Loads of regrets. Difficult to identify the biggest. I just wish I wasn't such a complacent arsehole who never puts any effort in to anything. Most things have been fairly easy for me but I've been so passive and just sort of let my life happen to me rather than taking control and driving myself forward in a direction of my choice. Applies to everything as well - school, uni, women, my 'career'. I'm even lazy about having fun and usually just end up getting ****ed up.

Ah well I'm still only 24 plenty more out there.

The stalking don't help mate..I realised that after 14 years...I just had to accept it and rebuild my life...the prison sentence and the stay in happy acres was a big help..oh and the banning order...Im sure Im getting there..If I can cure the twitch Im home free ..

Many things I might have done slightly differently, but honestly don't have any major regrets. I can't think of anything that's gone really wrong with my life that I would have been able to change.

Yeah that's basically me.

I'm just too intelligent to have ever needed to try.

Doing the bare minimum to get by at School.

Settling for the easy option when the harder option could have been so much better. (sounds like Bluebrett and Finners)

Not going to uni because none of my mates were.

Being shy in my teens.

Not learning a language.

Not learning an instrument.

Probably like most people i regret not having a crack at a sports career being brought up to believe that you are either good at sports or academic.

That's about it.

Well it is certainly not too late for at least 2 of those, I only started learning Spanish when I was 25, and even then it was only for 6 months or so, then I didn't really learn it until I moved to Spain, but even then I didn't have classes was 90% self taught and got myself to a high level. There are plenty of opportunities now to meet people to practise with, looking on facebook, or websites like Meet-up can introduce you to language speaking groups, so you can practise what you learn from books. I'm actually going to meet a Spanish speaking group tomorrow, never met any of them before, just found them on meetup.com and thought why not.

Likewise musical instruments, my Dad learnt the guitar in his fifties, not to any great degree, but enough to play along to songs during school assemblies.

Don't regret it, do something about it.

If you actually go to a foreign country you will be speaking their language basically in about a month. If you don't actually go to somewhere that speaks the language you won't be that good just from reading books imo. Maybe at reading and writing to a degree but not speaking or listening.

I've been looking at the Rosetta Stone DVD's that have video interaction... books and cd's are a nightmare. Problem is they cost a fortune.

Also if you're in your twenties, apart from an athletic sports career theres not alot closed to you.

You saying I can't make it as a pro footballer at the age of 33?

Financial issues still around mate. Plus I'm 32 now, so feel a bit too old.

Ah shame on the financial front, but on the age front you're never too old for uni, my friends dad is starting his second year at uni and he's in his 50's!

Never too old to learn, Uni is full of 25+ year olds.

I think this is the point that me ad Oz were trying to make, if you hadn't let yourself get so hung up over her you probably would have been smashing your way through a string of girls in that time, making her jealous as fvck in the process and wanting you more, whereas if you have been a moping whiny little boy about it, clinging to her and pining after her, she is not going to want anything to do with you romantically.

I am just guessing here, mainly based on me being an absolute pussy for a couple of years over this girl, then I went to Uni and realised there were plenty of hot girls out there to get pathetically obsessed about, and even more to just take home and have a night of fun with.

It helped that when they got together i knew i had lost my chance.

I've been with several women in those 8 years, the thought of what if still plays on my mind though, When my relationships goes tits up thats all,

Not learning an instrument.

I'm in my mid-fifties and I've taught myself to play drums. I'm no Tommy Lee but I can get by. I just do it to amuse myself. Never say never..

It's probably already been said in this thread, but I think most people will regret certain things they did, or not doing things they should have. If you're powerless to change it, then it really is pointless worrying about it. If you can do something about it, then do it!

If you ever catch yourself being annoyed at your former self, you've just got to try and stop thinking about that, and instead think about what you can do now to please your future self. You might hate some decisions you made five years ago, but you can't change that, so make sure you can't be looking back with regret again in five years time.

It's certainly easier said than done, but it definitely makes sense.

“I have learned from my mistakes, and I am sure I can repeat them exactlyâ€

:D

I'm reasonably confident that not only could I repeat all my old mistakes , but that I could have a damn good chance of making a whole lot more even bigger ones .

I regret dressing as Mick Jagger for 4 yeras. (not all the time, obviously. That would be plain stupid)

I often find that there's a difference between wanting something (and I means REALLY wanting it) and liking the idea of having something.

I see it all the time with clients, they all 'like the idea' of getting fit/losing weight etc but a few just don't want to do the work it takes and think that by hiring a PT like me as a kind of gym buddy they will get results.

Its not a personal dig, I think everyibody does this to some degree. If you really, properly want it, you will take the plunge and try it, enjoy it and keep it up until you get there. If you just fancy the idea of it, it will remain a dream.
