6 games to go, could we have a harder end of season run?

So I was looking at who we have to play the last six games, wondering, praying that we can turn it around, and this is what we've got:

Home - Birmingham, Bolton, Watford

Away - Brighton, Palace, Forest

Could we have a harder run at the end of the season, and how will we do? On paper, I think based on the way things are right now the games against these teams are 5 of the hardest 6 we could play. I say this because Cardiff will be there in a week or two and will likely go into cruise control, and Bolton still have that hope to play hard and make the play offs, while 3-6 are all fighting to either cement that play off spot, or in some cases, make the top 2.

However, I think we will come through it and pick up at least 12 out of 18 points. I'm actually going to say that we will get 13, and lose only to Forest away to sneak into 6th with a draw against Palace, with the rest wins. It seems to me that we've hit rock bottom (hopefully!) and the game against Brighton is perfect for this time of the season. We know a loss will pretty much kill us off and a draw would also be close to a disaster so I can see the players going out there with a point to prove knowing this game really means something. What does everyone else think? It's been a sad few weeks, gutting in fact but we have what it takes to come through this and I really believe that it's not over till it's over.

Apologies if this is a duplicate thread! Feel free to merge !!

Well we've not exactly been fairing too well against the teams loitering near the bottom of the league have we?!

What silebyboy said. At any time before February I'd have been pretty confindent about our final push but the last 2 months have been utterly baffeling. I can't see it happening now. Of course it'd be a great twist if we did finish top 6, but if we play as we have been since the start of February in just half of those games... We're buggered.

Yes we could have a harder run in. Next season it could well be this:

Man United H

Man City A

Spurs H

Arsenal A

Liverpool H

Then a final away game - with 3 points required to stay up - at St Marys, home of the new champions!!

I mean it's a good point and it's hard to argue with. The games we've had recently, I would have bet my mortgage on winning a good chunk of them. I feel like we needed this run of 6 to start against hard teams in games that matter as I think we got too confident against some of the teams we've lost to and just lost our way. A difficult game can hopefully be the thing that turns it around, and Brighton is the best place to start with the table right now as we can instantly make up ground on at this point, our main challenger for 6th spot. Lose though and that'll be it!

Game on for saturday, if the forest result goes our way then we can go to 5th. Let's hope for a big win regardless of who is in charge on the day, that and 5th spot could be what the lads need to rediscover some form.

It baffles me that teams around us don't seem to capitalise on our poor run.

We are still in a chance of the play-offs despite relegation form.

Footballs a funny old game!

We're playing half the teams in / around the play-offs. If we can't beat them now, it's probably best we lose out on the top 6.

Let's show some backbone and send a message. :fc:

To be honest this season, and last, and the one before, and in-fact every other season, has made me realise the standard of opposition in this league means absolutely fvck all.

In-fact, I'm actually quite happy we've got hard games and happy that it's in our own hands - they're all beatable. It'll show how much they really do want it and what they really are made of.

There's never been any logic to our results and there never will be.

If we get results in most of these games, we deserve to be up there.

I'd rather have that run in, we have the chance to take points from teams around us. Yes, we've been absolutely dire the last two months or so, but I'd have that run in over any other. It's games like this, that you'd hope would motivate the players.

We'll see I guess.

We are averaging 1.48 points per game if we continue with that average we will end up with 68 points.

So we need a vast improvement I will explain how.

Win on Saturday our average will be 1.51 points per game which if we continue with that average we will finish the season with 69 points.

Win the following game on the Friday our points average will be 1.54 points per game if we continue that average till the end of the season we will end up with 71 points which may be enough to finish in 6th.

We pretty much have to win our next two games to give us a chance of finishing 6th.

It's a massive test of faith, an almost insurmountable task when you look at it on paper. Especially with the recent run of poor results and the hopes that were once that high up on a new low.

These next six regular season games will be Pearson's defining exam. It's now or never. Can he motivate the players to attack these fixtures positively and with the hunger required to fight for a playoff place?

Do the players care, do they have the desire to fight for promotion?

Fight. For every single remaining point that we can get. Consider it survival.

It all starts here.
