Just a general comment: Why is our season being viewed as a kind of semi-disaster? We are 6th you know?

Disappointing as it has been recently it's not as if we've totally collapsed and we retain a good chance of finishing in the POs. Until we fall out of the top six I'd appreciate it if people didn't keep suggesting we've somehow failed this season. We have not.

I wonder if anyone will harp on when we are 7th?

Are you saying that once we reach a position in the league we must maintain it or we have failed? That's the message I'm getting.

In any case, is 6th really so appalling? Is it?

You can have your moan when we drop out of the POs, until that point we're achieving well enough this season.

I am not saying it is appalling but certainly our league position has been declining as every game passes. I just don't like it being used as a reason that everything is okay just because we are in the playoffs on goal-difference, we can do much better imo hopefully the players can do that.

I'm not concerned at being 6th currently, I'm concerned at our performances and form. Carry that on and we'll finish mid-table. What's going to change our current slump...

Erm because we were in second spot with loads of beatable teams below us in the table to play and we bottled it ? Do you shake your tamborine and praise the Lord on Sundays ?

To be honest, I'd be lying if I said everything was ok. I will be worried if we drop out of the POs for a few games but at the moment I'm only a little concerned. We're still well placed and I don't believe our current form will continue for too long ( :fc:).

That's the thing, many people believe that these poor performances will continue for the rest of the season and I just can't see that happening. Things change, I think we'll turn it around even if it looks grim at the moment.

So less than 2nd is unacceptable is it? I understand why everyone's frustrated but it's difficult to demand that we maintain a position in the top two because it's very difficult to do so. I agree that our mini-collapse has been pretty poor but some people are talking as if we've destroyed all our good work - not true, there's still plenty to fight for.

I simply don't like the view that this season has turned into a semi-disaster, it clearly has not.

I think being 6th on goal difference is pretty poor considering where we were and the resources at our disposal. The performances have been woeful, the football dire, it just feels like the end for him to me

It's hard to accept surrendering 2nd spot but I think it's fairer to look at the entire season rather than one poor run. Is 6th an acceptable achievement? I think so. Yes, we should be doing better but despite our failings we are still doing okay. It isn't a total disaster.

Harry I kind of admire you pluck but you are in denile . Have you actually been to see the dross served up since the Huddersfield game ? No we are NOT doing ok how on earth can you come to that conclusion ? We are in free fall , Pearson has lost the dressing room and the plot and there is no other conclusion than we are heading out of the playoffs. Even if we did make the playoffs can you see us winning it ?

Well you usually do. Why break the habit of a life time ?

My life's not quite over yet - I have many things to look forward to.

I've been to every game since Huddersfield and I'm well aware of what's happened to the team. We're not doing ok, I know, but our league position is ok. It's just a case of holding onto it.

I admit it is very hard to see how things could change at this point - I can't give you any reason why they should either. But no-one would've predicted this downturn after our 5th straight league win either. We've already seen similar turnarounds this season although not as dramaticas the one we'll need. I know my argument sounds very weak and I can't imagine I've convinced you at all, but just because we're playing badly now does not necessarily mean we'll play badly in two week's time. Things change.

I understand the frustrations or City fans, I am one too. The first stint under Pearson was easily our best period since Micky Adams promotion and the cracking Prem year that followed (even though we went down, still memorable). HIs win ratio is possibly the highest of any in recent times. I wouldn't say I was a fan of Pearsons appointment the first time, but he and the team won me over. Winning league one and then getting us in the play offs the next season, with next to no cash, was a job well done. Surely nobody can disagree with that. We then made the worst mistake in recent times and sacked him. I believe had we backed him then, we would be in the Prem now. I fear the same thing is going to happen again. I can already envisage a succession of highly paid managers getting us nowhere over the next few years. If the past has taught us anything, it is that we must stand by Pearson, back him and he will get us there. You know when you meet someone and you can instantly tell whether they are a winner or a loser, well Pearson is a winner.

It seems our neighbours Forest did the same thing with Billy Davies. Everyone who knows anything about football, knows he is a winner. Perhaps not the nicest bloke but you can't have everything. HE got them in the play offs how many times, with no cash. What did they do, sacked him and bought in a succession of high profile, highly paid managers who got nowhere. Then they get Davies back and hey presto Forest are a force again. Had they not sacked him the first time they too would be a Prem team already.

It is easy to be disappointed with recent displays, but our team is just no quite there yet. It will get there though and when it does we will get promoted. We have to stop thinking we have the automatic right to win matches. We are not Real Madrid or Man Utd, we cannot roll teams over. On a good day we can beat anyone in the league easily. We will become more consistant just keep the faith. We have creamed Cardiff twice and got 1 point. We creamed Blackburn twice and got 3 points. I can go on and on. The team is getting there. Don't let a bad spell make you lose focus. We are still in the play offs and whilst I agree the last 4 games are tricky on paper, we can do it. If anything we are better against the better teams, so the run in could benefit us.

Please stick around and offer your common sense approach instead of certain bellends who shall not be named (but it's obvious who I'm referring to).

I'm not a Pearson fan and i'd have been happy for him to have gone early season but do the haters really think we have anything to gain by dumping him now?

i think he had quite a turbulant start to his second spell here, we're currently in 6th spot in the championship-how many derby or sheff wed or charlton fans and the like would settle for that and see it as a success?

He's doing ok under very trying circumstances and if we're proper fans we'll get behind him for the next 8 games, our play off seasons when we beat palace and derby were deemed as great successes yet pearson's got us in the same ballpark and he's seen as a disaster.

fact is when we went up against derby and palace there was no internet forums we could voice our (negative) opinions on. i for one will be there supporting our players and manager until the curtains close on the season and any genuine fan will do the same regardless of their like or dislike of pearson.

Appleton's just been sacked by Blackburn, they're now searching for their 108th manager this season... & will no doubt be available should Top & his Dad require

Why do fans want Pearson out? if we'd kept hold of him in the first place and let him carry on building a team, we'd be in the premiership by now. If he's got any sense he'd have forced a 5 year deal through when we begged him to come back, plus millions in compo if we sacked him again. We can bleat and moan as much as we like, but we as fans don't count. The only change i can see is Shakey going to either west brom to replace dan asworth or to the england setup with hodgson and ashworth.

Really, he's currently screwing up his 3rd attempt at promotion, may as well claim that if we'd kept Sousa we'd be in the Champions League.
