TrickyTrev Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 2 up front please, go defensively to Blackburn and we will lose This is a rudimentary conceptual confusion. There is nothing inherently attacking about having two players up front or defensive about having five in midfield. You ask players to occupy positions on the field that you think will best allow you to execute your game plan. If you want to dominate the play and be the proactive side having more players starting in the midfield area has its advantages. See Spain in the Euros. If you want to sit back and defend and rely on direct balls for the counter it is important to have a few players further forward as outlets- see England's 442 at the Euros.
MrSpaM Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 Probably just expecting a draw from this, they might have a clown in charge, but Blackburn are still a decent side. I'll be surprised if we come out with a win, going for a 1-1 -Edit- Just had a look on the rovers forum and they seem to think this is going to be a walkover, dont rate our squad at all. After seeing that i'm changing my prediction to 2-1 Leicester, they are underestimating our squad big time. Seem to think they can walk the league with the players they have on paper, maybe one of them should come on here and ask us how that ends up

cc_star Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 Almost a consensus on FoxesTalk? Well I never 4-2-3-1 it is then* *Unless NP chooses something different
stockyfox Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 The last time I went to Ewood Park was September 26th 1964. We lost 3-1 (Davie G) and it was Frank McLintock’s penultimate game in a City shirt. Historically, we have played 44 league games at Blackburn and the omens are not particularly favourable: We have won 7; drawn 13; lost 24; scored 40 and conceded 86 Our best wins in recent times were 89/90 and 96/97 – 4-2 on both occasions. I’m always optimistic till the fat referee blows his final whistle so, based on the figures above, we have a 16% chance of winning and a 45.5% chance of not losing but if we should lose, the score is likely to be 2-1 So what would my XI to start? Kasper De Laet, Morgan, Moore, Konch Marshall, King (because he’s scored 2 crackers), Danns Vardy, Beckford and Knockout (sorry – Knockaert – I’ve got a feeling this young fellow could be one of our most exciting players since wee Davie G.) Subs? Depending how we are doing – Drinkwater, Schlupp and Nuge if we are winning, Nuge, Gally and Dyer if we are losing! How about Schlupp to start in place of Moore? Now there’s a thought!

They all seem to think they can waltz in with their shit attendances, overrated squads and get straight back up. Perhaps they should ask teams like ourselves, Leeds, Ipswich, Derby and Forest if that works.
Happy Fox Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 Colin Kazim Richards is out injured and he has been there best player well the only one that has scored goals for them in the league, I say we have a good chance of beating them
Bluetintedspecs Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 Think people are over complicating this, the second half changes seem to have brought about the better attacking options and results 3-0 from the 2 halves! King I feel will be a shoe in replacing James and Nuge for Beckford. It wouldn't surprise me to see Knocky for Lloyd but not definite so calling 2/3 changes and a 3-1 win
Happy Fox Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 From a Rovers fan http://www.brfcs.co.uk/mb/index.php/topic/27602-game-thread-leicester-city-home-1213/page__st__40 If the Nigel Pearson has anything about him, he'll have seen our tactics against Ipswich and Hull and will see that we are trying to simple grind the opposition down. In fact, we were so unadventrous v Hull that they can really attack us if they want. He'll also target the 2/3 players that will inevitably start out of position (Lowe, Formica, etc.) Big big test of Kean's ability and I'm pretty certain he's gonna come up short

Their fans on the pre-match threads are not confident on the whole and not many are predicting Blackburn wins. They've apparently only got 1 fit striker in Goodwillie and numerous players playing out of position in a 4-5-1. Kazim-Richards is out for 6 weeks apparently
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 Schmeichel De Laet Morgan Moore Konchesky Drinkwater James Marshall King Danns Dyer I think this is the worst idea I've ever seen.
marty78 Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 I think this is the worst idea I've ever seen. It was a joke, albeit a poor one.

They seem to despise Kean, the Venkeys and many of them seem to constantly moan about everything they can.. I'm not surprised at these comments on their part. Blackburn have so far got 4 points from 6. If they beat us it will be 7 from 9 AND THEY WOULD STILL COMPLAIN!

Guest Col city fan Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 They would still have a right to complain, how Kean is still in charge is anyone's guess. To be honest mate, and this is digressing to some extent I guess, I'm never really sure what their issue over Kean is? Yes he took them down, but they were never the same after they lost Chris Samba, following his big money move to Anji. Samba wanted to go apparently and threw his toys out the pram until he did. To be fair, some of his signings over the summer I would have liked City to get. Murphy is still a quality player, Etuhu, Nuno Gomes, Kazim Richards... All good players at this level. He doesn't seem the best manager, but he could take Blackburn back up again. Maybe if the fans backed him and the players a bit more, they may get on better?
Guest Col city fan Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 Not much different to Leicester fans then I think if we win tomorrow and thus have 6 points out of 9, the bulk of us would actually think that's a very good start to the season? I know I would...

To be honest, God only knows what the forum will be like if we do. I think this would mainly be down to the manner of such a loss, rather than the loss itself. If we lose 3-0 after a poor performance, the criticism would be greater than if we go down 2-1 after a good effort. Don't matter though, cos we are gonna win!
C.J Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 I think we should start a 'kean in' chant. But seriously, i've heard the tea is really expensive, but I am looking foward to seeing what the concourse offers considering what the owners business is.
Guest Col city fan Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 Draw What do you think this is? The 'gunfight at the OK Corral'...
foxesfan1989 Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 SSL has just said (among a lot of other things) that he will be back for Burton on Tues! So this is the last game without some defensive cover.

Not too sure either tbh, think he's just done very badly with them and the fans can't see light on the horizon. He doesn't have the fans respect, confidence or faith and it'll only get worse unless they stroll the league. I think it's gone well past the point of backing him for the good of the team, they just want him and the Venky's out.
