Guest ttfn Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 What did he change? That seems extremely dumb given wood fitted right into the existing system. It's been a philosophical change. Why? I'm not sure. But it's definitely happened..
cc_star Posted 20 March 2013 Posted 20 March 2013 Adkins in talks with Reading http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/130320/exclusive-nigel-adkins-talks-reading-about-replacing-brian-mcdermott-194061 Even if Reading do get relegated they receive £23m next season from the Premier League, that's quite a bounty to have in hand & be able to spend on retaining players & new signings from an FFP point of view.

I thought they were saying Poyet was nailed on for that job? I thought i'd heard betting had been suspended with Poyet as favourite? (Which doesn't necessarily mean anything but usually a sign).
MrsJohnMurphy Posted 20 March 2013 Posted 20 March 2013 Blair, a socialist?? When did this happen? And if you think the Torys wouldn't have played Iraq exactly the same then you are sadly mistaken
LJS Posted 20 March 2013 Posted 20 March 2013 Adkins has drifted for the Reading job with Poyet now being clear favourite again. If Poyet does go I could see Adkins taking the Brighton gig. If our lot are interested they need to be moving now. If I were a manager having to choose between Leicester and Brighton at the minute I'd be heading to the south coast. I reckon they're a better bet in terms of job security, the owners are happy to fund managers, and they are well supported. Some big potential there.

If we stick with plan A Pearson until the summer and then get rid, Adkins may no longer be available and I shudder to think of the alternatives?
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 21 March 2013 Posted 21 March 2013 Okay, it didn't run into millions (in bodies i mean not £'s) Unlike some in the last century who didn't mean anyone any harm. You and Blair have a lot in common And since when was Blair ever a socialist ?
dynamark Posted 21 March 2013 Posted 21 March 2013 Blair and Brown -How the heck did we end up with those two.Paying big time

If we stick with plan A Pearson until the summer and then get rid, Adkins may no longer be available and I shudder to think of the alternatives? Brighton are a good bet for a manager. They're well backed by the owner, gates are growing and I'm sure I read there was plans to extend their stadium, everything about them seems to be on the up and they've not been naively managed by their owner to get there. Whilst I'm sure they run at a loss like all Championship clubs, I'm certain they're not £100m in debt and the restrictions that derive from that along with bumper pay deals clogging up our books playing havok with future plans
lavrentis Posted 21 March 2013 Posted 21 March 2013 Whilst Di Canio would probably do wonders for our club and I would like him here if Pearson went, we should probably stick with Pearson.
Guest Col city fan Posted 21 March 2013 Posted 21 March 2013 Shouldn't we all be hoping that Poyet goes to Reading? Brighton are realistically our biggest challenge for the 6th spot. To lose their manager now would surely see them in the same disarray that many are saying WE would be in if Pearson gets sacked?
lavrentis Posted 21 March 2013 Posted 21 March 2013 Tony Blair's rumoured to be our manager now!! Oh right. What a vile image.

Swiss_tony Posted 21 March 2013 Posted 21 March 2013 yep, we need to hold onto that 6th spot so nige can show his tactical astuteness in a two legged playoff game. jeezuz h kerrist.

Legend_in_blue Posted 21 March 2013 Posted 21 March 2013 Plan A Nige will outsmart all the other managers when it comes to the play off lottery . . . . . What about plan B? Surely you're not banking on plan A being such a huge success...
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 21 March 2013 Posted 21 March 2013 What about plan B? Surely you're not banking on plan A being such a huge success... Not sure big Nige has a plan B does he? Never mind his Plan A will blow the other teams out the water . . . . . .
LJS Posted 21 March 2013 Posted 21 March 2013 Good point Col, albeit losing out on Adkins would be a mare IMO Agreed. Poyet has knocked Reading back, apparently. You'd think that would make Adkins favourite again. If Adkins wasn't available I'd probably advocate leaving Pearson to it for the rest of the season. Two of the three others I'd have on my shortlist (McCarthy, Warnock and McDermott) are in jobs anyway and the other doesn't seem to be in demand just now. If I were the owners I'd be making the decision to get rid of Pearson once he arrives back from Portugal so long as I were confident of persuading Adkins to join. I really think he is an outstandng manager. If the owners do wait until the summer and decide to sack Pearson then I hope Villa go down because Lambert would be another excellent choice.
