The thing I don't get with the LIV format is that if they insist on shotgun starts, doesn't that limit the field to just 54 golfers (72 at best with 4 per group and that would be messy)?

Indeed (assuming they stick to the format). Apparently that's one of the attractions - smaller field, no cut, done in 3 days.

I guess there's still scope to attract more big names though. You could probably say LIV have now got 5 'big' names (Phil, DJ, Bryson, Brooks, Reed) along with 10 'bigish' names (Garcia, Poults, Kaymer, Westy etc.)

I suppose there's still room for up to another 30+ big PGA defectors (LIV will soon bin off the no marks)

Morikawa’s ruled himself out while preparing his cereal.

Fair play to him but I seem to recall all the others ruling themselves out at some stage (Bryson very recently, only to then change his tune)

And as Max Homa just stated, it's almost impossible to trust a man who pours the milk first and cereal second :D

Time will tell I guess...

Some of the lesser names are eventually going to have to go cap in hand back to the PGA and DP World Tours. I suppose they'll think it was worth it for the few big paydays they got.

And I'll be first in line pissing myself laughing when they do!

Unfortunately Bryson’s been named captain of the Crushers.

Crushers GC vs Smash GC about to become the greatest rivalry in Golf ;)

Wow, the excitement is at fever pitch levels now

I heard that they'll eventually bin off these stupid team names and end up having sponsored teams e.g. Team Calloway, Team Titleist etc.

P.S. Funny how the PGA Tour have just found another $160m to fund these 8 new events from next year copying the same LIV format

Your excitement levels will reach fever pitch once Phachara Khongwatmai claims victory for Crushers GC next week.

But I won’t be watching as I’ve found out they’ve ditched Kevin Yuan 😢

An unsurprising reactionary move from the PGA, shame it took a breakaway tour to pull their finger out and make them, as long as the three new international events don’t include teams with names like Niblicks GC, then we should be alright.

Just watching Rory quadruple bogey the 12th at the Travelers makes me feel so much better about my game.

What a bonkers round that was.

7 birdies

1 bogey

1 double bogey

1 quad bogey

8 pars

= level par :o

Played a links in Dunbar this morning.

Winterfield Golf Club.

Words can't describe how stunning it was.

It's probably ruined golf for me though.

Why would I ever want to play another course?!

Who do we fancy for the biggie then?

Perhaps a little bit of a wildcard at 50/1 but I think Bryson at that price isn’t a bad outside bet, with the course as open as it is.

Yep I've had a few e/w flutters on Skybet (14 places!) and Bryson is one of them. Should be able to just pound it. Though the rough is pretty deep so if he gets into that too often he'll lose plenty of shots.

Other picks are - Zalatoris, Fleetwood, Garcia and Poulter.

No particular reasons just because!

Don’t think the course will suit Bryson’s game but hell at 50/1 he’s worth a shot for sure 🤷‍♂️

Think my bets will be:

Main: Cantlay

Hopeful: Fleetwood

Outsiders for E/W: Molinari and Ancer.

Who’s getting up at 6am tomorrow then? :D

Really feeling a European winner this year, McIlroy, Lowry or Fitzpatrick being the main trio.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Tommy Fleetwood contends, Seamus Power is my outsider.
