Have players gone away?

Recommended Posts

Just reading some tweets and not sure if players have gone away for a break to Portugal

Would be a good idea to get the players away if this has happened

Forgot about footy for a bit. Im not say have a jolly up but perhaps some relaxing/ team bonding is what is needed

Doesnt appear to be a happy camp at the moment

Vardy retweeting any abuse he gets

Gallagher mentioned he love for Blackburn and back in the days

Knocky with his grandma's passing

Whether they are in the starting XI or not - they talk to each other and cant be postive

Its proved over the years that the best squads dont get up but ones that are close with good team spirit do

Not a single player said thanks on twitter for the away support Saturday despite the weather and poor performance

Might have read it wrong and its a player away for international duty but if I was the owners I would whip them away for a few days

Yeah, it would appear that the players not on international duty are going to Portugal. I hope this time away they can recuperate, relax and get the negative atmosphere out. If there is anything that has happened - hopefully they can resolve it whilst they're away so they come back fighting, not just for us - but for each other too.

Nige has gone with them also, which would give me the impression he's going nowhere.

Another thread somewhere, they've all gone Portugal except King, SSL, Schmeichel & Wood who are all with the International squads.

Not sure how people think personal abuse at players helps in anyway. Must be one of the most counter-productive things anyone can do. Although I was severely tempted to spam Konchesky & SSL after their disgraceful, unprofessional performances on Saturday.

Im sure their over inflated salaries will cushion the blow for any of the critics opinions..

Sorry but I fail to see what difference a large salary does to help with verbal abuse. Especially when Vardy was not even remotely involved against Derby. Some of the criticism has been nothing short of embarrassing that it would even come from our OWN ****ing supporters!

Someone could give me a million quid, but if someone was constantly abusing me at work - it doesn't make it any better.

I have never understood why we would abuse our own players - I've seen a lot of thanks to twitter and its just unacceptable

Why would a supporter of lcfc hammer a player that plays for our own club and tries the best to his ability

Its senseless and cowardly

I struggle to see why our supporters would think it could be productive. It will just destroy the confidence of the player for the next game

And the amount of money they are on has nothing to do with whether they could cope with it or not with the abuse.

This is the minority but it makes me embarressed to be a supporter of our club

If we fail to go up, these 'fans' will have not have helped

Where have you read that Pearson has gone out with them? Not that I think that would stop the owners sacking him once they've sounded out a successor this week.

I think I'd be able to cope with dogs abuse for the wages they're on, I'm not agreeing with picking out individuals via social media, it's certainly not something I condone. Personally I'd just shrug and get on with it, but I'd know that it's a fickle business and that those slagging me will also be cheering me in better times. That's just the reality of their workplace, and they do get richly rewarded.

Twitter is either full of people sucking up to Knockaert everytime he tweets, or abusing other players.

St Ledger got abused yesterday cc_star.

I've never understood why anyone would want to hammer anyone on Twitter. But then some people are desperate for attention. Thankfully a lot of them a starting to get what they deserve.

Or an apology.

Abusing the players is not on, especially the pussies who do it one twitter but players seem to always focus on the people who are giving them stick, rather than the ones who travel to away games and stay behind the players.

Frankly they deserve a bit of stick (within reason) and they deserved to be booed off the pitch for the Derby display. I'm very disappointed none of them seem to care about the importance of that game to our fans or the shit the travelling supporters were subjected to.

As I've always said, it works both ways, there are fans who do stick behind the team, just as there are performances that are unacceptable and deserve to be booed. If players try their hardest then fair enough, but of they don't they shouldn't expect the fans to be so forgiving.

I know there's been a few jokes about this Portugal trip but the way morale is at the moment it's as good an idea as any.

The thing that makes me laugh is when the players respond and the "fans" that give it out can't take it.

But anyway, I do wonder what sendin them abuse really does achieve.

Posted

I think when players get abuse from fans, i think the player himself loses enthusiasm. I mean how would you feel getting abuse from your own fans having a bad game, but when your playing okay you get no response from the fans.

At times our fans can really be bully's it's time we took a step back and allow the players to do there jobs, putting pressure on doesn't help.

In my job if a customer says something offensive to me I can't insult them in return. It's unprofessional. I am paid not only to do my day job but to represent my organisation positively. The same is true of players and football clubs. I din't condone fans abusing players but if a player bites they deserve what comes their way.

If there was one thing I would do as a manager it would be to ban the silly ejits from twitter. No twitter if you want to play for this club.End of.Full stop.

The whole twitter thing is a waste of time only going to cause trouble/start silly rumour

I find Twitter very useful professionally. It allows me to access important/interesting information or developments quickly and that can give me an edge at work.

For footballers though it seems to be asking for trouble.

What with all due respect finding out what steven fry had for breakfast!!.If I want to contact someone with something relevant there are several avenues available.Whoever thought of twitter clever stuff but not for sports persons

I reckon if I was a footballer getting "abused" on Twitter and I didn't like it I would just not go on Twitter. I reckon I could find something else to do quite easily with my ten grand a week. You pussy's who are all about protecting players from EVIL fans need to get a grip. If you don't like being a footballer **** off and good luck with your career in and out of the parole office

I would LOVE to be abused every day if it meant i could lead a kooshty life - big house - multiple cars and pretty much any bird i wanted. Bless them being tweeted abuse.

Its not like anyone is throwing dog shit at them is it?

I don't follow celebrities. Why use other avenues if Twitter is faster and easier? The way we are communicating is changing. Twitter is excellent.

LJS due respect but Id be interested to know what twitter offers frankly. Most of my business dealings I would want to keep relatively private. Not public

May work in some areas to be fair but Im struggling to see where

I work as a manager in the NHS. Twitter allows me instant access to the most senior people in the NHS and, by extension, extremely fast access to the latest policy recommendations - which frame the way I must approach my work. I have often read the latest important reports and clinical frameworks before I have even arrived at my desk. The more information I have about things which are professionally important, the better armed I am do do the things which will benefit patients the most. Twitter also allows patients instant access to very senior people. A chief executive I know well uses Twitter regularly to communicate with patients and the feedback he has from doing so is extremely positive. It's how people communicate now and we have to move with that. As a public service we have to be responsive to the way the public behave. It is also a great way of sharing ideas and learning. The more we all do that the better we can all be at our jobs. And the better we are at our jobs the better we make things for patients. Twitter allows managers, doctors, nurses, politicians, patients, carers to come together. It provides a platform through which this can be done regularly and quickly.

Nobody conducts confidential business via Twitter. That isn't what it's for.

Only because you can't throw dogshit over the internet.

If you could, you wouldn't be able to get within a mile of hoofsky for the stench

Don't get the personal abuse players get. Seems counter-productive if you ask me. I agree that some form of an apology on there would be nice but perhaps the few on there who tweet players crap have caused some of them to give less of a sh*t.

I'm worried by the reaction after defeat by players on Twitter to be honest. Continually seeing 'move on', 'oh well' and a sort of flippant attitude to the massive balls up that has been the last 9 games. I agree to a certain extent that focusing on the next game is paramount, but they really need to sit down as a squad, look at there own game over the last 9, and work out why they, on an individual and team level, have been so sh*t. Learn from mistakes, don't sweep them under the carpet.

I understand that the whole abusing players on twitter is absurd and would never do it myself, but i'd put everything I own on the fact that Rooney and Rio alone get more than any other footballer on twitter and it doesn't seem to be affecting United a great deal this season. Hope this trip to Portugal sorts whatever the problem is out though regardless, as the talent is clearly there.
