leicsmac Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 Or maybe he won't given that, y'know, which sports you like are a matter of personal preference rather than maturity. It's about the way you say it, not what is said. If he'd just said it was crap no one would have had a problem with that....it was the other stuff that was a bit daft.

kingfox Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 I will be supporting the mighty Tigers...from my living room. Massive game though, Toulouse have so many quality players, and they can bring on the likes of Jauzion and Medard from the bench, two players who have about 100 French caps between them. The lads will need to play the game of there lives tomorrow afternoon.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 Maybe because tigers fans cheer when they read out city are losing. Hope they bust tbh. Hate them with a passion.
stix Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 Don't really feel like moving there thanks. If I choose not to like the tigers then that's my choice! Still makes you abit of a nob though
Hugo Sanchez Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 Why does it make him look a nob ? Just because he hates tigers. I bet you drive a land rover, fat, beard and drink real ale. Football and rugby fans are nowhere near the same. Football fans are loyal. Tigers can't even sell out. Man Utd of the rugby world haha

It is in fact possible to like more than one sport, for goodness sake.

kingfox Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 There's some respect I can give you at last You should always give me respect, king by name, king by nature.

Tom17LCFC Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 There's a few knobs who look down at us but the majority are fairly decent people. I'm heading down tomorrow if only for a day session, that's the one positive of the rugby, having a skinful inside afterwards.
Vacamion Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 Having dropped out of a vagina in Leicester and been schooled there, I would support ANY Leicester team - Tigers, Leicestershire CCC, Riders, the tiddly wink team, basically anyone from Leicester against teams from anywhere else in the country. In just the same way that I have soft spots for Kasabian, Showaddywaddy and god help me, Mark Morrison. (Enge is a cvnt, though.... ) And I haven't lived in Leicestershire since the early 90s. If you are indifferent to rugby or cricket or whatever, fine, but to actively DISLIKE your home town's team when they are pitted against someone else? I don't get it.

Basketball must the most tedious sport ever invented but I was still proud that the Riders won the cup last week.
stix Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 Oh no No need to cry about it. I imagine you're pretty used to it now.
Guest Bilo Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 I'm with you. Basketball must the most tedious sport ever invented but I was still proud that the Riders won the cup last week. Why are American sports so unwatchable? Seriously; baseball, American football and basketball are all dull as ditchwater. Give me footie, rugby and cricket any day of the week.
stix Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 Basketball is exciting imo. End to end all the time. I hear you with the baseball & american football shout though.
Rincewind Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 Not a rugby fan mainly because I don't really understand the rules. i have no problem with the fans. The ones I've met follow football and rugby. From what I hear there is a good atmosphere and banter amongst fans. Not the singing and making fun of the opposition fans so much but cheering and applauding the team. The supporters of both sides get together after the game and are friendly together. Pub landlords welcome them as they look to spend money and not a fight as a minority in football do. The police like them because they have their own rugby teams and enjoy an off duty pint with them and can see the game instead of doing overtime at the football. Like I said I am not a big lover of rugby but I can see why some sports fans prefer the ruby whilst still being a fan of the City. I have generalised a little I know but some of the attitudes may stem back a few years when there was a lot more trouble at football matches and people switched for a quieter life. It also did not help when City slid down the leagues and Tigers were winning everything.

Not sure cricket is more exciting though....although I am a cricket fan, I'm sure if you grew up in the US you wouldn't find them dull.

It does take a real cricket fan to sit through Division Two County matches I'll admit, especially when your team is as weak as Leicestershire have been over the past few seasons, but Ashes Tests and the IPL, indeed most T20 matches, can be absolute thrillers. The 2005 Ashes series and the 2011 T20 Championship which Leicestershire won will live long in my memory.
kingfox Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 Sit down and watch the 10 best plays in the NBA, on the internet or on Sky. Just watch and I guarantee your jaw will drop at some of the plays. Basketball is quality, people don't like the time outs, I find them annoying as well, but in terms of excitement it's a great Sport to watch.

It's the squeaking of trainers on the wooden floor I can't stand in basketball!

Not the time outs that's the issue for me, it's the lack of build up and suspense to any scoring manoeuvre. I like plenty of American sports but the pace of the game doesn't appeal to me for that reason. The only real tension is in the last moments if it's a close game.

If you miss a basket don't worry there'll be another one 3 seconds later.
