Alexikokopops Posted 16 January 2013 Posted 16 January 2013 Two dead, nine injured, one critically ill. Guardian live coverage BBC live coverage The crane that the helicopter hit, now obviously ****ed (from here) And the street (from here)
Bellend Sebastian Posted 16 January 2013 Posted 16 January 2013 They're saying one dead in the helicopter, one on the ground. How unlucky is that? You take your chances in a flying machine, but you don't expect one to fall on you when you're out walking/driving/riding or whatever. Nasty
indierich06 Posted 16 January 2013 Posted 16 January 2013 Only about two miles away from my office, terrible thing to happen.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 16 January 2013 Posted 16 January 2013 I hope they find the helicopter driver responsible and lock him up for a very long time
darko2k7 Posted 16 January 2013 Posted 16 January 2013 I hope they find the helicopter driver responsible and lock him up for a very long time He's dead ! Unless you were joking in which case shame on you .
whitlock Posted 16 January 2013 Posted 16 January 2013 I hope they find the helicopter driver responsible and lock him up for a very long time I guess he didnt fly into a crane on purpose.
Ric Flair Posted 16 January 2013 Posted 16 January 2013 This is where I used to work, the building next to it. I was getting the overground in to Waterloo at about 8.15am and saw all the flames and smoke as we stopped at Vauxhall, it looked horrific. Bad doo. RIP
Daggers Posted 16 January 2013 Posted 16 January 2013 Only 62 miles away from where I work, it feels like I knew them personally. Tragic.
StanSP Posted 16 January 2013 Posted 16 January 2013 Tragic stuff. I feel very sorry for the pilot - caught in a striking irony of trying to divert a plane for safety's sake as not being able to land in original destination of Elstree. But I feel a bit more sorry for the other unfortunate victim who died probably thinking it'd just be a normal day at work and definitely not thinking they'll get caught up in some debris from a helicopter flying in to a crane... Before seeing the pictures I caught up on what happened. I was devastated for anyone who had to see it or was involved in it. Then I saw the pictures and felt much worse for them !
SystonFox Posted 16 January 2013 Posted 16 January 2013 my brother in law flies the leicestershire police helicopter as his job. as sad as it is THIS IS THEIR JOB and they know the risks and are duly paid well for it. if they crash and die then its bad news but everyone knows the risks. RIP all the same
BoneDog Posted 16 January 2013 Posted 16 January 2013 My sister-in-law sort of knew the pilot as she works for East Midlands Air Ambulance and he piloted for them. Looks bad. Could have been a fair few more casualties looking at it. When she told me about it I thought that the crash was in a field or something, and not in a busy place.
Fox92 Posted 17 January 2013 Posted 17 January 2013 Horrible news. Would have thought more people would have been injured, but thankfully not too many. Not related to terrorist's it was announced.
anotherharboroughfox Posted 17 January 2013 Posted 17 January 2013 The fact only two were killed is somewhat miraculous, the debris could have landed on one of the buildings around the area which I'm sure would've been much worse. But still very tragic.
Daggers Posted 17 January 2013 Posted 17 January 2013 The fact only two were killed is somewhat miraculous Truly, the Lord's love knoweth no bounds.
Parafox Posted 18 January 2013 Posted 18 January 2013 I have met the pilot, Pete Barnes, RIP. He worked a shift for the Leics air ambulance the day before this crash.
