Selling Out At Birmingham

No Leeds have quality support away from home, we are not to bad, but We could be better

Pointless comparing us to Leeds, they're a huge club in a bigger City who have a nationwide fanbase and a successful history. They should be consistently finishing in the top 7 of the Premier League. For a club that has done next to nothing in our history and have spent the last 10 years doing worse than ever we've got great support in numbers.

Comparatively we should be as proud as any club of our support. It's not like we've won a load of trophies or had a load of brilliantly entertaining teams. I can't think of any club with a fanbase as good as ours that has achieved so little.

Ive never lived in leicester but 'committededly' support them?!

I'm not saying it can't happen as obviously with you it has. But generally I would imagine that people living outside the city would be less inclined to support the "local" team.

8,000 and 4,000 to Forest, 3,000 to West Ham even though Sven had just been sacked and we'd just lost 3-0 to Millwall at home. 2,000 to Barnsley even though tickets were stupidly expensive, 6,000 to Chelsea and Cov, sold 2,500 at Brighton, and sold our allocation at Norwich, but weren't given the 4,000 tickets we wanted. Not to mention Derby away where we sold around 2,000 even though it was on a Thursday night and on Sky! We were well supported home and away last year! Hopefully we get what we deserve this year, and that is promotion back to where we belong.

The stats just prove them wrong straight away. http://www.football-...4~177950,00.pdf

6th highest average away attendance compared to them in 9th.

And if you look, all the clubs above us aside from Leeds finished in the top 3 (I accept the Sheffield Clubs were in league one but at least they were in the promotion mix). And Birmingham were in the play-offs.

Our support is very good. I'll add 2 reasons to the ones discussed above:

a) We have one of the biggest Rugby clubs in the country.

b) We have a large ethic population in Leicester which on the whole don't attend football matches.

Jesus, can we end the Leeds 'love in'. You are football fans. FANS short for FANATICS you are supposed to be biased about our club ignore the facts just say, as Tina Turner would, we are the best! Better than all the rest! Better than anyone...?

We are the biggest club in the world. If we were top of the Prem we would get 200,000 every week. Our away support would clog up the motorways for hours. On a good day Knocky would out class Messi on an even better day Richie Wellens would get into any team in the Prem

Damn those football-hating do-gooders :P

Firstly, never mention those egg chaser on our site please.

Secondly, is ethic short for ethical because that's a fair point as I've often thought there was ethics involved supporting Leicester City.

Tigers operate in a much smaller sport, both here and in Europe.

Look up the A46 to see how unreliable the number of European Cups is in determining the size of a club.

"They only brought 1200 last season. Even in the prem they would bring a shit following, never seen them bring anything near 2000. But with their great form and the 2 week break I imagined they'd take a shit load down for Saturday, by the sounds of it they'll have sold the full 4200 by then"

Someone has obviously not been doing them away day followings research

To be fair to him it could be a fair comment in regards to last year, if I remember correctly it was a nothingish game, our form was crap, it was an early afternoon Sunday kick off and it was on Sky, so all things considered 1200 aint really that bad.

A win that day would have put us in the top 6, so it was hardly a "nothingish" game. We were also on a 7-match unbeaten run at the time. And the game was on BBC, not Sky.

Not that it matters which channel it was, nothingish game is probably the wrong term but its right compared to this saturday.

Who honestly thought we would get anything out of Birmingham away last season? Sunday when the trains are shite, high pricing, it's already on tele, early kick off is a good enough excuse for me. I remember being there wishing I stayed at home.

Oh dear we've been waiting for that one haven't we. 7 match unbeaten run, fair enough, just inside the top 6 in the middle of October, I maintain not exactly a season breaker is it. BBC instead of Sky, please don't split hairs it's pathetic.

Shame your memorey is a lot better than your sweeping statements of things to come. Have you got a new belt yet?

The fact it was on BBC and not Sky is significant because more people could stay home and watch it.

But he's trying to argue the opposite, I think, or just correct me for the sake of it (likely) either way he's splittng hairs.

Yeh I wasn't arguing with you I was just making the point

Thunk that's rather naive mate. Of say about the 300 blokes/lads I know who go to football from my area, 4 'support' Liverpool, about 30 derby, 2 forest and the rest are regular season ticket holders at city.

I'm only talking about people from around coalville, don't underestimate the amount of us fans out in the sticks around the county

I still find it hard to believe that a person living outside of Leicester is equally likely to be a supporter of Leicester City as someone who lives 10 minutes away from the ground. If you're correct then only about 8,000 people who attended the Bristol City match live in Leicester.

EDIT: Also, its just occurred to me that Leeds must also have a catchment area! Clearly Leicester isn't the only city to have one, so how many does that add on to their population I wonder? Let's go with the same figure you gave for us (500,000) and up their population to 1.3 million. That puts them at a very similar level to us in terms of the proportion of people attending matches.

Wouldn't suprise me if there were more fans from the County than the City at most games. Living in the County and working in Leicester I'd say guess at a 60/40 split in favour of the County.

Be interesting to see some data on it actually.

Yep. That split second cut to our fans just shows pandemonium. It'll be a long time til something like that happens again

Who's to say that wont happen this year?
