Soar Fox Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Hart Walker- Cahill- Jagielka- Cole Parker- Gerrard A.Johnson- Rooney- Walcott Defoe
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Is someone like Danny Graham worth a call-up?
MikeyT Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 I am just genuinely pleased no one has picked Stuart Downing.
Jimothy Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 I am just genuinely pleased no one has picked Stuart Downing. I'd pick him over David Beckham.
Ashley Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Hart. Walker, Richards, Terry, Cahill, Smalling, Baines, Cole Walcott, Ox, Wilshere, Parker, Lampard, Gerrard, Milner, Young, Rooney, Bent, Welbeck, Carroll, Crouch(simply because his England scoring record is stupidly good).
AyewJoking Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Why the hate for Beckham. Do you think he would contribute less over 90 minutes than say Walcott, Lennon, Chamberlain?
StanSP Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Why the hate for Beckham. Do you think he would contribute less over 90 minutes than say Walcott, Lennon, Chamberlain? It's not 'hate' for Beckham. It's just blatantly clear and obvious that he's not England standard any more. So yes, he would contribute less than the 3 you mention. That's a no-brainer.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Time for Gary Hooper to get a crack?
StanSP Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Time for Gary Hooper to get a crack? I think he's definitely more deserving of a place than Crouch, Carroll, Welbeck.
theboxman1986 Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 If I was England manager for friendlies / unimportant qualifiers I'd bring the youngsters in, put 2-4 older heads in to help them. Let them get full international experience. That way the more established get a rest as well as competition.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 I'd certainly have Rooney. And building an international side around Young (to any extent) would be resigning to a group stage exit. For what it's worth, I'd like to see us have a prolonged go with something like this in the run up to 2014: Hart Walker Cahill Smalling Cole/Baines Wilshere Parker Gerrard Oxlade-Chamberlain Rooney Walcott For what it's worth I think Welbeck and Sturridge are decent young players, but they're nowhere near Rooney's levels, not even when he's in an England shirt. Just look at our performances last summer with and withput Rooney. I wouldn't take ome of the 11 spaces for him on the proviso he may do something special.

I just think that over 90 minutes, Beckham would have just as much, if not more influence than Walcott etc.
AdamN Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Perhaps you should concentrate on who you'd put in the poll to replace you?

I thought he looked off the pace in the MLS last year aand the standard of that is very poor.
Dan Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Anything other than Milner & Cleverley out wide :frusty: :frusty: :frusty:
Ross-Kemp Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Hart Walker / Richards Cahill jagielka baines Parker Wilshere Lennon Walcott Defoe Crouch
Messi Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Hart Walker Cahill Caulker Baines Wilshere Parker Walcott Gerrard Ox Rooney
bmt Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Hart Walker Cahill Lescott Baines Barry Gerrard© Walcott Rooney Ox Defoe Barry's been decent of late and can break up the oppositions play, important to have a holding player like him with such an attacking midfield and full-backs. Parker would usually be this role but hasn't played much of late. Full Squad: Hart, Butland, Forster Walker, Johnson, Cahill, Lescott, Jagielka, Baines, Cole Gerrard, Lampard, Barry, Parker, Milner, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, A Johnson, Lennon Rooney, Defoe, Welbeck, Carroll
Father Ted Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Squad of: Hart, Forster (The standard of keepers after Hart really is poor, some cracking keepers in the Prem too, shame none are English) Naughton, Walker, Cahill, Jagielka, Lescott, Dawson, Baines, Cole. Lennon, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Milner, Parker, Nolan, Barry, Gerrard, Wilshere, Carrick Defoe, Rooney, Welbeck....... Team of: Hart Naughton - Cahill - Jagielka - Baines Barry - Wilshere Ox - Rooney - Lennon Defoe Standard is so poor...
Father Ted Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Also, to the people laughing Wes Morgan off... Genuinely, I think only Lescott, Cahill, Dawson, Jagielka and Shawcross are clearly above him. Would you say mid table centre backs like Tomkins, Bramble, Turner, Taylor, (Clint Hill is playing in the Premiership!) are really better than him??? And if Zaha and Bothroyd have played in the last few years, why can't Wes? He could comfortably play for a top 6 Prem side. You can laugh but it's so true it's unreal.

Terry, Ferdinand, Jones, Smalling, Huth? I rate big Wes highly but all those listed are definitely better.
Father Ted Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Terry, Ferdinand, Jones, Smalling, Huth? I rate big Wes highly but all those listed are definitely better. Terry retired from international. Huth is German. Jones/Smalling are liabilities at centre back and are more openly used at right back and centre mid (Jones). Rio is on his way, he hasn't got much left in the tank imo. Seriously, there are only 5 better English centre backs than Wes.

I'd still have Jones and Smalling ahead of him, they aren't the finished article and yes both versatile but still ahead of Wes at cb for me. And no Wes isn't far off but 6 or 7 better is a long way in terms of getting into the team!
