Sunday 19th 2026 could go down in history as the greatest sporting day ever.

Tommy Fleetwood walks up the 18th at Birkdale to a homecoming hero's ovation as he wins the Open.

Then England beat France in the WC final to bring it home.

Just imagine.....

That is my dream seeing as i'm there in person.

Slightly concerned by kick-off time and end of play though

I think they’ll fiddle around with the tee times on Sunday to ensure it’s all done and dusted by 7:00 (especially if England get there)

6 would be better, got to get to Liverpool.

Was hoping they would put it on a screen on the course somewhere.

problem is that if it goes to ET and pens then it’s not finishing till 11:00

will there be many trains on Sunday evening at that time ??

local residents may not want thousands of folk hanging around late on Sunday either

I love that Rory is such a golf history nerd and sicko like the rest of us. Not many tour players could do this.

This Open is going to be epic. Got a feeling we're in for a classic for the ages.

For fun, he should have said he can't recall who won in 2013 :D

R and A probably pleased attention will be on them now.

Will a Spaniard win?

Presumably not any Argentine playing..

Can't remember the last time I saw crowds this big at The Open. It's absolutely heaving at Birkdale.

Scheffler 4 under through 6. Guess we shouldn’t be surprised by this his type of scoring from him.

Only missed one fairway

will be out in the afternoon breeze tomorrow though.

rory’s putter might be going across his knee soon !

Herbert currently -8 after 12 holes and has a 3 shot lead :o

SEVEN 3s and two 2s so far and went out in 28. Ridiculous. Sub 60 round very possible.

Only ever been to Europe once in his life....this week

Never mind played Links golf

Sounds like the plot of Happy Gilmore. Is he also a washed out hockey player?

Some of these scores are wild this morning. And right on cue, Herbert puts one into the gallery...

This would be far more interesting if the wind would blow & they had some severe rough. Also if everytime they hit a bad shot it didn't hit the gallery.

The commentators are trying to convince everyone how tough Birkdale is (which it is), but truth is for players of this standard it's playing easy

Nice to see him bogey the last for a 62.

No one wants to see an Aussie hold the lowest ever major round, never mind a LIV Aussie.

They couldn’t have planned for such a dry period burning out the rough

the wind is blowing this afternoon and could become quite stiff in a couple of hours
