It's all to do with her grandmother wanting us to come over afterwards. They're not even a close.family! There aren't trouble makers to be fair the missis' brother understands.

Told ya Stu ...get the meat cleaver out :P

Plucking up the courage to tell her again today. I know she thinks if it doesnt get mentioned I wont be going.

Shes not the most clued up about having a quiet chat, she'll start ranting and raving so her mother hears and then it's 2 v 1

Haven't read all the thread but if you bought a ST with your money, it is her family party or whatever you should man up and say you're going to the football.

It is your choice not hers.

Can we have an inrunning thread of this situation as well of the match as well tomorrow?

Well, I am ill!

Currently feel like doing nothing apart from staying in bed.

It should work in my favour though. They'll realise my commitment when I head off to the Sunday League game carrying bog roll (for my nose) and some Lockets

I tell my Mrs whats what and so should you! Our anniversary happened to fall on Brighton away last season so I took the executive decision to take her on a weekend away to Brighton, I didn't miss the football and she got a weekend away. I've missed plenty of family events because of the football and I've told her plenty of times she can like it or lump it, now her family know and expect me not to be there if it's a match day. However I do make up for it in the summer when there's no games, be a man, tell her grandma and mother in law to fackkk off.

This. From the very start my missus knew about my passion for City. As a result matches were never compromised and it was expected that any family gatherings would be missed or part attended if they clashed with the footy. It's never been a problem as a result. Back down now and it will become expected.

Tell her football is your life. Leicester City, your wife. Should go down well.

Maybe it reflects on how my opinion on Leicester and football generally has changed over the last few years but I just can't get my head around someone obsessing so much over Leicester vs Hull. A miserable **** all week if we win and you miss it? WTF. There's so many more important and enjoyable things in life (including spending time with close family).

Would you prefer he was at the meal, but distracted and in a bad mood, potentially causing tension?

Basically it is choice between one hour of happy stu with the in laws or a whole afternoon of miserable moody stu.

Distracted and in a bad mood?? He's a grown man for f**k sake what's he going to do throw a tantrum and not eat his dinner if he doesn't go.

One game to miss out of 23 home games it's hardly a lot to ask form his missus is it to make an effort for once and go for a family meal.

But I guess watching Leicester must mean more to you than spending time with family.

They weren't my family and yeh I'd do the same for my family. Left hathern at 2, the meal had finished, took the wife and in laws back to Coalville for 215pm. Just.coming up the stairs as the players came out.

Bloody ill, but very glad I went superb performance

Because it is human nature, you can't force yourself to be the life and soul of the party if you are not in the mood no matter how important it is.

Glad it worked out stu,
