Holidays 2013

First lads holiday going to either Magaluf, Zante or Malia. I've looked at the prices and Magaluf is so much cheaper, but the others are said to be better. Anyone recommend any of the 3 against the others listed?

Take a look at Sunny Beach in Bulgaria mate. It's mental!

Average beer price is about 30p and shorts about £1

The weather is fantastic and the nightlife is amazing

Went there last June and want to go again this year

Anyone got any recommendations for a a weekend away. Not to far. Done the usual trips to the races and theater breaks over here. Fancy doing paris or brussels etc that sort of thing leaving friday and coming back sunday.

Porto, particularly if you like port, is a great place to spend a weekend. I'd also highly recommend Berlin, even more so if you like a good, hard, German techno night. Otherwise Barcelona is one of the truly great all round European cities, Krakow is excellent if you like concentration camps and cheap beer and finally Istanbul is one of my all time favourite city breaks (although might need a bit more than just a weekend).

Really? When did u go?

We loved it! Then again there were more of us that went sunny beach than ibiza.

I just thought Ibiza was far too overpriced for what it was

I went 2 years ago now, not many Brits out there compared to your Magas, Ibizas and Greek islands.

For a first lads holiday I would go Zante or Kavos!

Flying to Toronto on June 13th for 4 days and then flying to Boston and flying back from New York 10 days later. So we'll have 10 days to do what we want between Boston and New York so if anyone has any ideas we'd be grateful.

Sounds like Zante is the best then, cheers. I don't mind paying more if it's better. Found some cracking deals for Magaluf though.

Not usually my sort of place but I did Magaluf for a stag do last summer and loved it, cheap as fcuk and everyone up for a laugh.

So close to booking a few days in Turkey by myself but I keep telling myself it's a bit weird and I'll probably hate being by myself after a day.

The Turks are a friendly and hospitable people, particularly in the smaller resorts. Go for it , enjoy the peace and being able to do what you want when you want. Visit some of the fantastic ancient sites in a wonderful country.

Here's a good tip for you.

Instead of going to a resort consider flying to Istanbul and tour the towns on The Bosphorus and slip in a couple of days in Istanbul.

Stunning scenery and cheap as chips.

I travelled from Istanbul to Kilyos, takes about an hour but I hopped on and off at all the towns on the way. Istinye, Sariyer, Yenikoy and Tarabya being the highlights. You could easily spend a few days checking them all out and the Istanbul nightlife moves to this area in summer so no shortage of pubs and clubs.

Be sure to go when the Istanbul weather is at it's best as it can get chilly in early and late summer.

Yeah, there is so much more to Turkey than the resorts. I went at the end if last year for a couple of weeks and the only bit I didn't like was when we accidentally ended up in Oludeniz which was just full of English people and Sky Sports. It's a beautiful country.

Yeh cheers looking to spend our first night in a hotel overlooking the falls before heading back to Toronto for the weekend. Maybe we should do it the other way around and spend our last night there!

Good idea. Istanbul is a good place for the solo traveller. Lots of good street food, so much to see and do, and plenty of opportunities to meet like-minded travellers.
