Am going on honeymoon at the start of October but don't know where yet. We don't want anything too energetic - just a nice, relaxing (beach?) holiday somewhere.

Any ideas?

rhodes, greek island. 24 degrees in october soo not to hot and it seems to be quite peaceful!

Just booked Dubai - Decent!

I'm changing flights there in August. I really wished I'd asked for time to leave the airport and look around.

Off to Sorrento in July with the other half. Expecting good things!

Sorrento is on my list of places to visit before I die. Pompeii, Vesuvius, Almalfi Coast,Italian food.

Enjoy and report back !!

Vesuvius is amazing! We snook up there in the early hours and watched the sunrise over the bay of Naples, amazing view. The coast around there is beautiful.

Off to Tignes in a few weeks for some late season snowboarding. Cheap deal for 3 days out there.

Thinking about driving coast to coast East to West in the states in October. Anybody done it before?

Book early or you'll pay a fortune for flights. Or go in Jan when it's half the price and not so full of pissed up ozzies

lol

Was going to leave it late because I don't know much money doing my house up is going to cost.

Can only go between Xmas and New Year do to work aswell.

Not looking like a great choice at the moment lol thanks for the advice though.

I spent 3 days there as a stopover on the way to India. It was more than enough. It's a strange, soulless place. I didn't particularly enjoy it.

Tunisia, anyone been before??

Yes, but about 25 years ago so it's probably very different now.

Young girls are (were?) targeted by street sellers who can be very intimidating by constantly putting cheap jewellery on them etc

I went to Sousse and Port el Kantoui and it's brilliant if you are a going as a young single couple , but very difficult if you have young teenage blonde daughters etc .

As such I have never returned , but we've reconsidered now we'd be less targeted as a pair of rattly old puffins

A trip on the railway from Sousse to El Djem was well worth it . The people are ( were) extremely friendly to a point of embarrassment to our British sense of reserve.

Have a good time anyway

Went Bulgaria last year and will probably go again. Theres just something about 30p a pint and about £5 for a proper slap up meal that draws me back there! Went last year for 2 weeks with the missus, and spent £400 between us in a fortnight.

Off to Gran Canaria in a couple of weeks for a week all inclusive. Can't wait to get away from this drab weather for a while!

Never been there myself, but if your going on a lads holiday you won't go far wrong with Zante, kavos or ayia napa. I'm sure they would all be around the same price aswell.

I'm going with the missus so might not be the best comparison lol

We opted for a cheaper holiday than the last few we had as we're getting a house together. It helps that my girlfriend gets £700 from work to put towards a holiday :D

Gran Canaria/Puerto Rico would suit a lads holiday, plenty of bars, clubs and cheap food outlets. Its hot in the summer, but has a cooling breeze most days. The Canaries are the jewel in the spanish colonial crown and have enjoyed plenty of governemt investment over the years. More to the island than bars and clubs though, depends what you are after, oh and you must like hills..

I want to Fuerteventura 2006 time and was dissapointed.

If you are looking for baron desert and not much else, it is the place for you. I hope it has changed since then.

I tend to go where my mate organises it! I've got a friend who did two ski seasons as a rep and goes at least once a year so I'll ask him where he'd recommend. Off the top of my head you'll pay a lot more for beer etc. in France than, say, Austria. He also did Slovakia last year (sadly I couldn't make it) and while it was colder it was a lot cheaper (plus a more interesting country). No idea how lively it was though.

Thanks mate, appreciated.

Thanks mate, appreciated.

Here are his exact words:

“The key is to make sure you’re in an awesome, lively resort, so that you get to fully embrace the Apresski lifestyle along with the actual skiing. Obviously it depends on budget, but if I were you I’d go for the biggest and best resorts for your first time. I wouldn’t worry too much about the ski area, frankly that will be fairly irrelevant in your first week. The following resorts are recommended… Courchevel 1650/1850 (not the other Courchevels), Meribel, Val Thorens, Val d’isere, Verbier, Zermatt, St Anton. The common link between those is that they’re all on the more expensive end. If you’re looking a little bit more budget, look at Deux Alpes, Alpe d’huez, Les Arcs 1800 (and only 1800, the rest have no nightlife).

There are probably a handful of other big/lively resorts, but these are definitely your best. I’d say if you can get one of these on budget, you’re laughing. My other advice would be that again, for your first time, avoid self cater. You’ll have enough to do with getting up early, learning to ski, free skiing to get better, and eating/drinking/dancing in your evening than wanting to bother cooking too. Next time/in the future, when you already love it, that’s when to save your $$$ and go self catering. Then again, that’s just me.

Whilst it sounds a bit rubbish, in your research, check out “Club Med†– they include lessons and ski hire in your package, as well as a free bar for a most of the day/night (sounds too good to be true, but I’m not lying). The downside is that they’re often big hotels rather than a smaller chalet with just you guys or you and a few others, but for what you want in a good resort, they could be good value.â€

Had the blues since getting back from New Zealand.

Got a week in Banus next month but going to book a week out in California I think for the summer this week.

Italy has to be my favourite place in the world! Stayed in sorrento for almost a week. Make sure you go Pompeii, its literally a train journey away and the train station is opposite the entrance to the ruins. If you can, hire a car and drive along the amalfi coast. Some seriously stunning scenery and the town of amalfi itself is a nice little cliffside harbour town. A trip to vesuvius is also worth it as it offers stunning views over the bay of naples!

On a less cultured note, I'm going Kavos this year. Anyone been? I'm assuming they're all pretty similar.
