd 7.5 - Some good bursting runs and scared the Peterborough defence on occasions. Vardy 7 - Was always closing down and buzzing. Didn't really get a chance though. Beckford 6.5 - Led the line well enough but just lacked a little spark. Decent partnership with Vardy though. Subs: Knockaert 7 - Some good touches and skill and a cracking tackle on that little shite Taylor. King 7 - Did better than James and scored, hopefully can recapture his form of old. Nugent 6 - Not on for too long but chased down long balls and was much more eager than the Sunderland game. Peterborough - I genuinely believe that they have improved as a side and could unstick a couple of decent sides this season so nice to get 3 points under out belt.
Legend_in_blue Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Totally disagree - as soon as he went off we were opened up at the back - great midfield defensive shift, top performance Coincidence. The question has to be asked - do we need a defensive midfielder playing at home in a midfield 4 when we're up against tinpot with 11 and their bus behind the ball? The jury is out on him for me. Of all the new players in the team today, he stood out as being the one for me that made the smallest impact on the team. Our central pairing of him and Drinkwater in the first half was totally ineffective at breaking them down. This might be different once we play a side that come at us more but as I said earlier, the jury's out.
Bettsj2 Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Amazing! He said its the one position that worries him for this season. As he wasn't tracking back and was poor. ?
Thracian Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Kasper: 7.5 (Never busy but called on to make two or three vital saves and demonstrated that his concentration had slipped for a moment). De Laet 7 (Competent and well involved. Added a little more solidity to our defence although he was never sternly tested). Moore 7 (Another clean sheets and that's the best advert for any defender although City need to look at why Posh had three quite reasonable chances from central positions). Morgan 8 (His goal helped and was the reward for the determination he showed in every phase). Konchesky 7 (Reliable as ever but I''d still like to see him offering closer and more consistent support to our attackers). Marshall: 6 (His accurate corner set up Morgan's goal but generally, although busy, he failed to make any great impression. James: 6 (Forgetable performance). Drinkwater 7 (Solid, industrious performance without being notable). Dyer 7 (Forever disturbing Peterborough's defence and trying to make something happen. One cross early int the second half should have been gobbled up but he remained a constant source of danger). Beckford: 6.5 (Linked in well enough with Vardy but never looked lethal). Vardy 8 (Excellent in so many ways. He's got skill, positional sense, good vision, work ethic and is a constant threat. Conjured Kingy's goal from next to nothing and his early pass was vital to the midfielder having any chance of scoring at all. Subs: King 8 (Memorable goal that owed much to his deadly calm in front of goal. Passed the ball accurately and positively. His best performance in a long while). Knockaert: 6.5 (After hearing so much about the lad I was disappointed. Clearly full of trickery he just didn't quite come off). Nugent: 6.5 (Decent contribution in a short time but below his best and sharpest).

Driving home, I heard Warnock talking about their game - said Pelts played CB today. We all knew he could, but I don't think he ever did whilst here ????

Effective players don't have to be stand out players - they just do a job well.

Rusko187 Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Can't decide who deserved MOTM more, I thought both Vardy and Moore should be nominees for it but everyone played well today. Let's just hope it keeps up.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Good team effort, King was a great impact. Thought we looked to defensive with James & Drinkwater in the midfield and needed King's attacking impact 8'S all round but RDL gets MOTM. Knockaert > Dyer, He's really only an impact sub.
Thracian Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Thought he had an effective game restricting Peterborough to sum total of 1 shot on target in 60 minutes. Once he had left the field Peterborough had numerous efforts. I thought one of their best efforts came when he was still on the field and that they had only two other chances of note when he left. But you might be right. As indicated, I couldn't recall much about him individually.
Collymore Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 I was go glad lloyd started instead of Knocky today. He deserves a chance.
MGLCFC Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 No first half shots on target from the "dominant" team. I hope Ferguson reads that! What a joke - if Ferguson's idea of domination is passing the ball along the back line for 45 minutes then boro are in serious danger of relegation. Perhaps he's been reading to much of 50 shades and got his idea of domination mixed up.
Thracian Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Knockaert > Dyer, He's really only an impact sub. What's this "New foreign player" syndrome? . Knockaert might have a terrific season but there was no way he was more dangerous than Dyer today. He was all show and not much substance. Reminded me of Djiziri. Hopefully he'll hone his talent more effectively over time but today his extra touches slowed us down and created little of note. The big plus was that he offered another kind of option, another weapon to call on.
Smiithy Fox Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 Kasper: 6 - Had nothing to do all first half, Second half he had a couple of saves to make and one dodgy kick. De Laet: 7 - Looked composed on the ball, and supported very well. Did look a little in the second half like he wasn't concentrating. Moore: 8 - Very confident performance from Moore. Tackled well and read the play well. He could easily play there as our 3rd CB (Behind Whitbread when fit) Morgan: 8 - Lead the team superbly. Got stuck in and contributed with a very good header, I didn't think it was a foul at all (But that's coming from a fellow CB ) Konchesky: 7 - Got forward well and supported well like De Laet. Very solid performance. Marshall: 6.5 - Did look like Peterborough weren't giving him any space at all. Didn't get much chance to influence the game apart from his crosses. Well they worked, so its a 6.5. James: 7 - Obviously hes came back from a very long term injury (in march), and is only getting back into fitness. Him and Drinkwater look a VERY good partnership in the middle. Both creative Drinkwater: 9 (MOTM) - Last season, he looked lightweight. Today, Wow. He got stuck in and won the ball back many times, and distributed with ease. A few good long balls that got attacks going. I think he will be our key midfielder this year. Wellens Replacement. Dyer: 6 - Really did look a lot better today. Looked as if he has been working on his final ball. A couple of bad shots, but apart from that, he ran his heart out at Peterborough and was effective. Beckford: 7 - Got stuck in to some of the aerial battles and linked the play well. Showed lots of effort and deserved a goal for his team efforts. Vardy: 8 - Similar player to Nuge. Ran for the team and closed everything down, winning the ball in their defense some of the time and causing real problems. Decent cross, although it wasn't meant for King. On today's performance, he will be a good player for us this season. Subs: King: 7 - Again arriving late into the area for his goal and was a beautiful finish. Got stuck in when he came on and won the ball and passed it around nicely. I honestly thought our midfield would suffer when he came on, but proved wrong! Keep it up Kingy. Knockaert: 7 - Came on and always looked to pass before he ran at defenders, which shows hes not all about showing off. Some good skill and made some promising attacks. Very good first touch and worked hard for the ball. He will grow into dyers role eventually. Will be another Key player this season. Nugent: 6 - Played as a kind of target man today. Showed lots of passion and worked for the ball and the team. Linked the play well, and I think he plays much better with vardy than he does with Beckford. Same with Beckford, he plays better with vardy. Rotation will be an asset this season with a bench like we had today. Overall I was impressed with us today, if we keep that up, who knows?! Maybe does.

I noticed on more than one occasion that he seemed a bit one paced. Some nice touches and a few decent balls into the box, will be interesting to see how he develops.
