Pearson In/Out

Spot on. This season Pearson had a summer to rebuild a squad in disarray. We were a mess. If anyone cannot see the foundations he's laid and the difference in terms of attitude, desire and quality then they're blind or just in denial.

I feel that our inconsistency on the field cannot be helped by our inconsistency off it. We have a manager who has us pointing in the right direction now which is no mean feat given the situation we were in. In fact I think he did it too well that people haven't noticed nor credited him with how well he's recovered us from Svens car crash.

I mean for crying out loud at least wait and see if he gets us promoted before criticising him for not doing it yet. We're still in with a chance and in the best position in recent years because of Pearson. There is so much more to come from this team and we know that because Pearson has done it and shown it over the last 5 months. You can't judge the achievements of this season until it's actually finished. Until then we as supporters have a duty to support the team and when things aren't going well then that's when they need us most.

Btw are these wage figures being quoted not for the 11-12 season of Svens spending spree? Surely we can't blame Pearson?

Attitude, desire and quality??

Yes it was there, sadly gone...

The Derby match was one of the most dreadful games of football I've seen City play in many a year. The standard was shocking.

Attitude, desire and quality... Pah

You guys are perhaps right...but I know if I had a bust up with my gaffer I wouldn't come out to the press/public about it.

So if Pearson or Wood wouldn't come out and talk to the press or public about it, how the **** would anyone ever know? Just more proof that these rumours are bollocks. People say there's no smoke without fire. Well, I could post on twitter every day that Billy Davies likes to strum himself senseless while watching the boys in the showers after a Forest match. If I post it enough, and other people pick up on it and post it too, does that make it true?

He's committed footballing suicide since he won manager of the month and we were sat second, that seems a lifetime ago now. I don't like to constantly rip everything up and start again, but we are seemingly getting worse and it cannot continue. I think he needs a huge turn around and a great end to the season to save his job... but if that doesn't happen soon he could well end up not even seeing the season out, the owners will do what they need to do to try and stay in the play offs.

Ive been thinking about this and Pearson is living off two good runs against the same teams.

Our run in October consisted of beating Burnley, Hull, Boro, Huddersfield, Bristol City and the run in January started with a draw at Hull before we went on to beat Burnley, Huddersfield, Bristol City, Boro and Wolves.

This means that we've picked up 31 of our points against 6 teams and only 28 against 17 teams, all be it we haven't played everyone twice.

Its probably better to look at the fact we've got 31 of our points in 11 games and only 28 points in 27 games which is relegation form at best.

'Can we play you every week' springs to mind

We've accrued a wage bill of nearly £30m pounds per season (Hulls is £18m, http://www.thisishul...l#axzz2Nq38frdY).

That is not this season though we won't know those figures for a while, I'm fairly sure ours will have dropped a bit and theirs will have gone up a bit as Bruce has been given money to spend on players and presumably wages as I can't remember them getting rid of a load of players.

It's besides the point anyway as you are right, we should be doing better.

I'd imagine he's living off us being 2nd 9 games ago. Doesn't matter who you win against as long as you get more points than the rest and we were at that point.

By jove you have got rather an imaginative mind. Couldn't you have started a rumour with a tad less homosexual content, or was that a freudian slip ?

It's not a rumour, it's actually true. I posted it on the internet, so it definitely happened.

Sorry about the content, are you a homophobe or did it get you a bit excited? Apologies either way.

Sounds like you might be changing your mind about Pearson now, about the tactics or lack of, poor man management skills etc etc .... come around to the sensible side so to speak

It's too late in the season to change manager. Call me a Pearson cheerleader but we've got 8 games left to qualify for the play-offs, so we'll do what we always do and get behind the team. If at the end of the season, we don't make it, then we can think about a change, but not now, it's too late.

Chopping and changing the manager hasn't worked in our favour for years, if not decades. Why would it work now? And why do you want Pearson to fail - isn't that a heinous thought? Especially given the fact that he's been at this club before?

I also believe Cardiff's owners have pumped in their fair share of (legitimate or illegitimate) money into the club and opened the cheque book more than just a few insignificant times.

Failing to reach the playoffs this season is not such a complete failure in my eyes. If this scenario should come true, I'd be merely disappointed given the fact that we once were second and let it slide so carelessly or foolishly. That's a more bitter pill to swallow, knowing that we've got this potential or once had it, but weren't able to profit from it or call it up for the duration of an entire season. The foundations under Pearson are there, however. And with a few precise and fitting player additions, we could walk this league anytime. I mean "walk" in a Championship kind of way. lol

Btw, the Scottish link was a reference to Sir Alex Ferguson's achievements in his early managing career.

Face it on recent results pearson is not the man for the job in the long term and would struggle in the top league too ...

Nothing to do with changing my mind. We were second 9 games ago, why would I be critical of his management then?

So would you keep Pearson as manager until the end of the season or would you prefer a new manager someone like Adkins on board? Or would you like Pearson in charge until the never never? I'm curious

I would give him until the end of the season and see where we are then in terms of results and performances. It's not my money though and I don't think the Thai's will be quite so patient if this run continues. You have a couple of decent managers out of work who have done what we want to do, so the temptation will be there to do it for them.

I think if anything is going to make someone not want to 'come over to the clever side' it's arrogant guff like this.

lol

The season ain't over quite yet mate..

As your aware sometimes when a new manager comes in players want to impress and there can be improved results as a result. The Thais might believe that this is a risk worth taking in order to stay in and win the play offs, If i had to bet one way or another i would bet that he will be sacked sometime in the next fortnight.

Like most posters, I've spent the weekend wondering what the best course of action is, (not that any of our thoughts make any difference at all). I've previously stated that NP needs a full season almost regardless. But, if I'm honest, I think the situation right now makes me think differently. Getting rid is a huge gamble. But so is keeping him. With a two-week break, today is the day to do this if we are going to try and stack the odds in our favour by maximising the new person's time with team to influence things. The break is a golden opportunity to do that. However, if I'm equally honest, my thinking is driven by the fact that Adkins is available. I honestly believe, even over 2 months, he could get us into and then through the PO's. I just think his brand of football will win games and that is what is now required. I just cannot see NP doing that this season with the performances we're serving up. But if the Thais cannot land Adkins, well ..... then it all goes a bit squirmy for me. Not sure who else would want to come that offered a short and medium term potential return.

I cannt speak for others but I really don't see the point of even considering a change before the end of the year. We have all seen what the presant set up is capable of, and there are few that are not concerned or dissapointed at our recent preformances. We have some very inexperienced key players who may or may not be suffering from knocks, it may be that some just cannt cope with the demands being made of them.

At presant we don't have the depth of squad to rotate players and it has been a comman theme this season that we need more better or experienced players to maintain a challenge. We can only guess at the limitations the Club is facing or players we have tried to bring in.

I for one don't feel that Pearsons position should be in doubt at presant and do feel that a lot of the speculation is what we should by now expect from the media. I do however feel that if we don't make the the playoffs he will be gone which would only leave the job half done.
