Balotelli Baby

If there's one thing that pisses me off, it's white people being offended on behalf of black people who, by and large, couldn't care less.

I'm talking about this picture on Twitter.

Search "Balotelli Baby" on Twitter and you'll see what I mean. Does this kid look like a "terrified tot"? Are his parents "Sick" or "Racist"? Or are pathetic white apologists falling over themselves to show how not racist they are?

Jeez.

I don't see whats right about this?

Not because of racism. The kid looks scared to death. I'd question anybody who painted their kids face with chocolate spread just to post it on facebook.

Clearly that must have been an attempt at sarcasm.

Ha ha nearly fell for that then!

Exactly this!

Not a question of racism

I'd say the facial expression is one of mild bemusement often worn by babies.

Having had a few babies myself, trust me, putting choc spread or pudding on their faces is not going to affect them in the long term!!

Says a lot about the parents though.

Not saying I won't have fun when I have kids (this isn't fun though), but last time I checked, chocolate was for eating. It wasn't used to cake baby's faces with it.

Mmm I would just try and have a kid before telling us what you will or won't do with him or her!

So cos I don't have a kid, I can't have an opinion on what I may or may not do with them?

I just know for sure I won't cover their faces in chocolate cos it appears I have more common sense than you. Tell me, what would the point be in covering it in chocolate? Do you think it's 'cool'?

A guy in work puts Nutella on his face, dons a white suit, goes to his local and pretends to be Cuban.

On ipad so don't know if this'll post right. But that kid with a dodgy sponge Mohican and a piss poor example of camo face (parents should have used marmite/bovril.... Much better consistency.) reminded me of this.

On a serious note, I do find it mildly amusing, but, I don't know what went through the dads mind when he did this.... Lets be honest, it wasn't his mum was it.

I do think we really should have reached the point by now where a white guy can dress up as black guy without being called racist. The black and white minstrel show was different and of a different time and should not be compared to this.

To be honest I think that prohibiting the use of face paint or in this case chocolate as a means of fancy dress is just going to do more harm than good when it comes to race relations. Take the kid who dressed up like el haj Diouf, it was clearly meant as a tribute.

Putting on face paint is not racist, hating people because of the colour of their skin is.

Racism or no racism. What sane parent would ridicule their child like that! I'm a bit lost for words.

It's hard to assess the intent without knowing the parents. However, if it's perceived to be racist by the person the gesture is aimed at then you have to say probably is.

Would Balotelli see it as racist? In my opinion he probably would.

I don't see what's so strange about this? Parents dress their babies up all the time. They don't give a shit, they won't even remember it. I mean it's chocolate, hello, babies are always getting chocolate all over their face. Big deal.

The guy who did it just seems to have a sense of humour, and was trying to make watching the baby more interesting. I think it's quite funny. Nothing wrong with it at all.

Yes, dress them up in funny outfits and fancy clothes. They don't essentially 'black them up'.

Babies are getting chocolate all over the face because they have absolutely zero knowledge of what they are doing to themselves. They don't have the self-awareness that they are getting their faces dirty and that they are meant to eat chocolate and not smother themselves in it.

The parents, however, know exactly what they are doing and have 100% knowledge that it will cause some controversy, even more so when it is mimicking a very controversial character (Balotelli).

I'm still not sure what is so bad about chocolate being on a baby's face. It's not toxic. They'll wash it off and the baby will be fine. The baby will not remember it and even if they did I'm sure they would not spend the rest of their lives following their parents' example (or whoever it was that did it). It's a joke, I'm sure they'll learn what to do with chocolate when they can comprehend what it is.

As for racial controversy, I've never heard anything so ridiculous. Balotelli is black, that is a fact. Black people's skin is a different colour to white people's skin. They're trying to make the baby look like Balotelli. Chocolate is a similar colour to that of Balotelli's skin.

If people find those facts controversial there's something wrong with them.

I said controversy. I never said 'racial' controversy. The implication you make is correct, though :P. Your missing the point when you mention about the baby remembering it though. That's trivial. They've done this 'stunt' to seek attention. It's nothing about being toxic, either. Again, missing the point. What I'm saying is that the parents know what they're doing. To cause controversy and gain attention.

TBH I think it's just an attempt to be funny, I don't think they're trying to be controversial and piss black people off. Sure they want some attention, that's why anyone posts anything on the internet. No one posts something if they want it to be ignored. But I should think they just did it for a few laughs, not controversial comments.
