Interesting January?

Hold on....

One post you decide 'in the right environment he could develop into a quality player' then you say you'd rather have Junior Lewis?

At least be consistent...

lol

I am being consistent. I am saying that he could develop to be very good player BUT that if you want to play him in a conventional cm role then I would prefer to have pretty much every other cm we have ever had. That's a distinction between future, present and past my friend.

Perhaps the tenses in the English language confuse you slightly but if you're going to try and scrutinise somebody then at least know what you scrutinising them about

Nah... You sound like your kinda hedging your bets a little? At least I've gone out on a limb and stated I'd like Jay at the club... Rightly, or in most people's eyes wrongly.

You SEEM to be saying yes, but no at the same time, maybe to not put yourself out there sorta thing? JET can play CM and has done for other clubs... But you prob know this?

Don't not rely on the courage of your conviction cos you might look daft mate... There's no point in that.

Why do you not rate him? I think he would make good back up for Koncheskey and he is young

Schlupp is good back up for Konchesky. I remember Cunningham when he was here and based on that I wouldn't have him back.

What he's done since he was here isn't a ringing endorsement either.

Also, I can't believe people are still suggesting those Hull geezers. Massively overrated, even their fans have said as much and they think they're the next Barcelona.

But you were pinning your hopes on him being this Big, Bad central midfielder who is going to provide the discipline and physicality that we are lacking sometimes. I am saying that based on the nature of his game and if that was to be his role in OUR team then there is no way I'd want him.

IF you are suggesting him as a long-term invested in the forward areas of the pitch then I would happily see him at the club but I wouldn't want him to be our Number 1 attacking target.

He has indeed played CM, moreso when at Cardiff and that didn't work out to well for him because Arsenal got rid and Cardiff didn't sign him. Instead he ends up at a struggling Championship club and can't even get into the team and definitely not into Central Midfield. People say how bad Wellens is yet he was being chosen over JET in that position.

Also, Waghorn played out on the wing for 2 seasons and was poor, then goes up front and starts playing quality. Just because he played on the Wing does not mean he should be considered in that position again. Even Wes has played up top, but I hope you wouldn't want him to play there! lol

Simply put; JET as a Winger, Striker, Attacking Midfielder = YES

JET as a Central/ Defensive Midfielder = NO

That is true but I don't think it matters if we think they are good or not. I know Pearson rates them and he knows what will make our team better. So obviously they would add something. Even if they are used as a sub.

To be fair that's actually a very well put post and I really can't argue with it.

It's also refreshing to converse with someone who actually knows about the player rather than the usual rubbish. AKA Father Ted.

Oh well, back to the bloody drawing board then for my big, bad holding midfielder....

I don't tend to pipe up unless I know about the player (or at least I think I do! lol )

In fairness, he would have been on my list of players at the start of the season but just don't think he is the right type of player we need at the moment. Definitely worth keeping tabs on though

I'm sorry but isn't that also proof that you didn't know about the player you were talking about and were coming out with the usual rubbish?

So I talk rubbish for criticising you about Jay Emmanuel Thomas? It's even more ludicrous that it's now come to light that you suggested him as a 'big, bad holding midfielder'. The truth is that we don't need one unless we begin to tinker with the idea of 5 across the midfield which we haven't. If we did though, Kemy Agustien from Swansea would be my shout but it's not happening.

No what it shows Mark is that I was talking to someone who also knew about the player and who also feels he's got more to come. Not, presently however, it would appear in a CM role.

What it also shows is that I'm not adverse to backing down if its probable that I'm wrong.

A lesson you yourself could learn as far as I can see.

Need a strong midfielder. For when we need to win a scrappy game. Cant bring on Matty James and expect him to be the strength in midfield. Rodolph Austin kind of player. Can play good football and not afraid to get stuck in. Not saying we'll sign him. But someone along the lines of. Darren Pratley when he was at Swansea, would be ideal. Not so sure now...

Rodolph Austin? Darren Pratley? Who are they when they're at home? It's all about Jay Emmanuel-Thomas!

So what's the point in signing a player who is a striker, and not prolific, to possibly play in a role he doesn't normally play?

Sorry but I honestly can't understand how Father Ted is an idiot and knows nothing about the player because he said that JET isn't a central midfielder, but dmayne7 saying pretty much the exact same thing has won you round. It just seems a little unfair to me. I'm also not really sure why when I questioned whether he could play the role in CM you wanted I was dismissed but when dmayne7 posted it you seemed happy enough to go along with the idea that he can't perform that duty for us pretty quickly. Maybe you just can't admit you're wrong to me? :dunno:

What? An established goal-scoring striker plus a big strong bloke in the centre of the park?

his championship scoring record his far worse than beckfords in the championship. I don't know what you call established colin.

If you read the posts both myself and dmayne know JET has played as a CM. However, not currently. So I did admit I could be wrong at present that he could fill this spot I believe we need in certain games. And I'm sure I said so?

I reiterate... You could learn from such humility.

No. He's a cvnt and we already have one of those in JB who couldn't do the business and he's got more going for him than Chops.

cause he's a cvnt no??? if he can make the team better say no cause he's a cvnt?

he would improve our squad if you ask me we are creating loads of chances and we could do with a poacher kind of strike like chopra

Yes and you said he should be starting that role for us where as dmayne suggested he's never been that great at the role. So while you're criticising Father Ted for not knowing every intricate detail about the player, you probably want to think about whether you came into this argument knowing enough about him. That's all I'm saying, if you think I need to hold my hands up when I'm wrong then maybe it'd be more relevant to bring it up in threads where I've voiced an opinion about a player which you now think has been shown to be incorrect, if you can find any.

One of the reason's we're playing better this season is because there is more harmony in the team and people like Chopra aren't going to help that.

Purely on footballing reasons, I'd also say no. Chopra again, is another player that hasn't been getting in Ipswich's team and has not been very good when he has done even though he scored in the last game i think?. If it was the Chopra who was at Cardiff then I would have to say yes but he isn't the same player at the moment.

January is really about making savvy moves for in form players or youngsters who could do with half a season to develop before kicking on and he fits into neither category.

Mark... It's a debate, a chat... It's not about knowing everything about every player. You seem the need to be 'correct' about everything, which seems like a major chip on your shoulder to me.

I believe JET will become a better player. So does dmayne and presented his argument in an informative way. However, if not as the type of player in the type of role I'm advocating then so be it.... He stated this in a pleasant, non sarcastic way which makes me appreciate his input.

I don't get this from you and never really have.

Anyway, just my opinion so ill say ciao.
