Grewks Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 If we end up getting rid of the likes of... kasper konch wellens gallagher danns nuge beckford Would you be happy if we replaced them with.... Steele cunningham trotter sako tomlin ebanks-blake gayle ??? Would save a lot of money, 2 of the above are out of contract, 3 play for relegated sides (well wolves are pretty much gone), and the other 3 play for tinpot posh and barnsley respectively. I know a lot of our fans like kasper and nuge, and they do have a lot of quality, i think sometimes the only way for a squad to improve is to get rid of 2-3 of their quality players to add another 4-5.
RowlattsFox Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 So replace them all with players who will be or nearly got relegated this season?
Tom17LCFC Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 I don't understand the obsession with Tomlin at all.
AKCJ Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 With the exception of Kasper (I think he's worth millions to us) yes. But is it as easy as that? Bear in mind we wouldn't get transfer fees for the likes of Gallagher, Danns, Wellens and Konch. The likes of Sako, Tomlin and Gayle might cost a few bob.
AKCJ Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 I don't understand the obsession with Tomlin at all. He's got 10+ goals and 10+ assists this season. Plus I think he's a Leicester fan. Plus it means he won't have a blinder against us.
Ashley Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 Kasper is worth keeping. Get rid of Nugent? . I can tell you know. Trotter, Ebanks-Blake & Sakho would command high wages so where is your logic in them?
KFS Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 All of those players mentioned above bar Kasper and Nugent don't really offer us an option to recoup any money we've thrown at them over the last two years. I think this will be the problem when trying to ship them out. Who is going to pay to get them out of contract? Let alone their weekly wages.
Grewks Posted 28 April 2013 Author Posted 28 April 2013 Kasper is worth keeping. Get rid of Nugent? . I can tell you know. Trotter, Ebanks-Blake & Sakho would command high wages so where is your logic in them? Why not get rid of nugent? As for sako and trotter being on high wages....they are not. Trotter is actually on less of a wage than Wood is here, as Kenny Jackett admitted that they offered a contract to wood which would have made him the highest earner at the club.

Tell me realistically who you would replace Nugent with who would score the same amount of goals. Trotter still would be on £15k.
Fox92 Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 I'd take Steele if Kasper was to leave, yes. Just as good, and we'd probably make millions selling Kasper and get Steele in for little. Massive save on wages, too.
davieG Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 Who do you think will take these high earners off us, not a PL team theyre not good enough and I doubt a Championship team will want to buy out their contracts/pay them what they currently earn.

I wonder how much compensation we'd have to pay if we were to let them all go?
Stuliasz Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 A Posh season ticket holder mate of mine says Tomlin is very much a 1 in 10 game man. Can be very effective on his day but is usually a passenger. He would offer something a bit different to the squad but I don't think we can afford luxuries like Tomlin, we have enough of them already.

We don't have anyone like tomlin in our squad. No individual in our midfield has assisted 14 goals this season, yet tomlin has done this and scored 12 goals aswell. So 26 'goal chances' in all competitions seems more than a 1 in 10 player.

I wonder how much compensation we'd have to pay if we were to let them all go? exactly, we can actually sell players like nuge and kasper. I don't want to see them go, they are great players, but we need to improve other areas more. Wood is as good if not better than nuge, and schlupp is still young and will improve. Our problem this season has been creating 'good' chances, not taking them. Wood is a 20 a goal season man. We need more goals from midfield, none of our midfield have reached double figures this year, both sako and tomlin have. IMO, selling kasper and nuge would give us the cash to sign steele, tomlin, sako and SEB (out of contract). I know it is not as simple and straightforward as the above, but those four players would add more to our squad than just kasper and nuge.
yorkie1999 Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 And just how do you propose we get rid of them. They're on contracts, the only thing we can do is try and use them whether we like it or not.

No need to have a go, just passing on what I was told. Also Tomlin has only got 9 assists, one more than Ben Marshall. Sure Tomlin has probably had more minutes on the field too.
LCFC FOX 1884 Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 I'd like to get sako, Ebanks Blake/Gayle, Trotter/Gelson Fernandez, Olsonn and Figueroa Out I think futacs, konchesky, Wellens, Gallagher, Whitbread, Beckford, danns To buy those players would pro ally cost 6m and about 30-40k a week and selling those players we'd get about 4m and 35-40k on wages

king richard 1066 Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 look at qpr they have wasted 80million trying to stay in the premireship and will have to get rid of players as for reading come down in good shape as the can stay as they are. so we should learn we need a good soild team this is a good chance to get rid of all the dead wood. This team is no good to go up we need a team that is good enough to go up and stay up if this is peason or not that up to thi
